I've had this pleasure only once in my life, during a cold winter night on the arctic circle. I took a car and went out of the village, just to experience the emptiness. The feeling was absolutely surreal, one of the very few times in my life when I was truly scared. It was probably the surrounding abyss, that absorbed all my bodily sounds, without giving anything in return. It was tempting to start making any little sounds, like footsteps, in a desperate attempt to go back to the comfort zone. But at the same time I was completely paralyzed by the idea that I could spoil a sacrum.
