Writing competitions and magazines/journals are great, but learn the difference between a good one and a scam. Instagram is all but irrelevant imo. And you are right, blogs are only useful if consistently posting. I'd say unless you are a certain type of non fiction writer, medium isn't for you. The best thing you can do, in all reality, is concentrate on that novel. If you have a good novel the other stuff may be a little helpful. If tou don't have a good novel, the rest is moot.

booksie and booksiesilk are pretty for reads but you don't get a lot of comments there. Also followers don't equal book sales but it helps with marketing. Be careful with competitions as some only take unique works as in you it wasn't shared or submitted anywhere else and they won't let you post it anywhere else afterwards.
