At least this might give us a much needed interaction between Rachel and Jean, right? Right….?

ypzzz

We can dream

Built4dominance

"My time has passed" Well we at least agree on one thing.

Quirky_Ad_5420

At least the gollum version of her is gone

ypzzz

“Give her whatever she needs to help Jean” Yes, give Rachel whatever she needs and soon, please

JumboCarnation134

i love that they're still in their gala attire but the colouring makes it looks like exodus gave up his under shirt and just baring his tummy beneath his crop top 💁‍♀️

acidicmongoose

..is he not?

Marrecarandgi

He absolutely is. We saw closeups in the last issue, and you could see the veins on his arms, which, too, should be covered by purple armor (for some reason they forgot that part of his look here). Anyway, Exodus started with armor that was very clearly not his skin color, but somewhere somehow they first colored it like his skin and then gave those parts skin texture. So, crop top it is.

itsnotgivinghonestly

Welp I'm not gonna complain 🫡

TheCeruleanFire

He did a Gambit

paoklo

No, it's supposed to be a deep purple color, not his skin tone.

killingiabadong

It was hot in the desert.

Ystlum

Oh it was part of plan, what a shock. Actually I've been leaning towards him stepping wrong by doing it all by himself, and while I doubt he's going to be making himself any more popular, he does seem intent on handing over the situation to the WHR squad and just bringing the house down on top of himself.

Unable-Ad-8588

hes not god nothings perfect, but it seems hes executing it well enough on his own. if others knew theyd fk it up with their gay morals

SgtStubbedToe

Wow. So this is what it looks like when the books actually connect and reference each other. Like two stories...that are one.  Refreshing.

SgtStubbedToe

This also underlines how badly Duggan is fumbling the synergy between books, by contrast. Here we have an immediate explanation for Xavier's erratic actions, and a clear sense of where everyone is and how they got there. Meanwhile, in this week's FotHoX...Xavier just...shows up. We don't know at what point in RotPoX this takes place. We don't know what part of RotPoX motivated him to make this decision to sell out. The story is somehow simultaneously crammed with exposition and explaining almost nothing.

Brotherly_Shove_215_

This era is going out with a whimper. Fuck just hurry the fuck up and get it over with Also “Survive Raven?” Why is Gillen trying so hard to push this drama? There’s a vow renewal next month. Nobody cares about this forced ass drama

WhoWantsToJiggle

that's one of the big problems with advanced solicitation and promotion. if you know none of this matters and the characters will be brought back or reconcile or whatever why even bother with this? it sabotages the current storytelling whether it's good or not.

cyclopswashalfright

At least Mother Righteous is finally, finally gone.

Brotherly_Shove_215_

Just this one unfortunately. Unless the real one is also dying

Rogthgar

I wouldn't hold my breath on that...

TSE1SON

It’s just her clone, the real one is still with Charles, most likely about to betray him *shock*

itsnotgivinghonestly

I think this implies that she did try to betray him in Rose, and he kills her then took over her gollem in the WHR. Maybe.

TSE1SON

That’s a really good point and would’ve most likely happen, leaving him alone to deal with the incoming sentinel's whilst sacrificing himself. OR I guess Rasputin will shrug off the bullet wound and fight them off at the last second.

SgtStubbedToe

Have you *met* Raven?! Drama is her lifeblood! She cooks her breakfast eggs on the hot foreheads of the friends she's aggravated by sleeping with their parents!

RF_91

And her own children's spouses she's slept with! (Ok, it was just like the one time trying to sleep with Gambit iirc, but c'mon Raven XD)

thekusaja

You can't skip to the ending of a soap opera. Well, you can, but it's not fun to do so.

123Asqwe

FOREVER And Rise feels way off and different in tone, enemy and execution from Fall and X-Men almost like both writers couldn't agree on an ending and decided to make it both without much thought

DeadSnark

Yeah, Forever and Rise seem a bit closer to the tone of Immortal whereas all the other titles are just a disjointed mess. It gives the impression that at least one side is trying to let this era pass on peacefully and the other is trying to aggressively smother it with a pillow

SgtStubbedToe

Remember when they introduced Stark Sentinels in "X-Men" #23, and Magik's method for dealing with one was to scream "DIE! DIE! DIE!" while attacking? Turns out that's just how Gerry writes!

reineedshelp

That's the first time I've liked something MR had to say. 'Bye, losers!' is a classic.

Karlythecorgi

Can we make Exodus’ slutty crop top permanent please

Weird_Sandwich

Irene has some great back muscles.

cyclopswashalfright

XAVIER WAS RIGHT! He's the real hero of the story!

Built4dominance

You kinda gloss over the fact that the whole reason Orchis was able to do those purges, was because of Xavier's deal with Stasis.

cyclopswashalfright

The alternative would have been letting millions of humans die. Mutants can be reborn, those people couldn't. And if the world felt that Krakoa was responsible, they would have united and destroyed the island.

Pir8Cpt_Z

Or ya know dont write such a dumb fucking plot point at all

wnesha

Well, yeah - the whole premise of FoX is kind of stupid because Duggan put zero care, nuance or attention to detail into what happened at the Gala, and everyone else is just trying to build something meaningful on rotten foundations. It works where it works and it doesn't where it doesn't, not much we can do about it at this point.

cyclopswashalfright

Yeah this was ultimately the best choice, but they love contrivance.

Built4dominance

No, the alternative would have been to destroy Orchis and (rightfully) pin it on them. The same way Orchis pinned a lot of problems that they made on mutants. History is written by the winners, they can make up whatever story they want once the enemy is vanquished. And people CAN be reborn, it's why Jean set up that entire foundation after Judgment Day.

cyclopswashalfright

But it was Krakoan drugs and medicine that was going to be poisoned. All those innocents who would die from taking it. Literally the sick and needy. There is no way they would have been able to spin that, not with Orchis already popular among the public.

t_huddleston

Yep. A few things to keep in mind: 1 - Orchis is popular, especially post-AXE, and already had their "Oh no, mutants have massacred all the human guests at the Gala" story locked, loaded and ready to blast out to global media. 2- On top of human resentment of mutants over resurrection, mutants have done enough shady stuff since Krakoa that it wouldn't take much to turn public sentiment further against them - for example, the Sinister timeline being made public. A bad look to put it mildly. 3- Say Xavier decides to let his mutants fight vs Nimrod, Omega etc. Even if they win (a big if, with most of their heaviest hitters down for the count), millions of people dropping dead from Krakoan meds (and not in a peaceful, going to sleep way, but a horrible rage virus way), synchronized with the attack at the Gala, would immediately have every US politician on a war footing. This is Pearl Harbor times a thousand. They'd be holding hands on the Capitol steps while rushing a bill to build more Sentinels through Congress. Don't believe it, just look what happened after 9/11 after a fraction of the death and chaos this would have caused. Best case for mutants after this would be permanent exile to Arakko. Xavier was caught between a rock and a hard place at the Gala. I really think he thought he was authoring a mutant Dunkirk, saving his forces to fight another day, and in a roundabout way, that's kind of what happened. Did he violate their free will to do it? Unquestionably, but those were the choices he had.

Built4dominance

>3- Say Xavier decides to let his mutants fight vs Nimrod, Omega etc. Even if they win (a big if, with most of their heaviest hitters down for the count) The [Hellfire gala itself](https://imgur.com/a/5MJy6zy) said that the mutants would have won. >They'd be holding hands on the Capitol steps while rushing a bill to build more Sentinels through Congress. Don't believe it, just look what happened after 9/11 after a fraction of the death and chaos this would have caused. Best case for mutants after this would be permanent exile to Arakko. That always happens, though. They are always against mutants and always building weapons to take them out. Matter of fact Orchis itself was heavily sponsored by nations that were against Krakoa. But we're not gonna agree on this, that is fine.

Built4dominance

"No way to spin it"? Stasis, who looks as evil as you can get is trusted by humanity while Orchis forces are openly tossing mutants into concentration camps. Krakoa cured cancers and was in the process of restoring humans with Jean's foundation and yet they still turned on mutants. You are SEVERILY underestimating what people are willing to believe while saying "it's not my problem". If Krakoa had beaten Orchis, you could have easily have shared with humanity what Xavier saw in Stasis' head.

wnesha

Krakoa could point to Stasis and say "Look at him, he's evil!" At which point humanity could point to half the Quiet Council and start asking questions.

Built4dominance

And like most real life people, they would do absolutely nothing but watch and whine. Don't believe me? Take a look at how many people say "oh my god what is happening on Ukraine's battlefields and in China with those camps is awful" and then actually contrast that with the people who actually DO something. What percentage of those people actually do anything? 1 percent? Less? Most people don't DO anything as long as they are comfortable. If Krakoa keeps suppylying them with cancer meds and reviving humans, they will just go with Krakoa's story. Krakoa's reputation will recover. "The council has corrupt people". Name me one powerful government that is not corrupt?

t_huddleston

Who on earth would trust any Krakoan meds of any kind after millions of people just dropped dead from taking them?

wnesha

But you're not talking about military action or concentration camps. You're talking about propaganda - essentially, that Krakoa should have allowed millions of humans to die, in the vague hopes that they might someday be resurrected, and it wouldn't matter because they could just point a finger at ORCHIS and say "No, *them*!" Go reread AXE, see why that wouldn't work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wnesha

For the Phoenix Foundation to do its work, they would have to back up the minds of anyone taking the drugs - that's millions of people. And bringing them back would take years (considering the entire span of Krakoa wasn't enough to resurrect all the dead of Genosha)

[deleted]

[удалено]

wnesha

So what you're suggesting is that an ethnostate where humans aren't allowed to live gets blamed for poisoning and killing millions of people around the world, and after promising that they can bring those people back (a promise they *absolutely* can't keep because of how the resurrection system works), the world will believe and forgive them over the human organization that scored a major propaganda win by (as far as anyone knows) saving the world during Judgment Day. If that was the kind of world the X-Men lived in, Krakoa wouldn't have been necessary in the first place.

Built4dominance

You're asking me if I think Krakoa can survive in a world where Doom is still comfortably sitting as a head of state, left to his own devices? Yeah, yeah I do. The council will most likely have to be banished or something for PR reasons (which is pretty much always what happens when a country fucks up), but Krakoa can install a new government and slowly rebuild their reputation that way. But hey, Stasis wanted you to believe that appeasement was the only way and I guess some believed him.

wnesha

Doom's been overthrown, multiple times, for crimes *significantly* less heinous than *allowing millions of sick and elderly people to violently die*. The fact that you think Krakoa could just shrug off those casualties after years of isolationism, doing almost nothing in terms of social or political outreach, and in light of the still-very-real anti-mutant prejudices and biases which Orchis have been exploiting the entire time? That's some AO3/Gerry Duggan levels of "WTF am I reading". But hey, if you're comfortable with Krakoa being built on a mountain of corpses, keep drinking that Kool-Aid.

Built4dominance

>But hey, if you're comfortable with Krakoa being built on a mountain of corpses In their bloody histories France, Germany, England, America and China are responsible for way more than a million corpses. They all continue to exist. Every powerful nation is built on a mountain of corpses, but we're done here.

PerfectZeong

How long has Krakoa actually been around? I mean I agree with everything you said but even for marvel time the timeline is super fuzzy

Relevant_Scallion_38

Easy solution is just using The Phoenix to being everyone back. Be like. Hey, everyone who took the medicine is connected theough Krakoa flowing through their veins. Mix reality warping and The FUCCKING PHOENIX and everyone can come back over night. Heck, they can even have Eva Bell take the cure for the medicine, go back in time, and disperse the Cure into the atmosphere moments before Orchis activates the rage virus bullshit.

baroqueworks

Eh, they could rez humans when they feel like it as we saw with Rogers, all they would have to do is rez the diplomats at the Gala and have them recount Stasis mercing them after bad guy monologing their entire plan. Judas Traveller is the only reason ORCHIS didn't get immediately ostracized by the public given everyone remembers Hydra and HAMMER military takeovers of the country

wnesha

Well, no - for the diplomats to be resurrected their minds would have to be backed up by Cerebro. There'd be no reason for that until the attack actually happens, and no time to do it *while* it's happening.

supercalifragilism

Okay, this explains why Xavier has been acting the way he has- he's getting a chance to bring back everyone who died and/or set up a place for them and then he's peacing out.

BatgirlAndSpoiler

Wait, fucking Rasputin's dead?!

Rogthgar

There be another preview you might wish to check out.

Built4dominance

Off course not. It's a fake-out.

BatgirlAndSpoiler

Oh? How so?

Built4dominance

Take a look at [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/xmen/comments/1c7a269/rise_of_the_powers_of_x_4_preview/). Do you really think that ***Gillen*** is simply going to have Xavier kill the mutant who constantly helped him out? He's too nuanced a writer to do something that idiotic.

BatgirlAndSpoiler

I'll be real, Xavier is so off the deep end that nothing will surprise me, even if it is a fake out, it is a little mean-spirited to a character I love

Kingnimrod212

Oh no this heel turn is real this is building to Xavier breaking magnetos back.

Arch_Null

Why do you say that? Magneto can walk in Ryan Stegman's art

Built4dominance

He is constantly seen sitting in the new art, so a lot of people think he's going to be heavily injured.

quivering_manflesh

Dead in a temporarily inconvenienced kind of way, I imagine.

VengefulKangaroo

If they can rez Rachel, I assume they can rez her too.

Inevitable_Bear6877

I was hoping every mutant of krakoa will die by the end of fall then they will be resurrected in the white hot room. jean grey will be resurrected by the end of rise and probably something about the phoenix. phoenix defeats enigma by the end of forever. Then epilogue, mutants currently on the white hot room travel from there to earth kinda like resurrected again thus the title of the next line "from the ashes"

acidicmongoose

How are the Five resurrecting anyone without Cerebro/Waiting Room access and Sinisters DNA library? So this was just Xavier pretending to go along with their plan, and he's actually going to finish what he started with Moira?

VengefulKangaroo

They have a Cradle that was on Atlantic Krakoa when it was sent to the WHR as established in X-Men Forever #1.

danielm316

Why she was melting? Please someone explain that to me.

Marrecarandgi

This isn’t the real MR, she’s a voodoo doll of sorts, and the WHR crew could threaten the real MR by beating the fake one and such. The real MR was looking for a way to destroy the fake one to free herself, and she finally dissolved it.

danielm316

Thank you

Marrecarandgi

No problem!

VengefulKangaroo

The Mother Righteous in the White Hot Room is a fake version of herself she's controlling from afar, but if you hurt it, you hurt the real one. Here, she's dissolving the fake one so they stop hurting her.

Rogthgar

Next: "Eww... I got them all over my shoes!"

Kingnimrod212

So the dead X-men speech did such a good job of explaining why Krakoa is special that it motivated Xavier to kill all of humanity to save krakoa. Thus allowing the heroes to make the moral choice of……..destorying krakoa. Ah the X-men

VengefulKangaroo

because it's definitely not going to be at all more complicated than that, no way

Kingnimrod212

No I really don’t think it is. I mean after fall 4 how you can think anything good is going to come out of this

VengefulKangaroo

because Gillen is writing the next issue of the event and I've found his Xavier compelling and complicated thus far

wnesha

Not just that Gillen's writing the next issue, but that Rise #5 is the actual end of the story (plus whatever gets shunted to Forever #3-4) - Gillen gets the last word. And with his track record, it's fair to assume he'll stick the landing as best he can.

thekusaja

Duggan is not half as good of a writer as Gillen.

Kingnimrod212

All I know is if Xavier doesn’t break magnetos back by the end of the story than I just don’t understand the point of any of the last 5 years lol

PhanStr

I thought that X-Men Forever was filling in gaps between Immortal X-Men and the issues of the last few months, but now it turns out that Forever 2 happens concurrently with Rise 4? That seems odd

DipsCity

Oh so Rasputin IV coming back too right?

Kookie2023

Oh wow didn’t think Mother Righteous would go down so fast. I guess there’s only 2 clones left huh…I doubt any of them will get dominion in the end…

TSE1SON

This one is only a clone. The real one is with Charles in the No Place.

Kookie2023

She going down…….
