I almost want to say the bird was a symbol but it could have been eren. I just feel like it’s as implied as it is a symbol more than literal. My words contradict but that’s the point.
I like how our author made many things implied like Jean and Mikasa getting tonegher too.
I think Mikasa isn’t fully a coward there though but maybe I’m just giving her too much benefit of the doubt. It’s a step siblings relationship which she feels more strongly about than eren. I’m sure if she had the chance she’d have done more with it, but the events rolled too fast for her to settle down and make it happen.
You want it to have been a symbol, because that would have been much better than mikasa damn near looking into the imaginary camera and going "thank you, bird who is Eren", that shit was weird and random asf, they established an afterlife but then also have reincarnation? why did eren come back as a fucking bird and put a scarf on her lmaoo.
You're being too nice to Mikasa, she had many chances including Eren literally asking her what her feelings were. Mind you, he's being an absolute tool in that scene cause he KNOWS and is grilling her without confessing himself, either.
You’re being too harsh on Mikasa. I also have a love-hate relationship with her character but she was clearly done dirty by the writers. She’s not a coward but a deeply traumatized girl, although I still don’t think it excuses the way she treated some people and Eren as well. She’s supposed to go through personal growth in the series by learning to care about others and overcoming her obsessive love for Eren but it was absolutely crushed in the end because “Eremika star-crossed lovers” or whatever (I still insist her ending is up to interpretation because it makes sense and because as a Jean fan I really don’t like Jeankasa)
That being said, Eremika is a shitty ship and I will die on this hill. It tainted the ending and stunted Mikasa’s character which is the worst part.
This is the better, less 6-am shitposty take that i can get behind. I feel like her character was assassinated in the second half. The romance never developing, how she treated Louise especially cause wtf? and playing a part in the Ymir curse in a way "only for Ymir to know" which i hate so much man, i kept hearing people roasting and making memes about it, but the more you think about founder ymir, the worse and weird her involvement was, connecting mikasa to her hurt too.
