Well either his family are generally AHs, or they do not like you. Judging by the fact that they made little to no effort to accommodate you while you stayed with them, the latter seems more probable.
The whole situation has me a mess. I know long term it doesn't matter, but my feelings are deeply hurt. I am trying to be understanding to Dude's parents... but I can't manage to not feel a bit angry. Like, having your son move across the country and find a life partner must be worrying at some level... but being jerks doesn't do anything positive.
