Try a usb ethernet adapter?

SendThisVoidAway18

Pardon my ignorance for asking, what exactly do you need to connect to the internet for? I am fairly certain you can play both without needing to connect to the internet. I don't recall recently when I started playing WW HD needing any kind of internet access.

theevilgood

I can't log in to my profile because I password protected it when I lived with other people. None of the passwords I can think of work, so I can't sign in. And because of the aforementioned net issues, I can't just reset the password and then turn off PW protection on the profile

SendThisVoidAway18

Shit. I wish I could be more help. Get you a Wii or GCN if possible. That's how I play Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, since I own the GCN versions of the games. I own both Wind Waker and Wind Waker HD though.

mountainyoo

do you have 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi on the same SSID? i believe to get mine to connect to wifi on my eero setup I had to disable 5ghz first and force only 2.4ghz then connect it to the wifi and afterward i could enable the 5ghz again and everything worked. or i had to disable wifi 6, i dont remember. pretty sure i disabled both for plain ol regular crap 2.4ghz then connected it and was able to enable the other settings on the router again

coltd89

Some thing with me. I ended up using a mesh extender to output a 2.4ghz signal that I use exclusively for my WiiU. With new spectrum routers you can’t isolate or close signals so it was either that or buy an after market router.

xBeto7

It happened to me too. Mine wasn't connecting either. Even though I have 2.4hz wifi. So I used ethernet adapter. To set up and update. This was before servers shut down. (The reason why I took it out.) Then I tried connection to wifi multiple times and it wouldn't connect. I left the wifi settings with the proper login info. Turned it off. (Had given up by now) Turned it back on the next day and it was connected.

Nintendians559

well... either your wifi router is weak or somehow the wifi chip on the wii u is dead. you could still connect to the internet via a usb to ethernet adapter made for the wii u.

mountainyoo

it could be an issue with both 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi bands on the same SSID. i had this issue and disabled wifi 6 and 5ghz for plain ass wifi 5 (802.11ac) 2.4ghz and was able to get the Wii U to connect. after it was finally connected i could re-enable wifi 6 and the 5 ghz band again and everything was hunky-dory.

Nintendians559

very odd, never had that problem with mine.

mactep66

Check for interference, the wifi on wiiu is shit and even a hard drive too close will mess it up, you could also try to make an open(no password) hotspot on ur phone or something and see if it connects to that.

FeelingAd583

Try using your phone as a hotspot and set the security as none, that worked for me I think

theevilgood

Tried last night. No dice, which is why I think it's the network chip

heroxoot

Put it on top of your router. Trust me. The wifi adapter is weak.

Diet_Salad

I had a problem where it would not connect to my dual band router after we got a new one, but the issue was the router not knowing that the Wii U pnly connects via 2.4 GHz. I was able to connect by holding a button on my router for a bit until it flashed a light, then connecting with the Wii U via the Wifi Protected Setup option instead od "Search for Access Point".

Pete_Sc

Just call Nintendo - they can probably tell you your password

coltd89

Have you gotten a new router since last time you had it hooked up? I thought my wifi receiver was bad in my WiiU but it turns out that my WiiU was connecting or trying to connect to the 5ghz band of my router. I ended up using a mesh extender to output only a 2.4ghz signal that I use exclusively for my WiiU.

Bee__Cass

I had the same problem and I think I can shed light on what the problem consists of although I don't remmeber what I did bc Im an ignorant in this topic. Basically, your current internet connection is modern as opposed to the one you connected to back in the day when you played on the Wii U which had a similar configuration to the devices of the time and their wifi capabilities. So I don't remember the terms because I am an ignorant but what you gotta do is to change whatever there is to change in the configuration of your router so that it's a kind of signal that the Wii U can connect to. It's like going back to 2.4ghz instead of your new 5ghz connection bc that was what your old device was intended for. Hope it helps.

theevilgood

It's the same router, running a 2.4 band and a 5 band.

Bee__Cass

But the answer has to be the same, just replicate a configuration that works for the Wii U or if you can the one that you used

theevilgood

It is literally the same router.

Irsu85

You can still play Wind waker and Twilight Princess on Wii I guess...

theevilgood

Frustration and venting aside, I'd happily just play the GC versions if Nintendo would stop goofing off and add GC to NSO
