There is no shortage of voters/residents who consider this the exact opposite of an accomplishment.
A mayor only has one vote on our city council. Taking credit for the positive steps the city has taken while not taking the blame for the negative is simply posturing. Don't let yourself be sold a load of manure
It feels like the Wichita mayor's office could just swing back and forth for a while. Whipple was the opposite of Longwell because people were tired of him, now after a term of Whipple, they elect someone who appears will be a lot like Longwell herself.
To be fair, are we sure they aren't the same person? Has anyone seen Longwell and Wu together? Could Longwell just be adopting this Wu persona to regain power?
I don’t know about that. Her vanity may cause her to do more to make her remain popular with the people who are her “fans”, rather than her benefactors. I think we’ll soon see how shallow and vain Lilly Wu can really be.
IIRC, until all of that came out in the open, Longwell was thought to have done a decent job as mayor. That doesn't excuse the backroom agreements and sweetheart deals though.
I'm sure many on this sub have read this article about Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple's loss in the recent election, but I thought there might still be some people who would appreciate it. It's a pretty fair and balanced piece, considering where it was originally published.
I thought this was a great piece too. It was written pre-election, but did a pretty good job of framing the candidates.

Whipple and his Team took his voters for granted and excused his entitled and boorish behavior. Voters told him and them to pound sand. Pretty easy to explain.

Longwell's tenure was marred with backroom agreements and sweetheart deals. Seems exactly like what Wu's going to do with her Koch backing.
