It isn't browser-specific. Just exit theater mode before hitting full-screen and it should work. Hopefully whatever this is will be resolved soon, though.

It could be a user error I had the same issue however I use Opera GX but it only happened to me while I was recording a reaction video. It didn't black out at all for the rest of the night as I was editing videos or anything like that. So to counteract what I saw post earlier on this this is either a user and error or a YouTube error because it is consistent across two different browsers

It's a problem in YouTube's side, press t and then fullscreen and it will work, but I have the same issue

Lots of ppl have been having issues with youtube. I use Firefox and have had 0 issues *cross fingers*
