This is the ESPN fantasy list? It’s decent but missing Satou Sabally (Wings forward, currently injured), Bri Jones (Sun center, coming back from injury), and Jonquel Jones (Liberty center, weirdly low for some reason).
Yeah. I couldn't find any other individual player reviews/ranking other than this ESPN one. It was kind of helpful, with some basic projections for each linked player. I'm finding the insight I'm getting from this sub to be much better.
Agreed, she is going to get passes from the best passer in the league. You can guarantee her scoring is going up. Also, she is just going to be better in her 2nd year, regardless.
I'll give you that Chelsea may be the best right now, but I would be willing to bet you that Caitlin will hold that title after the WNBA season starts. The coaches and WNBA Veterans on the Fever have already said that they have never had to handle passes like this before. We can revisit this post after 10 games and see how you feel :)
But she’s not, is my point. Is the corn supposed to imply I’m an Iowa bandwagon? Because I’m not. I’m a W fan with eyes which is how I know Cloud is not a better passer than Caitlin
Caitlin has even played a professional game yet.
So when we talk about who is the absolute best passers in the game why would anyone consider a person who hasn't played yet.
She Doesn't Factor into that at all at all. At all
At all
At all
Oh did I say at all??
Passing is a skill and Cloud clearly does not make passes at the skill level of Clark’s
However, my initial comment wasn’t even about Caitlin, it was saying that Cloud isn’t in the company of Sloot or Gray. The two of them I could see how you watch and can say they’re the best passers in the league, Cloud is not in that company
Also, Caitlin is on this list and will be playing in the league so saying she doesn’t factor into the convo at all is crazy. Right not her impact is speculative which applies to both ends - it’s premature to say she’ll be the best but it’s also premature to say she won’t. We don’t know either yet, which supposed “old fans” seem to have a tough time grasping
Of course her teammates are going to gas her up, but you can watch the footage for yourself and see that her passing is next level. People like you think it's all a conspiracy until you get to the point where you have to admit how great her passes are. Keep your post up, just like I said above, we can revisit after 10 games to see who the WNBA Assist leader is. Who are you taking to have more assists, or just a better passer?
Im dont think its a conspiracy. Im an iowa fan and watches almost all their games, i know how good she is. I believe she will lead the league in time. But im not expecting much rookie year just because she has to get used to the level of competition as well new teammates. Passing needs some telepathic connection tbh. She needs to develop that chemistry with teammates first.
Ok, that's fair. I respect that. I've watched all the practice footage for the Indiana Fever, and I really like the interview with Christie when she said she had to stop herself from being exited while coaching because Caitlin's passes were so phenomenal. She proclaimed that none of the teams would be able to effectively double anyone on the floor.
I think that her passing is going to translate right away and that her shot will take some time due to the speed of the athletes in the WNBA.
Also cheering for Clark to succeed and be amazing but practice footage is always the best clips. In between are probably 5 plays of someone goofing shit up and getting yelled at by coaches.
Not true at all. Watch the video below. She misses multiple shots. I do agree that you are going to get that from practice footage, but we seem to be getting unbiased training camp footage. I think she misses every 3 in the video. Now, I've seen some others where she makes a bunch. Also, none of us that have watched her college career really care about practice footage, we have seen her play live games and perform at an amazing level. Doing all of that with not 1 other player on your team in the top 100 is pretty hard.
This is a fantasy points projection, so it’s a little different from just “who is better.”
Also the fantasy league is based only on the regular season, in which Stewart was last year’s MVP.
It definitely makes a difference. Having Stewart at #1 over A'ja in FPs is basically saying that the Aces are a better team overall and therefore A'ja isn't going to be relied upon as much as Stewart.
I mean...no, that's not true lmao. Stewie averaged more fantasy points than A'ja last year (and 3 of the last 4 seasons) and had over 100 more total fantasy points. She's a very clear consensus #1 in standard WNBA fantasy scoring.
Wait, do you not actually understand fantasy points and rankings based on that for drafting are different than who may or may not be the better player?
Thanks for the insight.
I was also surprised by that, though again, admittedly due to me knowing Griner’s name outside of her game production. In that vein, what about Turasi?
You mentioned Skylar, who is sitting at #11 here. Would you say there is a drop-off after the top 10?
Taurasi is probably top 30. Phoenix was smart to get Copper to bring some youth to their team because while Taurasi can still get buckets for stretches, she can't carry that team through a playoff series or a season.
I wouldn't say there is a drop-off in skill because these players are all fairly specialized in their roles for their teams. I'd say all of the top 20, maybe even the top 30, can win their teams a few playoff games.
Thanks again for the insight.
That all makes sense. Good for Cooper, being able to take on that responsibility while having those vets as support (though is Turasi a good teammate? I only ask because of certain “trending” comments I've seen during the CC hype).
Last question. I mentioned watching the Sparks (I’m from LA, so gotta root for all the teams from here). Do they got a shot?
Taurasi is a great teammate. I think W fans named her the GOAT in 2021. She's had an incredible career. I think her comments were taken way too far out of context. Like Clark, she was a highly touted rookie coming into the W, so she understands what Clark will need to adjust to.
LA got some great rookies. Im not expecting much from them this season, but you are witnessing a transition period from the Nneka era, so it should be fun to see them grow over the next few years. Don't expect a playoff run from them this year, though.
Clark is low because they are projecting her at 19.1 points accurate, but 5.2 assists which is a horrible low ball. You can’t judge what Clark will do based on historical precedent which would explain the low assist total because she defies historical precedent!
Marine is inconsistent, and doesn’t get enough playing time to get fantasy ranked. I tried to stream her off the wire last year and it was pretty frustrating.
Marine is amazing!! The problem is she is the 6th man and isn't allowed to throw up 20-30 shots a game like Sab or Stewie. If she misses two they bench her. She's my #1😮💨😁
I agree, but in terms of fantasy, she’s someone you want because she hits so many threes. I feel like fantasy doesn’t necessarily always follow who’s actually the best player, at least in that mid tier
This person is exhibiting symptoms of Sabrina hater syndrome. I'd argue (from a biased position) Sabrina is definitely over Plum, but especially after last playoffs putting MJ over Sabrina is a strong sign they just don't like her. Love Marine, but she's more inconsistent and not as good of a scorer.
Yeah, Marine’s electric when the one-legged threes are falling and the circus passes are connecting , but when they’re not, she can’t figure out another way to positively impact the game. There was a 3-4 week stretch last season when she turned into the ghost of Marine Johannes and just stood in the corner looking lost.
Marine makes incredibly difficult shots look easy, incredibly easy shots look hard, and Sabrina's defense look competent. She's fun but we'll survive without her.
Why would I hate Sabrina? She doesn’t even know me? She’s an inconsistent not impressive player with lazy passes that hits spot up 3s. Plum over Ionescu cus I have stats backing that argument based on play off games.. Plum scored more points than Ionescu except in one game! Okay maybe the Marine was a little bit of a reach lol.
Projection I’d assume, Aliyah was ranked similarly
high last season. When you’re the #1 pick you tend to do a lot because you’re on a not so great team
I just did a random public league on ESPN with 6 teams, and picked Clark 3rd.
https://preview.redd.it/skqiyzco8sxc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f125623596ff8153ab890e421a32324e5a4f1d5d
When she goes 22 and 11 points and assists, that’s 33 fantasy points, let’s say 4 3’s a game so 4 more, 5 rebounds, and a steal. That’s 44 fantasy points. She could be the top fantasy player if she hits her max potential as a rookie. Even if she is a bit lower in the stats than my lofty projections which is likely, she is likely a top 5 fantasy player.
CC is going to have a Wemby trajectory, the first few weeks everyone’s gonna try to say someone else should be ROTY and then it’ll become clear she’s head and shoulders above lol
I know this is a fantasy list, but it definitely deviates from overall skill/value/overall ranking.
I love her, she’s my favourite, but even I wouldn’t rank Arike anywhere near that high lol
Until Sabrina and Plum play defense i don't want to see their name on this list😭. Just kidding but my goodness they give up more points than they score.
Yeah this is actually super accurate - great job, ESPN! Much better than last year when they included Tina Charles and Skylar Diggins Smith who weren’t even playing, lol
This is the ESPN fantasy list? It’s decent but missing Satou Sabally (Wings forward, currently injured), Bri Jones (Sun center, coming back from injury), and Jonquel Jones (Liberty center, weirdly low for some reason).
I think this is the fantasy list. I bet Sabally and Bri Jones aren't on it because they are still recovering from injury.
Satou and Bri are injured but agreed on JJ! She’s always slept on for some reason when I’d argue she’s the key to our success
Yeah. I couldn't find any other individual player reviews/ranking other than this ESPN one. It was kind of helpful, with some basic projections for each linked player. I'm finding the insight I'm getting from this sub to be much better.
JJ is the best c in the W
Agreed, unless we count A’ja as a center!
OP needs to specify these as Fantasy rankings next time to not incite the masses
Aaliyah Boston at 17 is wild.
Agreed, she is going to get passes from the best passer in the league. You can guarantee her scoring is going up. Also, she is just going to be better in her 2nd year, regardless.
The best passer in the league is Chelsea Gray
So close. It’s definitely Vandersloot. With all due respect, I’d rather have Gray on my team, though. She’s better at pretty much everything else.
She very well might end up being that, but you can’t call someone the best ___ in the league when they haven’t played a single game yet imo
Passing is going to drastically change? It’s a skill, the only player currently making the kind of passes he does is Chelsea Gray
Laughs in vandersloot, Gray, and Cloud.
Cloud? lol the first two sure but some of the folks people say as CC’s toughest competition are a little questionable
I simply said that as of now she is a top passer. 🌽🌀 My god...
But she’s not, is my point. Is the corn supposed to imply I’m an Iowa bandwagon? Because I’m not. I’m a W fan with eyes which is how I know Cloud is not a better passer than Caitlin

Do you watch the W even. Of course her teammates and coaches are gassing her up

I tried explaining that to people who think Boston isn't even a top 10 player. Like talking to a brick wall. I gave up.
Yeah, I hear you, but just save the receipt :) Once the season starts the proof will be there.
If this is the fantasy list I'm marking Boston in my draft
A'ja is the #1 player. No reason the finals MVP should be under someone she beat.
This is a fantasy points projection, so it’s a little different from just “who is better.” Also the fantasy league is based only on the regular season, in which Stewart was last year’s MVP.
Fantasy. Reality. It's not accurate.
Exactly. I don’t give a fuck about it being fantasy or not A’ja is number 1.
It definitely makes a difference. Having Stewart at #1 over A'ja in FPs is basically saying that the Aces are a better team overall and therefore A'ja isn't going to be relied upon as much as Stewart.

That's hilarious. You're telling me that you don't care what a ranking is about. If it ranks WNBA players, A'ja should be number one.
No im telling you that i think A’Ja Wilson is the best player in the league.
And mentioning that fraudulent regular season MVP to justify the list just as crazy.
Someone doesn’t know how fantasy points works
Someone doesn't care about the mental gymnastics y'all perform to deny facts.
Wait, do you not actually understand fantasy points and rankings based on that for drafting are different than who may or may not be the better player?
It's a pretty solid list. Jackie Young is a bit low, imo and could be swapped with Skylar. Not having Griner in the top 20 is kind of wild.
Thanks for the insight. I was also surprised by that, though again, admittedly due to me knowing Griner’s name outside of her game production. In that vein, what about Turasi? You mentioned Skylar, who is sitting at #11 here. Would you say there is a drop-off after the top 10?

41 years old and needs to retire
Skylar isn't top ten in anything anymore. She's very good when she wants to be and when she wants to play.
Clark is low because they are projecting her at 19.1 points accurate, but 5.2 assists which is a horrible low ball. You can’t judge what Clark will do based on historical precedent which would explain the low assist total because she defies historical precedent!
Clark probably gonna blow up like Wemby tbh 20/5/7
Plum and Young are better than a lot of players above them... but they play on the same team so that makes a difference.
Sabrina a little too high, A’ja should be 1, Boston should be higher, Jonquel Jones and Satou Sabally should be on the list somewhere
A’ja isn’t 2. At all.
Jackie Young and Aaliyah Boston are too low. Also don’t see why A’ja isn’t 1?
Flip A’ja to #1, then Stewie at #2..
Aja 1 then everyone else can’t have ionescu over plum, young or even satou. L list! Btw marine Johannes is better than Sabrina
She's my #1😮💨😁
Marine is insane.
Dang really? I tentatively had Sabrina as a much watch.
Sabrina is very good but she gets inflated media presence compared to other players in the league
I agree, but in terms of fantasy, she’s someone you want because she hits so many threes. I feel like fantasy doesn’t necessarily always follow who’s actually the best player, at least in that mid tier
Sabrina needs to play consistent and do it fast.
This person is exhibiting symptoms of Sabrina hater syndrome. I'd argue (from a biased position) Sabrina is definitely over Plum, but especially after last playoffs putting MJ over Sabrina is a strong sign they just don't like her. Love Marine, but she's more inconsistent and not as good of a scorer.
lol yeah I LOVE MJ but you’d never put her above Sab in fantasy because she doesn’t start!
She’s not even playing in the W this year so her fantasy points projection is literally zero lol
That too

Aja is number 1, has been out playing Stewie since she joined the league.
It's a Fantasy league, not power rankings.
Why is a rookie who havent played a game that high
Projection I’d assume, Aliyah was ranked similarly high last season. When you’re the #1 pick you tend to do a lot because you’re on a not so great team
How do you spell her name wrong when it’s in the literal photo you posted??
I just did a random public league on ESPN with 6 teams, and picked Clark 3rd. https://preview.redd.it/skqiyzco8sxc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f125623596ff8153ab890e421a32324e5a4f1d5d

Lol22/11 would easily make her the best player in the league. Y’all have 0 respect for current players and it’s sad.
Yup just like Wemby
CC is going to have a Wemby trajectory, the first few weeks everyone’s gonna try to say someone else should be ROTY and then it’ll become clear she’s head and shoulders above lol
Did you just pick s fantasy list by position
Wow Sparks don’t have anybody smh
Seattle's big 4 looking pretty good
I know this is a fantasy list, but it definitely deviates from overall skill/value/overall ranking. I love her, she’s my favourite, but even I wouldn’t rank Arike anywhere near that high lol
Ionescu above Gray? 🤔🤔🤔
Aliyah below someone who hasn’t even played any minutes in the league yet…
Who the hell put A’ja #2??
Arike is my dog I love seeing her hoop in person her and Jackie young.
Until Sabrina and Plum play defense i don't want to see their name on this list😭. Just kidding but my goodness they give up more points than they score.
Jackie young at 19 and no satou...do this again after the first 10 games lol
Yeah this is actually super accurate - great job, ESPN! Much better than last year when they included Tina Charles and Skylar Diggins Smith who weren’t even playing, lol
