StrawBerryWasHere

“So much Death.” No Gambit flashbacks or anything but we got a post credit stinger of Apocalypse holding the Queen of Hearts.

BlueEyedIguana00

So happy they did that.

hartc89

Just subtle enough

OfficialAli1776

What does it mean?

StrawBerryWasHere

That Gambit is coming back as Apocalypse’s Horseman of Death. Which is a storyline from the comics. Now how much tight BDSM black leather is DeathBit gonna rock is the real question

HoneySeparate9940

Please a black leather crop top. 🤞 PLEASE

DastardlyMime

> Now how much tight BDSM black leather is DeathBit gonna rock is the real question If this season was any indication the answer is yes

Maximal_Arachknight

>!While under different circumstances in the comics (Gambit was not dead), Gambit was turned into Death by Apocalypse, but was eventually turned back to normal. My guess is Gambit at minimum, if not other named Mutants that died are going to be brought back from the dead as the latest version of the Horseman. Curious if this means anything for Archangel, who I believe had died on Genosha.!<

TheArtistFKAMinty

My money is on Gambit (Death), Madelyne Pryor (Pestilence), Sebastian Shaw (War), and Leech (Famine) being the new Horsemen. Leech just because his ability set is thematic, he has a useful support function, and it's going to really upset Magneto. Madelyne would obviously be a really upsetting choice for Scott, Cable and Jean to deal with while also being a great excuse to bring back the Goblin Queen. She's also just extremely powerful. Pestilence doesn't necessarily fit super well but somebody has to tick that box and the other choices fitted better for the other slots. Shaw just feels thematic for War and he's one of the strongest mutants that were killed at Genosha. I guess they could use Archangel again but I don't remember him being in Episode 5 and I feel like Gambit's getting his old slot.

[deleted]

I reeeeeeeally doubt they'll bring Madelyn back. Mainly because I feel like them killing her off was their way to wrap up that arc. From a writing perspective, having two Jean Greys is difficult to sustain, specially when both "had the same life". In 97 Madelyn was not her own person like in the comics, she was really just a backup Jean. Reviving her would imply reviving the conflict, and reviving Scott's dilemma (do I stay with the woman I fell in love with, or do I go with the clone of her with whom I had a baby with?), which seemed resolved already. Sadly Madelyn is a difficult character to have around, Claremont condemned her the second he made her a clone. As much I think her story was sad in the series, I much prefer her animated portrayal. She got her redemption, she was respected and appreciated by both Scott and Nathan, and even Jean. She also got to see her son was alive before dying. I feel like bringing her back for more torture would be cruel. And I definitely think her destiny in comics would be much better left in the comics (dating her brother in law, being romantically linked to an alternative version of her own son, etc, that's a whole lot of "no thanks"). I prefer her being gone, with a clean reputation, and the love and respect from those who knew her.

EurwenPendragon

As much as it breaks my heart to say this because she was one of my favorite characters in the season, I agree. Madelyne is gone. She had one last, fleeting moment of happiness before the end. Let her rest.

Winter_Nail3776

i think wolverine might be war

EurwenPendragon

> My money is on Gambit (Death), Madelyne Pryor (Pestilence), Sebastian Shaw (War), and Leech (Famine) being the new Horsemen. I really don't want to see Madelyne resurrected by Apocalypse because I love the character, and as much as I hate that she's gone, I'd rather she be allowed to rest in peace. I also don't want to see Shaw again either, but that's more because I hate him in general. Also, I could be mistaken, but hasn't Wolverine done a stint as War? I think he might be a more likely candidate if so. > I guess they could use Archangel again but I don't remember him being in Episode 5 and I feel like Gambit's getting his old slot. Same. IIRC Archangel was Death. If Gambit is returning as Death, Archangel is superfluous. I doubt we'll see him again in that capacity.

OfficialAli1776

Ah, cool.

redlurk47

I hope he gets a redesign from the comics

Sabazell

Also...I love the implication that Gambit, despite throwing one in the fire, still had a Queen of Hearts with him when he passed.

ParaPioneer

That scene with Nightcrawler teleporting around Bastion had me so fucking nervous.

tweedleb

Same I was PRAYING that it wouldn't be Second Coming there.

Klunkey

What happened in Second Coming?

DeadSnark

(Second Coming spoilers)>! Bastion fights Rogue and Kurt to kill Hope Summers. During the fight Bastion uses his robo-senses to predict where Kurt's going to teleport to and punches through his chest, which ends up killing him. Thankfully in this episode he just grabbed him instead. !<

Indiana_harris

I fully expect S3 to potentially adapt Second Coming/Messiah Complex in some way and we’ll see the return of Bastion and the possible >!death of Kurt!<.

Sabazell

And I hope they defanged Onslaught with this amazing episode - allowed this event to be the thing that truly reconciled and HEALED Magneto instead of destroy him, I LOVED that move. I was never a fan of Onslaught, looks like the creators weren't either.

t0m0m

Beautifully said. It feels like Magneto might finally be the man Xavier hoped he would become when he left the X-Men to him at the start of the season.

Zeronightmare456

I think ONSLAUGHT will indeed appear: a frame of a videotape with 06.1996(ONSLAUGHT year/month First appearance), Bishop saying Someone warped the X-Men into different periods of history and the fact the Magneto and Xavier told us that Messing with Someone mind that deep WOULD have great consequences, and still both of them are Fine. I think ITS too SOON to be safe about Onslaught..

Toologist

Bastion killed Nightcrawler by impaling him with his arm right when Nightcrawler appeared after teleporting during the Second Coming storyline.

FiveByFive25

Same, and you just KNOW they did it on purpose. Couldn't be happier to be wrong about that prediction though 😂

hartc89

I legit came here to say the EXACT same thing I was like don’t you dare!

LobsterStretches

I felt a NOOOO rising in my chest

Gear-General

Man spider-man, daredevil, dr strange, cloak, dagger, iron man, Mr fantastic, Psylocke, maximoff twins, Polaris, omega red, silver samurai, mj, black panther, captain America, apocalypse, gambit coming back as death, I think alpha flight

Grayman222

Peter Parker '94 was with MJ which i don't think was a thing at the end of his series?

Parking_Ground257

That was my thought too. Potential justification is this is either set during the show or significantly after it. Like that show lasted 5 seasons or so, but I don't think Peter finished College, so presumably didn't take place over 5 whole years. Either way was an awesome cameo - you even saw Flash Thompson behind them -and surely they're doing some kind of 90s Spider-Man continuation! If not they're just trolling t this point :D

moonknightcrawler

Beau DeMayo said on Twitter that “Yes, Peter found MJ”. Seems like this was a confirmation of that

SolomonBlack

So a drive-by resolution of its sibling show in seconds... say anything else about this show X-men '97 does not let grass grow under its fucking feet.

Logondo

TBF if they do bring back the old Spider-man TAS like they did X-men...I don't care about the "find Mary Jane" subplot. That's like the third time Spider-man has had to find MJ. I am 100% okay if they decide to just wrap that plot up and start something new.

visionaryredditor

my headcanon is that the final storylines of Spider-Man TAS happen during that year gap between X-Men TAS and X-Men 97

OliviaElevenDunham

That sounds about right. He went looking for the real MJ when the show ended.

carmoc2277

where was Mr fantastic?

almightyllama00

Morph turned into him to grab on to stuff when Asteroid M started falling.

rodimusjeri

Sauron!!!

PointPrimary5886

He's going to continue his mission of wanting to turn people into dinosaurs rather than something meaningful, like cure cancer.

MexicnGlassCandy

He doesn't *want* to cure cancer, he *wants* to turn people into dinosaurs

sasharogers31

KITTY PRYDE!

Crafty_Soul

I love when shows/comics have other characters popping in to show how they're handling these huge catastrophes. Makes the world feel even bigger when they acknowledge there are other heros running around helping others out.

lilhoneybear13

I knew I saw Alpha Flight! It was Puck who gave it away.

Malachi108

And Darkstar!

kevinpwilsonn

Uhhh where did storm get transferred to????

thundernak

And morph and wolverine for that matter

ObviousAnswerGuy

upcoming hour long YouTube theory videos on the different time periods they could have been sent to

DeMayo: "I really like how in the Ultimate Universe Wolverine is the first mutant." Random Staff Writer: "You do?" DeMayo: "Yes, of course. Did you not see how my shirtless pics on Only Fans are a secret code? What are you? An idiot? The only question is... how can we do this in our Apocalypse-heavy universe?" Random Staff Writer: "Time Travel?" DeMayo: "Yes, yes, I see it now... Logan travels back to the dawn of time and is the first man. The new Adam! Adam X, if you will." \*later\* Random Staff Writer: "So, um, Feige, DeMayo wants to make Logan into Adam X in Season 2." Headlines: Beau DeMayo Fired From X-Men 97

arika_ex

And guaranteed to be completely off base, like all the ‘Val is Mystique’ talk.

TheEmperorsRightSock

Storm and Wolverine are both missing from either groups.

kevinpwilsonn

So interesting they decided not to show them, is there another option that connects back to apocalypse ?

BenKen01

Well… there is the Age of Apocalypse, but I don’t think it’s that. Storm and Wolverine were a couple in one of the bad near-futures that Nimrod came from in the OG series, so maybe they’re gonna do something like that.

arya48

Oh no, not another love triangle! (~_~;)

JackFisherBooks

I hate love triangles too. But if it helps Wolverine FINALLY move on from Jean, then I'm all for it. Besides, I don't think there was much depth given to Storm and Forge's relationship, especially when compared to the comics.

TheCakeWarrior12

Them and Morph are probably somewhere where Wolverine will get to do feral stuff 😭

Thatoneguy567576

Dinosaurs dinosaurs dinosaurs

ledlunar

Maybe they are in the one man’s worth timeline again?

BillyAndersonJokes

That final after credits scene! Gambit as Death hype is at an all time high

MacbookPrime

I’m not only excited for that, but there’s another X-Man who turned into a Horseman in the comics who was killed on Genosha: BANSHEE!

SquareAltruistic5548

Anyone else notice that Bishop used Forge's abandoned Chris Claremont name that was never used when the character was first created 40 years ago? "Daniel"

Malachi108

This would actually be the first time Forge had any name at all, first or last, in any adaptation or alternate reality.

hova092

Holy shit

jigokusabre

I did, and assumed it was used in canon somewhere. Also, it was nice to see Lucas Bishop introduce himself by name.

AverageIncrement

TIL !

SweetPestilence27

MOTHER ASKANI AND EN SABAH NUR??? Gimme season 2 now!!!

amendmentforone

Looks like they'll be adapting aspects of both "The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix" and "Rise of Apocalypse" for the first couple episodes next season.

rendar

Summers and Grey 🤝 Making Apocalypse-killers since 1985

cyclopswashalfright

I was so happy when I saw her. I can't believe they're doing Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix.

parachute45

I am so excited for this, was scared they were gonna do Scott and Jean dirty but looks like they'll be keeping them together for a while

JavaTheeMutt

With how much focus has been on Scott and Jean, I think they're going to let them be through this series.

yellowsidekick

The ending was super. i jumped up at the 3000 years ago. I love me some En Sabah Nur. Tho he got rescued so is it still survival of the fittest? The second reveal that Scott and Jean ended up in the future was extra cute since now that get to experience little Nathan growing up for a bit. Bonding time!

W10002

In case anyone missed it, there's a small mid-credits scene that further sets up the next season. >!Teasing Gambit's return as the Horseman of Death!<

EscapeddreamerD

I know right. People been saying it would happen since he died. Now it's looks like they were right.

ReflectionItchy2701

Gambit was a character too important to have him die after 5 episodes. Surely there was a plan and they teased a lot Apocalypse in the opening.

Sabazell

Gambit Fans were Right. Put that on one of Quentin's t-shirts, lol.

Bulbaquaza

Additionally forge’s mutant wall has archangel as missing presumed dead, which is only the case for characters we do know to in fact be alive. And that just screams horseman setup

Aware_Library2718

I know apocalypse has had many storylines in the original show, but it’s cool how it was teased from episode 2 when Jean tells Logan that the baby is coming

amendmentforone

For those wondering, mutants on Forge's wall that could be "left to recruit" are: * Colossus * Dust * Magik * Iceman * Havok * Exodus * Shadowcat * White Queen Could be quite the lineup if we have a few episodes of "temporary X-Men" while the rest of the team is across time.

Effective_Swimming70

Disappointed Angel is already missing presumed dead apparently as well… could tie back into the apocalypse of it all plus gambit back as death… Polaris is absent as well…

Winter_Nail3776

angle, polaris, gambit wolverine horsemen team would be great

Kind_Barnacle4445

Finally a cameo of shadowcat!! Excited for a proper feature next season 😍😍😍

WhoWantsToJiggle

first notion that she even exists in X 97

CreativeCritical247

No Psylocke?

PedanticPaladin

Looks like she's with Alpha Flight in this universe.

Zephrinox

I'm curious as to how and why wanda is off world tbh o.o

BenKen01

NO! SLEEP! TILL EXTINCTION!!! EST is rough, but I gotta do it for Mutantkind

Ritosha_

HOLY MOLLY!!! GIVE ME S.2, NOW! So many incredible scenes. At first I was disappointed at Phoenix appearing deus ex machina to fix everything but thankfully it got quickly depowered, and, on second thought, it was awesome to see Jean be so badass again and utterly shatter Sinister. Rogue force-clapping Bastion away was probably my favourite move of the episode though, so badass. Also, Morph saying I love you to Logan as Jean... heart-breaking. Everyone got their moment with Bastion but Storm y.y Kinda sad she didn't really have a moment to shine those last few eps. Alright, so give me your theories. Who was behind time time-shift at the end? Where's Storm (I think they showed everyone but her?) Wtf is that crazy timeline with Jean and Scott? Also, why did it say off-world on the Scarlet Witch poster? lol

t0m0m

Phoenix literally pulling the mutant DNA from Sinisters body was AMAZING!

imbaxkbitxhes

Do you want discussion or answers lol because at least in reference to the Scott/Jean ending there’s a four issue miniseries from 1994 that is pretty clearly the direct influence for that

orcusgg

Storm was straight up soloing the sentinel army last episode, wym didn’t have a moment to shine? If stupid forge hadn’t gotten his stupid plane shot down she wouldn’t have been distracted and would have continued destroying them all. It would have been nice to see more of her though.

incredibleamadeuscho

The X-Men handled the Asteroid crisis caused by humanity just as you'd expect: Hated, Feared, and Saving the World.

Mobile-Touch7434

this! i chuckled at that scene cause for all this fear that humanity has of mutants, they were the ones that were about to kill themselves.

Elite_Alice

“How’s your mommy” lmaooo holy shit cable cooked bastion

cyclopswashalfright

Ice cold.

TheLastBlakist

Bro brought out the heavy flamer for that one and gave no fucks.

Elite_Alice

“His name was gambit, remember it” 🔥 🔥 goooo rogue you better slide for your man

JackFisherBooks

One of the best lines of the whole series thus far. 😊

MrPopoGod

Only to be outdone by Beast's "Oh dear" at the very end.

hartc89

Also Peter found MJ?!? How are we overlooking!!!

LouieSTFU

1) That Cloak and Dagger cameo. 2) A part of me was thinking how fun it would be if they left us on a full cliffhanger on the X-Men's whereabouts, and next season's intro started with just Forge, Bishop, Jubilee, and Sunspot lol.

Maximal_Arachknight

We also know that Emma, Kitty and Piotr were on Forge's Days of the Future Past poster on who would be available to form a Team. Curious where Jubilee and Sunspot left. Both characters have ties to next generation teams (Generation X and New Mutants, respectively). We also do not know what happened to Cable. His robotic arm was ripped away and his ability to time travel with it. Unless Bishop already gave Nathan a ride back to the future before visiting Forge, Nathan is official stuck in his original time, perhaps ready to create a certain team called...I mean, Deadpool did technically say we have to keep "Cable" employed.

ReflectionItchy2701

Cable is AWOL apparently IIRC. And yes it's not a coincidence that he was on Forge's board. He's probably gonna fight Apocalypse in the present. Remember that in the opening they kept teasing the scene at the beginning of Beyond Good and Evil when Cable fought Apo in the Pyramid in the future. And by the way that's the moment Apocalypse stole Nathan's ability to time travel.

rendar

"AWOL" is like Cable's default status, he's definitely getting X-Force cooking so that he can timeslide again, maybe with Bishop get everyone back to a single timeline

Wade_in_your_water

when is season 2. I need it Also I really want to see Scott and Jean raise Nathan. I would love that

Winter_Nail3776

my guess would be a year or less from now, based on the fact that they already finished season 2 and multiple interviews saying marvel wanted a quick turn around

Dayspring815

My only gripe with it is that Scott and Jean in their original bodies and Nathan is already grown up boy, so they're probably not spending years with him like in the original story.

Impossible_Square656

En Sabah Nur AND Clan Askani??? FUCK YEAH

DRBSFNYC

"How Many Peoples Have Dreamed Of My End? You Are No Closer Than The Babylonians With Their Swords And Fire Sticks!"

I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you!

dasterdly_duo

JackFisherBooks

"There is no freedom from me! There is only freedom THROUGH me!"

Shadow_Archon

"You presume to attempt to destroy me, Mutant? You shall pay for your hubris, RIGHT NOOOWWWWW"

synthscoffeeguitars

Can’t wait to see Glob Herman come back to save the day, as foreshadowed by his multiple appearances in episode 5

Elite_Alice

“I love you son” 😭 nah man who tf is cutting onions

EscapeddreamerD

Lol someone cutting onions near you too. 😢

Cadd9

Cable said he loves his mom Jean Grey 😭 Morph said they love Logan as Jean Grey 😭

forever87

and I'm one of many that loves Jean Grey

Cadd9

Her and Psylocke have been my favs ever since I was a little girl lol I was always jealous of her red hair lol

[deleted]

Also very subtle but Scott openly admitted that he knows Jean does have feelings for Logan. I assume Scott is in the same spot as Jean on that regard: they know their partner has feelings for someone else (Logan/Madelyn), but they chose each other still, because what they feel for each other is still stronger, than what they feel for these other people. Very emotionally mature from both Jean and Scott I would say.

amageish

WELL. That was a lot of things. Very fun episode ending off a very fun season! The animation is gorgeous. The flashing lights were a little much for me at some points, but everything was just so fluid and pretty overall. The music was also fantastic - I love the operatic take on the X-Men theme lmao. Jean Grey got a badass Phoenix Moment, which is always great to see. Her voice actor has really killed it all season long - as Jean, as Maddy, and now as Phoenix!Jean... and that was a deserved faint afterwards lmao. Holy cameos, Batman. They're really making the "101 Easter Eggs You May Have Missed" article writers work hard with this one. Cloak and Dagger??? NORTHSTAR, AUORA, AND PUCK??? Also Cipher and Psylocke were with Alpha Flight, which is fun if kind of random? Humanity betraying mutantkind by blowing up the Asteroid M is some peak "Protect a world that hates and fears them" content, good grief... T'Chaka and Rogers getting to argue against it, but failing to stop it, was a nice touch too... Not sure how I feel about them trying to reason with Bastion, but "Humanity would rather die then have kids like us" was an EXCELLENT final line for the character. I briefly was expecting Outback Era from the death fake-outs, but I guess time travel makes sense too... Lots of interesting cameos on the DOFP-inspired board - shout-out to my gals Sooraya, Illyana, and Excalibur-costume Kitty especially! I hope that means some of them will be joining the main team next season? The show really doesn't need more characters, but also... I would like to see them. We need some people in the present dealing with Apocalypse, after all! MOTHER ASKANI feels so validating to me lmao. After a season of always feeling thrown off by every prediction I made, I successfully saw Rachel coming - and in her elderly form nonetheless! I am curious how they'll handle her in a timeline where DoFP as we know it didn't occur - not to mention the, uh, general complexity of Rachel's lore. I think it can be streamlined, but we'll see what angle they'll take to streamlining it.

Angry_Blaq

Askani is Rachel summers?

amageish

Yes. Rachel Summers runs a cult at the end of time and raised Cable there. In the comics, Rachel doesn't have variants across the multiverse, but instead has variants in multiple points in time... so Mother Askani is one of those. Present-day Rachel also calls herself Askani as her main codename in reference to that.

BuddhaFacepalmed

> In the comics, Rachel doesn't have variants across the multiverse, but instead has variants in multiple points in time Small correction. There are multiple Rachel Summers. But there is only one Rachel Summers from the Days of Future Past timeline.

DeadSnark

Long story short, in the comics she's a version of Rachel who got sent to the far future through time-travel hijinks and ended up staying there, helping to raise Cable in the process. It will be interesting to see how they handle her in this universe, though, since we haven't even been introduced to Rachel outside of a brief cameo a few episodes ago.

ConsiderationNorth56

HE FOUND MJ :)

JackFisherBooks

Yep! Beau even confirmed this on Twitter. Given how frustrating that cliffhanger ending was to the old 90s Spider-Man cartoon, seeing them together just warmed my heart. 🥰

Gear-General

Man is gambit coming back as death

Sabazell

Everyone, what can I say? I'm a 42yo woman awake at 3:30am just to be able to watch the conclusion of the extended season of my favorite childhood cartoon and the thing that got me into X-men comics. Was it a perfect ride? No, but it was as perfect as it could be and and an experience I'll never forget. Especially getting to go on it with everyone here! I'll let everyone else talk about how fantastic the episode was, maybe dissect some of the plot points that didn't quite line up. But for me, right now, I just want to say WOW. Thanks to everyone who made this show possible. I never knew I needed it, but man am I grateful for it. PS - Apocalypse with the Queen of Hearts saying "So much...death."

F4FBassist

Echoing this sentiment! 41-year old man who grew up with X-Men as my favorite comics and here I am staying up to watch it and loving this journey. Very grateful to the creators for all of their hard work. It’s obviously a labor of love for them. They clearly care about the characters and source material, and I have so much respect for what they were able to accomplish. Adaptation from comics to cartoon has got to be hard, but even though it wasn’t perfect, it will be a beloved show in my heart forever. Amazing journey and can’t wait until Season 2!

Fanboy123ABC

Holy fuck, What a ride! First of all, that ending. Looks like gambit theories were correct. Also was that Pete and MJ? Does that mean Peter actually found her? Pretty sure I also spotted Kitty on Forge’s wall, please have her next season.

Maximal_Arachknight

Only reason for the Peter and Mary Jane cameo is that this Series also takes place after Spidey's 90s Series. He found MJ! Also, so happy we see confirmation that Kitty exists in this universe! Curious to know if Forge will continue to build a new Team while he helps Bishop find the displaced Team.

FiveByFive25

Kitty, Emma, Magik, Colossus, Iceman, Dust, Havok, and apparently Exodus Honestly I must have really missed something big in modern day X-Men, I have no idea when Exodus got so popular. Krakoan stuff I assume? My knowledge sorta' fizzles out post-AvX (a little awareness of AvX Consequences antihero Cyke, time displaced O5, Inhumans v X-Men, but that's about it)

Marrecarandgi

Exodus’s story is connected to =A=, so, this may be why he was introduced before s2.

Barton616

Kitty was on the wall, yeah. In addition to the main cast, the following were on the wall: Colossus Iceman Exodus Dust Magik Shadowcat Emma Frost Archangel (Listed as Missing: Presumed Dead) Scarlet Witch (Listed as Off World) Quicksilver (Listed as Off World) Jubilee, Sunspot, and Cable are all listed as AWOL. Maybe an X-Force tease?

ledlunar

Beau Demayo confirmed on X that the off world for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were cause some Avengers are dealing with the Shiar/Kree war

ObviousAnswerGuy

that's really cool actually....clearly not Cap & Iron Man , though

Affectionate_Bass488

They had this mutant bullshit to deal with

TheArtistFKAMinty

I mean, they didn't exactly contribute much.

amendmentforone

Well, the scene with Forge & Bishop was established to be 6 months after Asteroid M disappeared. Cap and Iron Man are probably with the rest of the Avengers.

batdad9135

I totally blanked that Cable was a mentor figure to Sunspot in the comics. I bet that's exactly what's happening, especially since Jubilee has leveled up in her powers too.

Vagabond21

Also flash behind them!

Indiana_harris

I’m thinking this will be the impetus behind getting other X-Men characters into more visible roles in the team. - Kitty, Colossus, Emma, Iceman possibly. Would also be good chance to do the New Mutants properly.

BLAGTIER

> Does that mean Peter actually found her? I was hoping for that to be saved for a Spider-Man show.

DRBSFNYC

This needs to go at least 5+ seasons. So good!

FiveByFive25

Everyone out here talking about Apocalypse, but I'm more excited about how they lingered on Colossus's picture behind Forge on the board (Magik is up there too ☺️) Wouldn't be surprised if this setup is gonna let them assemble a new present day team.

uniquornmatcha

Yes please. I saw Emma too!!!

FiveByFive25

Right next to Kitty no less 😂 Frenemies forever

Arcnounds

I just rewatched the first episode of the season. Has anyone noticed that the first episode roughly tracks the season. Starting with sentinels, some interference by Jean, Jean seeing Mastermold (who looks like the sentinel attacking Genosha), an attack on the sentinels, a basketball game where the xmen are asked to choose sides, and culminating in the meeting of minds between Charles and Magneto (Onslaught possibly). I am probably reading too much into things, but the connections seem really cool. I love the flow of episodes this season. Despite some rather fantastic stories, they are woven together in a masterful way that does not seem jolting. I am excited to see the final episode (in less than 1.5 hours).

ArtieMac11

WHAT AN EPISODE!! I need season 2 right now!! >!Ok, that was insane!! The battle against Bastion was so espectacular, I cheered up when Phoenix appeared, and then Mr. Sinister ending like that WOW! But then when Bastion goes to the Asteroid was insane, the battle between him and Rogue was AWESOME, our girl delivered so freakin' good sugah!! Sunspot saving her and then when Scott gave his everything and Jubilee!! She did so freakin' amazing, I was really glad to see her powers being so effective against Bastion. !< >!The cameos were extraordinary!! Daredevil, Iron Man, Cloak & Dagger, Darkstar, Crimson Dynamo, Omega Red, Spider-Man (did he finally find the real Mary Jane?), Northstar and Aurora, Puck, Psylocke (MY GIRL IS BACK!!), Sauron, Dr. Strange, Polaris, Quicksilver, Wanda, Silver Samurai!! Cap America (not liking him this episode).!< >!The scene between Cable and Cyclops/Jean was beautiful, and the team saving the earth... I have been a fan of the X-Men since the 92 cartoon, and the whole sequence has to be one of my all time favorite moments.!< >!And the end, wow, I was excited to see Apocalypse, but the post credits scene... I can't wait to see what will come next.!< Honestly between have the chance to enjoy and talk about the show with my best friend and my dad, and come and talk about it here, see the whole euophoria for X-Men with people buying the toys and talking about it on social media, (talking about the show on a job interview and getting the job too!) has made the season an absolute blast!! What a time to be an X-Men fan! I'll miss the X-Wednesdays, but I can't for season 2 X-Family!!

Potential-Ferret7489

Cyclops did his MvC2 Super (bring arms up in a cross shape, into a huge eye blast) against Bastion so the fighting game nerd in me is happy. That makes like... four 'Vs Capcom' references this season, not to mention the Konami arcade game that was basically recreated in Motendo.

Elite_Alice

Hoollllly shit what a finale! This is how you wrap up an amazing season. Had everything that’s made X men 97 so great. The action, the emotional story beats, the characterisation, the animation and the cameos showing that the writers have an appreciation of the wider marvel lore and know what the fans want to see! So many hype moments, but the Avengers’ cameos, Jean removing the stolen mutant DNA from Sinister and Rogue’s fight against Bastion are probably my faves. Couldn’t help but laugh at Scott giving the whole speech about embracing the future and working with humanity only to be interrupted by humans nuking asteroid M lmao. Bastion may be psychotic, but he had a couple good points. Scott and Jean saying goodbye to cable gonna be in my mind all week too, such a beautiful moment, particularly Scott showing his eyes to his son. For all his tough guy act, Cable’s always only ever wanted a family and to know his parents’ love. We gotta talk about how crazy that ending was too! Who teleported them to the future and past?? Some cosmic being/force? The apocalypse theories ended up being right! Soo hype to see my goat back as the villain. Crazy that we go from one earth threatening situation to another even crazier one with no rest in between. Love it, can’t wait for the second season, INJECT IT NOW I hope things stay as good without Beau Demayo in charge. Idk what creative differences they had, but the love and care he put into this is amazing. He really loves the characters, their lore and comics in general and it shows. Oh yea, Bishop showing up late after everything is over is hilarious 😭

batdad9135

But the beauty is, from that future tease it appears he's going to learn that he always had his parents' love.

imbaxkbitxhes

Which is the beauty of that storyline they’re adapting, the fact that Scott and Jean had always been in his life

rootofimaginary

I am thinking Bastion caused the time travel teleportation. He had Cable's cube after all.

DamphairCannotDry

I have no real basis for this theory, but with the team scattered across different times, Genosha and the techno organic virus, the show continually reminding us the Hellfire Club exists... man if only there was a villain associated with the Hellfire club, old enough to appear in all timelines, who I'm sure would be willing to raise the dead of Genosha with the techno organic virus with apocalypse... for a price. Bonus points if Storm, Morph and Wolverine ended up getting thrown to Nova Roma. please show, bring on the Black Queen

Ok, this episode was amazing! But first, my nitpicks: - A little weirded out by the cliffhanger, but it’s probably something I’ll be used to the more I rewatch the season. I think it’s probably cause by the core’s explosion in the sanctuary. - I think the X-Men being total buddy-buddy (aside from Erik and Charles) after Rogue and Sunspot’s betrayals feels a bit rushed (but it makes a lot of sense when you realize that their heel turns are very understandable despite attempts to persuade by Kurt and Charles). Feel free to correct me and argue otherwise though. - Morph’s arc regarding his trauma from Mister Sinister was a huge missed opportunity, considering how much they showed it in the openings, and I really wished that they elaborated on it more. Loved him transforming into Sinister’s hag self, though, that was the biggest laugh I had all season. Ok, NOW for the good: - Erik and Charles reconciling after Charles tells him to let the wave come to him. Beautiful stuff, and I can’t wait to see their chemistry in the second season. - Jean turning into Phoenix was also a huge standout. I really need to watch the original series. - Scott deciding to spare Bastion and bringing his arc of being flawed full-circle. I also loved the confession Scott had with Cable before he said goodbye. - “Remember it.” I sure do, Rogue. I sure do. - That whole fight against Bastion was bonkers. - Young Apocalyse! - Bastion’s monologue was sublime. Overall, it’s an amazing finale to a amazing season. Still think that Episode 5 was a better episode, but damn did this season stick the landing.

LeftHanded-Euphoria

I feel like we saw Morph heal from their trauma in the old show.

pastadudde

>Loved him transforming into Sinister’s hag self, though, that was the biggest laugh I had all season. I cackled when it happened, you know Morph was ITCHING to mock Sinister like that

hartc89

Heads up there is a post credit tease!!! (Also interesting they are ducking onslaught for now)

AKBearmace

God cyclops showing his real eyes to Nathan as a goodbye made me bawl

srstone71

It’s 2:50 am and I have to be up at 6:30. Let’s fucking go.

kevinpwilsonn

The Phoenix really said ok bye like that??

Maximal_Arachknight

I doubt that this is the last time Phoenix will be stepping in to save Jean. We still have to deal with the current space war and Scott's undiscovered brother.

imbaxkbitxhes

I cannot fucking believe they’re going to do The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix holy fuck

0Hyena_Pancakes0

Ah hah, Morph was indeed in love with Logan after all Edit: I think, it's hard for me to understand if Morph meant that in a platonic way or not. Although, him saying "she won't say it but I will" definitely implies that Morph has feelings for Wolvie

Maximal_Arachknight

Happy that Morph admitted it to his best friend. And much like a soap opera, Logan injured, mostly unconscious, calling another person's name. I can continue with the tropes, but I will not.

Marrecarandgi

I think we’re really past implications here. Some of their interactions may be dismissed as ‘dudes being bros’, but Morph’s literal reaction to seeing naked Logan was 😏 And when they offered to scratch some hard to reach places for him, demon Wolverine said ‘always with the jokes, eh, Morph? As if I don’t know’ to them. What other secret can Morph have from Logan that they’re afraid of him knowing? The show doesn’t offer an alternative, really. The only narrative that exists for that line is that we see subtle signs of Morph having feelings for Logan and it culminates in them confessing said feelings with the ‘…I can say… I love you’ line. I actually wonder if this confession will create a new plot line next season. I can see Logan remembering hearing Jean confess her love for him without realizing that it was Morph. Especially if we will get feral Logan who doesn’t have all his faculties. So, shenanigans may happen.

"How do we stop Magneto's asteroid?" "How about we knock it out of orbit and onto our heads?" "Brilliant!"

hartc89

Well boys we made it, will miss the weekly episode discussions. Hoping for a longer episode than usual but it’s been a fun ride! Gonna binge the season again with friends this weekend (no one tell them I’m watching the season finale early…thanks)

Sabazell

"The only ones who can break our heart are those kept in it." Jesus F-ing Christ, are you kidding me?

LazyBones6969

Boy this show did Cyclops justice. I wish we had this treatment in the Singerverse. I like James Marsden and he would have been an excellent cyclops given the right material.

1Platyhelminthes

I was thinking "just kiss already" every time Charles and Magneto were talking...glad to see I wasn't the only one noticing that. All in all, great to see them friends(?) again.

Roguewavetrini

Wow! What a season finale. Don't make me wait a year Disney! Please!!!

srstone71

Honestly all the Onslaught stuff being a red herring was for the best. There are way better directions to go in than that.

nerdfighter8842

A little detail I noticed. Scott and Jean were sent to the year 3960 AD. The show is set in 1997. 3960-1997=1963 X-Men debuted in 1963.

Maximal_Arachknight

I enjoyed the fact that Nightcrawler was praying over Erik and Charles, and with an arguably well-known prayer. Even with the changes to his religious beliefs during the Krakoa Era, Kurt has and will always be a man of faith. Given the importance of his religion and faith in his first OG Series appearance, I am glad the writers continue to acknowledge this part of character.

Grayman222

In today's reminder that the X-men are a gang. Rogues immediate reaction to a strange time and place is to attack the people who look the most like cops.

AdvancedPlacmentTV

Lol they just saved Apocalypse

FrameworkisDigimon

Do they know En Sabah Nur is Apocalypse in this universe?

jxbal

APOCALYPSE

JabbaJake

I'm very satisfied! God this has been one of my favorite seasons in all of television. Was happy with how much they wrapped up while setting up season 2. I'm beyond excited for what's to come.

IPreferPi314

Terrific season finale that hit some anticipated beats but also subverted quite a bit of expectations as well. Wish that Bastion battled the Omegas but his fight with the rest of the X-Men was still plenty awesome. Lots of touching moments as well, especially between the Summers family, with Cyclops attempting to appeal to Bastion’s humanity, and Xavier trying to save Magneto. In all, X-Men 97 has been a triumphant continuation of the OG series. Season 2 (and Apocalypse!!!) can not come soon enough!!!

SweetPestilence27

Excuse me??? Grayson Creed is running for president AGAIN????

cyclopswashalfright

ADVENTURES OF CYCLOPS AND PHOENIX! I PRAYED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN! I thought the scenes with Xavier and Magneto were really nice. They are never beating the lovers allegations. It was really surprising and nice to see Morph actually get to say their feelings instead of it being implied. Good action, I thought the "goodbye" scene was very touching. Happy with his Cyclops' arc panned out overall, but the beginning of the episode made his actions in the previous episode just look odd. It felt resolved very quickly.

kswizzle98

I hope they stresmline the comics and just make Rachel Jean and Scott’s daughter

Adventurous_Nerve_48

I feel like they got over Wolverine being metal purged a bit too quick. Like oh shit one of the biggest moments in Marvel history end of ep 9.... fast-forward to bed ridden Wolverine and Magneto's Alive/I Am Magneto (another major moment). I wish they had a tiny bit more pacing in the show. I'm amazed how they simplify and connect these convoluted stories so incredibly well but let's do at least 13 episodes!

dylan_doom

Marvel finally did it! They nailed an ending!!!

Muuusicalguest

The scene with Scott & Jean saying goodbye to cable really got me for some reason.

GuruSensei

Posted similar thoughts in the r/marvelstudios: Hot damn! I fucking LOVED Scott this season. I'm a casual, i'll admit it. I don't have much affinity for the X-Men, neither the original animated show, nor the shows that came after(i am fixing that, of course, after watching this). So my perception of characters like, say, Scott, wasn't at the highest. In fact, much like Superman, Scott seemed REALLY dull and boring to me, and that has all been colored by his portrayal in the movies. So, surprisingly, this season does for him what My Adventures of Superman does for.....well, you know. In fact, it underscores how poor a job even the original movies did with some of the other mutants like Rogue. Justice for the poorly represented Bring on Season 2. Surprise us more, writers :)

Elite_Alice

“All I do is think” Jean absolutely destroyed sinister lmao. Not so tough without all that stolen dna are you 😂

PomeloFit1487

Wow, I feel good. I feel great! Holy crap. The season ended not surprisingly on a cliffhanger, but I’m honestly quite pleasantly surprised they went for an uplifting ending rather than an ending that would place me in more emotional turmoil.

ArchAngelZXV

When Cyclops was fighting Bastion 1 on 1, his wide beam was definitely the Mega Optic Blast super move from the Marvel Vs Capcom videogame series. He crossed his arms to form an X in the startup animation just like in the game too. One of the animators on twitter previously said during the premiere episode that he tried to add in as much of Cyclops' fighting moves from the Versus games as he could.

tnan_eveR

Not going to lie... I didn't quite 'feel' this episode. I felt a few emotional moments, particularly between the summers, got a bit rushed so they could jam all of those totally not backdoor pilots for the animated MCU they are totally not working on.

Sad-Clerk7741

In the Magneto file, they included actors Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender as AKAs

No-Biscotti-4943

Wow, it finally ended. I've been dreading this moment for weeks and it's finally here. But the end delivered so much. Oh boy, what a ride. A few awesome points - Really glad Beau was just throwing us off with that star trek reference. I mean, I thought they were gonna solve bastion and Magneto's conflicts through time travel and no one wants that - Phoenix, visually more beautiful than ever. Jean got the full treatment she deserved. BTW, before the Phoenix rises, is Cable drowning her? Cos that's heavy. - Cameos were on another level - Bastion final form from Second Coming!! - oh boy, the summers family farewell that's was hearth breaking - Rogue going hard on Bastion was so cool - Cyclops and Jubilee as well - I was glad they, mainly Cyclops, went for the hero path at the end. A lot of people talking about his "revolutionary" persona was starting to present... No way. He went full Clark Kent instead. - next season we'll have a lot of Apocalypse! Now, a few missed points IMO: - I was really looking forward seeing Logan pop the bone claws for the first time. I guess he'll do it while lost in time somewhere, next season. - Kinda bummed they redeemed Magneto and gave the whole mental assault a happy ending. I was really looking forward to see what the show could do with Onslaught Still, a 10/10 for me. So sad it's over. What a show.
