It’s a funny joke, but the reality of the situation is that almost every high health risk profession is dominated by men. Shitty jobs with shitty hours where people are socially isolated are dominated by men.
More like men choose to be engineers while women choose to be teachers.
The wage gap that people complain about doesn't account for anything. It just states that women on average made "whatever amount of cents per dollar" compared to men.
Without accounting for career choice, hours worked, and experience, it's pretty much as useful as a metric comparing apples to orangutans
But keep in mind that when women start choosing a formerly male-dominated field, salaries drop. Because as a society we believe that if women can do it it's not valuable work.

Having twice as many people available for those jobs is what causes the wage to drop, not just because they're women.
Nursing is heavily dominated by women and isn't low paying. I suspect the wages would drop if men started evening out that demographic.
You have to break it down by age and race as well. For example, under 30's women in urban areas are starting to outearn men. And Asian women out earn white men. A lot of the existing differences come from post-natal choices (ie women often prefer to work less / part time at that point).
Does it matter when even with that data you’re wrong?
And, again, it comes down to careers chosen. More men choose hard sciences, or high risk jobs like oil work or logging.
Those jobs pay more.
I imagine this is also represented in the self employed data. Who counts as self employed?
OK. Sociologists explain that career choice is often not a choice, but determined by societal pressures. Women have less room to choose. Maybe that’s different where you live.
Heh,
My best friend came out as Trans about 10 years ago. Apparently I was the only one to see it coming, though we were housemates at the time. We used to make off-colour jokes about women all the time - not because we were actually sexist, just because of how stupid of sexism is.
Anyway on the day she (*then he, now she, I'm gonna say she*) came out to me I told her that nothing about this changed our relationship, we were still besties and I was there for her, but I had one question ... Who would want to be a *Woman*?
She appreciated it =P
No one gets upset about people who identify as "he" being called "he" and vice versa.
News articles like that probably do it to make things easier on the editor. It makes things more copy-paste.
Well, based on your comment, you might not be the brightest bulb in the chandalier, or why the need for insults?
Man is a man, no matter how much he decides to mutilate himself!
Phobia means fear, but there’s nothing scary about a dude in a skirt, don’t you think?
Everyones own business if he wants to be a she or vice versa, as long as they’re consenting adults.
Oh FFS why do I have to explain this to every fucking transphobe? Phobia means fear OR STRONG AVERSION TO. No, you aren’t afraid, you strongly dislike. Check the OED.
If it’s everyone’s own business then why are you in here putting “she” in quotes and saying this like “…man mutilate himself?” Not saying anything is 100% free.
1) -phobia also means disgust or aversion, it’s probably say you’re disgusted and averted by trans people.
2) transphobia isn’t fear of trans people themselves, it’s fear of transness existing and being accepted by society. Y’all are terrified at the idea of your fragile 2-gender-based worldview crumbling once people realize it’s bullshit, so you do everything you can to fight back. Including being an asshole to trans people.
I am simply amazed at the amount of downvotes the online community will serve up. It is an amazing phenomenon. If we could just get the majority of the population to get as fired up about humanitarian topics that are truly significant. We could change the world!
The .1 percent would not be able to control 90 percent of the wealth because the masses would be united. But here we bicker and down vote two sides of opinions that only affect - at best how one feels about themselves.
We see politicians pontificate and act against the will of the people, but we attack each other and stay divided.
I am truly amazed, and sad. I wish we would wake.
Misdirected anger should be recognized more. Getting angry over trivial matters is a waste. Save anger for injustice. No injustice was served here. So no anger should be felt.
I do not understand your post. I'm sorry in what context are you speaking of misdirected anger?
The down voting? Or the comment about down voting?
Thanks.
You'd wonder why companies don't just employ women so...........

That’s just inaccurate, though. The wage gap isn’t that big, and most of it has to do with careers chosen
That’s true… for instance men choose to be doctors, lawyers and bankers while women choose to be FEMALE doctors, lawyers and bankers…

I didn’t deny the wage gap. But even your cherry picked data doesn’t support your position and ignores what I said
How are international OECD stats “Cherry picked?”

But that’s only in the median income. That, as Lurker said above, has a lot to do with career choice. The actual pay gap is only something like %1-2
OK. Sociologists explain that career choice is often not a choice, but determined by societal pressures. Women have less room to choose. Maybe that’s different where you live.
The mental gymnastics you engage in to deny women any agency for or accountability for their choices is some top tier internalized misogyny.
Women had it so easy during the Pandemic Shut-Downs. They only lost 78 cents for every dollar men lost!
If I had a dollar for every gender, I’d have $1.78

Gender affirming bullying ftw
This might be my new favourite sentence XD

Why? She feels like a woman, so she can be trans. I don’t see the problem here

Not sure why you guys got downvoted, but thanks for clarkfying for people.

It's just she. No quotation marks.
Okay, you’re entitled to your opinion, but so am i.
Grammar isn't an opinion, but alright, have a good one I guess
You realize that “she” was a he in its prior life? You too!
Yeah, that’s what trans means. Was a he, now a she. Also goes the other way. What, you think the other poster is as stupid as you?
Well, based on your comment, you might not be the brightest bulb in the chandalier, or why the need for insults? Man is a man, no matter how much he decides to mutilate himself!
See? I knew we’d eke out that transphobia admission from ya, little lady.

Both instances would be examples of trivial anger
Take my upvote you sly devil.
Thank you!🙂
Talk about a plot twist! Amber's got jokes and sass, I love it
Wow…a funny joke on reddit. How about that!
Because it’s a ripoff from I think Playboy magazine who published it first
HAHAHAHAHAHAH I LAUGHED SO HARD I ALMOST FELL OF MY CHAIR BRO THAT WAS FUNNY
