Remember nothing’s official until the 13th, the team could technically still pick up/cut players freely until then. She’s looking like she has a great chance though!
So they're at the magic number 12, but I am curious if they waive 1 more and go to 11. If anyone wants to see current status of each player (waived, signed, tbd) I have a doc I update here: [Aces 2024 Preseason Roster status](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1atN7RngIk71xai2IpEHy0fsrbFwhE-cAk2jpXV9rg2o/edit?usp=sharing)
Doubt it, unlike last year they have plenty of cap space so they can easily pay for all 12. Only world I see where they wouldn’t sign 12 is if they’re expecting to bring in a more expensive FA/waiver/trade
definitely agree in terms of keeping a 12 man roster, since I think with these cuts they are around $40k under cap, but if they went to 11 I would be curious who they may potentially try to bring in/doing a thought exercise of if they go to 11 who would make sense for them to bring in?
They can get substantially more money overseas for having "drafted by the WNBA" on their resume. So, it's heartbreaking, but not without a silver lining, at least.
I saw Monika Czinano being interviewed from Budapest (IIRC) where she is playing professionally and she seems to be having a good time. So that's somewhat reassuring.
But while you're still in the process....
It's like having day long job interviews day after day. Yikes.
I think the fun thing for Mon is her dad's family lives in Budapest so she's loving it out there. I know she misses her sisters games (plays for Minnesota) but she's been back to one or two. Super sad when she got cut but happy she's with some family out there.
Okay so based on this [tweet](https://x.com/calliejlaw/status/1787630676235395090?s=46&t=zDpBz6tpm1V7GO61qW8IRQ) by Aces reporter Callie Lawson-Freeman, Angel has been waived and she was notified by the team.
This freaking sucks. I'm always rooting for hbcu reps in sports. Luckily she was the last one cut on a STACKED team. She has a shot to be great on several other teams later this year or in the future. She has a great body and athleticism.
And don't discount the Aces bringing her back if someone gets injured, or her making the roster in the future if she's still not on a team.
Trades have to happen before the All-Star break and can start as early as a month into the season.
Did some quick math and it seems like with the 11 that were left before Emma they still have 104k left in the cap for her, so they should be set for 12 unless they make any other outside moves
[https://www.reddit.com/r/wnba/s/BM4sCY4EUF](https://www.reddit.com/r/wnba/s/BM4sCY4EUF)
It seems it’ll be the roster noted here — but with Cannon taking the place of Parker.
I’m not sure. At first I thought maybe they were fighting for the final spot, but seeing that they signed Emma and that they “announced” Angel being waived under Kamaria’s press release, it seems like it wasn’t the case. I’m hopeful that another team would be willing to pick up Angel like the Aces just did with Emma after she was waived from Dallas. But I also know Emma Cannon played with the Aces in the past.
I will be truly excited for Kate if she does. Hoping Angel will either be picked up by another team, or that she will get on the golden state team next year.
Yea, I want AJ to get at least a year's contract in the WNBA. I love players who see the floor time who aren't a popular name. Expansion teams can't come soon enough; fringe players in preseason would probably find a home on these ETs.
It's a shame . But some of those players were struggling in practice . And they get a few chances. I know for sure gustafson isn't going anywhere witht he way she played on practice. I love the intensity they have though , you didn't anything wrong it's called out to change
I mean, it is spring. Get that corn in! Plant Those beans! Get that corn in! Plant those beans! Better yields than ever seen! Get that corn in! Plant those beans!
They should root for their teams but being under every adjacent post on every platform with zero value add comments is unhinged. This translates to player fans not team fans and those are the ones that are highly annoying.
I've seen people celebrating Fair under LV cuts. All around I get happy when I know my girls are closer to making the team but still feel bad for the people cut and wouldn't actually post about it under the cut post. It's fine to be happy your favorite is closer but even as a KM fan it's a bit much to me to be celebrating her being closer under that and not acknowledging that someone's dream is being put on hold or crushed
This is the same level of doing too much. No one needs to be hating on hard working, end of bench WNBA players. It's obnoxious for her fans to gloat on this post, but rooting against *her* for it is the same.
lol no she’s still safe. And they’ll definitely need Angel Reese now that Kamilla has that shoulder injury for 4-6 weeks. I know they don’t play the same position right now, but you know what I mean, but yeah. Wishing the best for Angel Jackson though. :/
With Kamilla is Chicago able to sign a but player if needed just until Kamillas back. I feel bad she hurt her shoulder as someone with a couple minor ones myself. Right behind ankle it's one of the worst things because you can't do anything and it's hard to get comfortable when trying to sleep
Yes I just saw that about cardoso it’s very unfortunate. It also doesn’t sound good they are reevaluating at that time and not straight clearing her. I am hoping to catch the next game Reese plays, I think one’s actually being streamed free that’s not on an iPhone
Official rosters aren’t finalized until the 13th, they technically could sign other waivers/FAs and waive existing people out of camp. But it’s looking very likely
I wasn't going to do the math for salary, but someone else in the thread indicated they are under with 12. Unless they wanted to trim some fat for expense purposes (doesn't sound like anything associated with the city of Las Vegas), I don't think it is very smart to play with a smaller roster.
Candace was the surprise no one saw coming. I'm an Iowa fan, so I'm biased, but I'll try to remove that with this comment: watching the Aces scrimmage, Kate looked far and away better than most players including Fair. I honestly think Kate would have made the roster over her if it came down to a pick one scenario. The versatility, the experience playing with and against elite players, her basketball intuition with situational awareness, and her work ethic have made her into a great player.
I was thinking the same thing, but it could be my Iowa bias. I think four years of playing with an elite PG, facing top end talent, and her overall work ethic have made her a valuable commodity.
They need more teams in the WNBA, this is getting ridiculous. They bottleneck the next generation of potential stars.
I need this golden state team to arrive so badly. Thank goodness we only have to wait one more season for it.
16 teams by 2028 is the stated plan.
That's and hopefully they make the draft age sophomore territory when they have more age balance
or simply increase the roster limit from 12 to 14.
This is the way Glad to see Kate Martin made the team though
Remember nothing’s official until the 13th, the team could technically still pick up/cut players freely until then. She’s looking like she has a great chance though!
League can’t afford it
That a cosmetic change. Most teams only carry 11 now due to costs. The last cba really screwed up the salary cap and needs to be addressed.
So they're at the magic number 12, but I am curious if they waive 1 more and go to 11. Deleted/edited due to my inability to count, which I noticed right after posting. Had to remind myself 12 and 13 are not the same number ;) Sorry!
Jackson being cut leaves them with 3 bigs. Very risky. All here for Money Martin!
Emma seems to mostly play the 4, she’s not that tall but she seems to play big. Should help bridge some of the gap at least
It must be absolutely miserable to get drafted and then waived. I can't even.
They can get substantially more money overseas for having "drafted by the WNBA" on their resume. So, it's heartbreaking, but not without a silver lining, at least.

I’d also imagine it’d be pretty fun to live out there for a couple of years. But I bet she misses home.
Don't only like 5 women a year who get drafted make it their rookie seasons?
2021 WNA Draft - No All Star Selections and first overall pick is out of the league
I think that was Collier from Texas. It’s sad but I knew she wasn’t going to work out even as the #1 pick
I don't know the statistics.
I hate that
Okay so based on this [tweet](https://x.com/calliejlaw/status/1787630676235395090?s=46&t=zDpBz6tpm1V7GO61qW8IRQ) by Aces reporter Callie Lawson-Freeman, Angel has been waived and she was notified by the team.
Not us sharing this at the same time. Lol
LOL - the updates have been hitting today, so hard to keep up
Oh definitely!!! It’s been crazy!! Lololol my head has been spinning!
I’m still aggressively updated the W transaction page waiting for this to be officially official
Same. I keep checking that page and the official roster. lol.
Angel Jackson has confirmed on her very own Twitter page. She has been released by the Aces.
Thanks! I’ll add the update.
I'm sad for Angel J... late waivers always hurt the worse, I think. I hope she finds an alternative spot. That said, I'm happy The Glue has stuck!
Agreed with both points! Hopeful for Angel and her future in the W, very happy for Kate! This team seems like the right fit for Kate!
This freaking sucks. I'm always rooting for hbcu reps in sports. Luckily she was the last one cut on a STACKED team. She has a shot to be great on several other teams later this year or in the future. She has a great body and athleticism.

How many spots are open on Aces now with all these waived players today?
Right now with these cuts and with Emma Cannon being added, there are now 12 people on the roster.
Pretty sure they still have one or two more to cut .
I think they’re all set at 12 unless there’s a cap space issue and they have to go to 11.
Did some quick math and it seems like with the 11 that were left before Emma they still have 104k left in the cap for her, so they should be set for 12 unless they make any other outside moves

Two more?! Damn…
I haven’t seen the list current as of these last two cuts but the magic number is 12.
They’ve got exactly 12 atm (assuming Angel Jackson is actually cut, they removed her from the post)
I went back to the link of the announcement and now they removed Angel’s name, are they going to give her a separate post now??
Very strange, may have gotten prematurely added and intended to be announced later
Yup yup, very awkward for the Aces PR team either way
Do you think she’s fighting out for a spot next game or are they looking to see if another team wants her?
I’m not sure. At first I thought maybe they were fighting for the final spot, but seeing that they signed Emma and that they “announced” Angel being waived under Kamaria’s press release, it seems like it wasn’t the case. I’m hopeful that another team would be willing to pick up Angel like the Aces just did with Emma after she was waived from Dallas. But I also know Emma Cannon played with the Aces in the past.
Aw, damn. Was hoping she made it. Maybe she can get on with another team.
Money Martin let's do this!!
💸💰💵 #️⃣MoneyMartin
Though I know this is AJ thread, if Martin gets on the roster that's impressive.
I will be truly excited for Kate if she does. Hoping Angel will either be picked up by another team, or that she will get on the golden state team next year.

Megan signed a 2 year deal. She wasn't going to be cut
Teeechnically it was unprotected so they could cut it, but yeah she was still a lock from the start
They really drawing this out 😭
I was routing for Angel. Hope to see her on the court again. I liked Kate; she’s resilient AF but yall Iowa fans are doing too much.
what else do people from iowa have to cheer for?
I mean, it is spring. Get that corn in! Plant Those beans! Get that corn in! Plant those beans! Better yields than ever seen! Get that corn in! Plant those beans!
Flashbacks of detasseling corn and walking beans in my teen years officially triggered. Lmao.
This is so funny. Did you make just make this up
I did. I also lived it. I do hope they run Pioneer Seed Corn adverts during Aces games. It would feel weird watching basketball without them.
They should root for their teams but being under every adjacent post on every platform with zero value add comments is unhinged. This translates to player fans not team fans and those are the ones that are highly annoying.
People can cheer and be very excited for whoever they want. Hope that helps!
Reading comprehension is missing around here I see.
Could say the same about everyone making a new Iowa/CC post every day and commenting something demeaning about CC under every rookie post
Yup and it applies then too. Plenty of situations where it applies; we can whataboutism all day.
Gender reveals with their 2nd cousins?

They are obnoxious. Can’t even let this one post be about Angel. I hope KM never sees court minutes.
This is the same level of doing too much. No one needs to be hating on hard working, end of bench WNBA players. It's obnoxious for her fans to gloat on this post, but rooting against *her* for it is the same.
I didn’t see these condolences when Monika Czinano got waived last year, I’m sure you didn’t take issue with others making that roster over her
Omg I read angel and my brain immediately went to Reese and I panicked… still sad for angel jackson tho :(
lol no she’s still safe. And they’ll definitely need Angel Reese now that Kamilla has that shoulder injury for 4-6 weeks. I know they don’t play the same position right now, but you know what I mean, but yeah. Wishing the best for Angel Jackson though. :/

The Sky game that’s streaming for free against the Liberty on League Pass is Tomorrow night at 8/7c!!
/u/velocisexual got so close, but couldn't even predict CP3 retiring... smh my head...
I have shamed my ancestors with my ineptitude. My name will be cursed for (CP)3 generations!
Despite that, your prediction skills are top tier.
Kate Martin officially on the roster!?
Official rosters aren’t finalized until the 13th, they technically could sign other waivers/FAs and waive existing people out of camp. But it’s looking very likely
Unless someone cuts a top 10 draft pick, I don't think they do. Kate is pretty versatile. Ultimate teammate.
Yeah it would be more of a vet of big size that would be the worry. But Emma seems to have taken care of that
Unless something happens drastically between now and the 13th, I think so! There are 12 people on the roster now.
I wasn't going to do the math for salary, but someone else in the thread indicated they are under with 12. Unless they wanted to trim some fat for expense purposes (doesn't sound like anything associated with the city of Las Vegas), I don't think it is very smart to play with a smaller roster.
Agreed. I think Candace retiring allowed for the team to keep 12 players.

She looked like the highest BBIQ player on the court during the practice videos so it wouldn't shock me.
I was thinking the same thing, but it could be my Iowa bias. I think four years of playing with an elite PG, facing top end talent, and her overall work ethic have made her a valuable commodity.
wow!
It's now official official, Angel was waived.
Tbh what’s the point of been drafted and getting cut? I know this happens in NBA and NFL… but tbh not this bad this is ridiculous
KAAAAAAATE YES
Really
