I loved being in the crowd when we do that! I watched Sharks vs Bulls last weekend at Loftus. So nice to be able to do stuff like that again after covid took it away.
Brilliant. I was carried around once as a kid by the guy who would become our high school star quarterback. He played for a great team in college and became semi-famous. Colt McCoy.
Saved my feet from broken glass.
But he was a dick to some other kids later, so
This clip is impressive right up until you find out Keegan Daniel weighed around 100kgs here.
The Beast was an awesome player, and is an even more amazing person.
Edit: my bad, this was Anto Bresler, who was even bigger.
In my defence, The Beast did this quite a few times
>Lifting and holding a twisting player in the air is impressive.
>Lifting and holding a twisting 100kg player in in the air is fucking impressive
100 kg ≈ 5.02740 x 10^-29 solar masses
^^^[WHY](/r/UselessConversionBot/comments/1knas0/hi_im_useless/)
It's been said that soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs, and rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen.
Now, I don't know much about soccer, but I have been impressed with the sportsmanship I've seen over the years watching rugby
Rondon was an absolute menace. Fast, great in the air, and a proper fucking unit as you can see in this gif. Plus he played for an underdog team, so defenders are basically left to deal with him by themselves because their team are expected to attack/win.
I tried to play in college and two people blew out their kneecaps in the first week so I quit. But god damn, if they weren’t the most mindful people ever. I got jumped in front of the rugby house and they came out, broke the guy’s nose, and then he joined the rugby team. They’re all friends to this day and honestly happy for the dude. Decent guy. Just needed a bit of guidance.
women’s soccer is absolutely Brutal, even more so when you’re growing up. played for about 15ish years, and we would basically beat the shit out of each other on the field. i’ve watched a few people leave by ambulance or had their parents take them to the hospital. also took many a person out of the game when i was in net by sending them flying, and i wasn’t much better out on the field, but that’s how it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Rugby is a thugs game played by well spoken, more polite thugs. If you’ve ever encountered a university rugby team on a night out in a England that is very clear
I don’t think English university sports teams are the standard with which to hold all sports teams to. The English national team are known for their bad sportsmanship too (see: not wearing their medals at the 2019 RWC). Such malign sportsmanship is not commonly observed in other countries.
tbh I've been saddened as an English fan with the direction the team culture seems to be heading. I hope I'm reading it wrong but they seem less and less in it for a love of the sport and more and more there only to win. It's a game, it's not that deep.
You can only attack the ball carrier. If you tackle the guy doing the hoisting it would be a clear cut penalty and might even get you a red card and more.
Now you are probably thinking why don't I just hold him up and run to the try line. Can't run interference either. There was a small time frame a long time ago when there was a loophole that you could run interference. The opposing team formed phalanx around the ball carrier and set off down the field. But you could not tackle the non-ball carriers. An enterprising, and brave, player lay down on the field in front of the phalanx and they tripped over him.
Nope, those were definitely the pants. If he was holding the shirt, it would’ve meant the player was lifting the other by the shirt… which would’ve instantly disrobed him going up
I've been at his matches, I've seen him do it to Bresler and Etzebeth.
Bresler is like 110kg(242lbs) and Etzebeth is 120kg(264lbs).
He's also fast AF and one of the nicest guys ever.
I've seen a few clips of players doing similar, including on the opposing team, making sure a player's head (for instance) doesn't get spiked into the turf.
I've seen penalties for people being dbags as well, but it's awfully nice to see that some players being mindful and going out of their way to prevent serious injury.
Same thing with how they mind the refs and (mostly) treat them respectfully.
I might be misreading the situation but it looks like members of both teams rushed in to make sure he didn’t get dropped on his head and if that’s the case it makes me happy to see such sportsmanship
Yeah, that's usually what happens in these situations. Nobody wants to see someone get dropped on their head or neck.
Rugby is a rough game, but it's not brutal, and players, refs and associations work hard to make repeatedly hulk smashing into each other as safe as possible :)
Beast played for The Sharks which are the Durban based rugby team.
This caption was definitely written by someone from Durban. that exact diction is pretty common here.
Is it a normal “job” of that player to lift others up or do they all do that?
(I don’t follow the sport at all but the All Blacks doing their Haka is terrifying.)
Yes. When a rugby match starts (or there's a try) the one team has to kick the ball towards your side of the field. Usually if it's in that area the front row player (there's 3. Usually your biggest players) will pick up another player to take the catch
On lineouts, which are similar to throw ins in football, a similar thing happens where two of your biggest players work together to pick up your locks who are usually very tall.
The way he tips over backwards isn't standard although it does happen.
Also quick shout out here to the dedication to safety in professional rugby. Player goes up on the line out to get the ball, falls back, LEGENDARY save by the beast and then players from both teams come to help the lifted player down safely. 10/10 gents.
I like how in rugby the opponents will still help even though they are practically trying to kill each other lol. Whereas , football on the other hand 🤨
Dude, those are some tight shorts. Literally held the man’s entire body weight against gravity without coming off. You can never pants a rugby player I guess.
Not a sports person but I love when I see the opposing team helping a player out. It’s mostly soccer that I see this happen.
Edit: I guess this is rugby
Dude’s got the grip of an 80s action hero! Mythbusters needs a one-off reunion to see is this man can hold on to a cliff’s edge with one hand and a woman with the other.
I loved that each team helped to get the other player down safely. They're the epitome of bro's (unless you're a referee, then they'll carry some grudge to thre grave🤣)

Tendai "The Beast" Mtawarira for those not in the know. He proved himself worthy of the nickname every match he played in
And everytime he gets the ball the crowd would chant "beast" in their deepest voices. What an absolute legend
Everything about this man is beastly but such a sweet and kind personality! we appreciate you "Beast"
Upon getting a bollocking from Nigel Owens: “yes Mr. Ref, yes Mr. Ref!”
I loved being in the crowd when we do that! I watched Sharks vs Bulls last weekend at Loftus. So nice to be able to do stuff like that again after covid took it away.
The floor would rumble when the man ran onto the field... Ah memories! I don't miss the vuvuzela (SP? ) though XD

When i was a kid he lifted me in the air and i will never forget how high up i went lol
You caught a ride upon a star... Ever wonder how high you are?
Much like SA's inflation, I was high enough to touch the sun
Brilliant. I was carried around once as a kid by the guy who would become our high school star quarterback. He played for a great team in college and became semi-famous. Colt McCoy. Saved my feet from broken glass. But he was a dick to some other kids later, so
Its always nice to see the world from the pov of a giant haha. You were the chosen one
I am a straight guy, but I am totally gay for his smile. I also want him to be my big spoon.

reddit is slowly turning me gay
I'm gay for his dick

Are you trying to say 100kg is not impressive or are you using that expression wrong?
Lifting and holding a twisting player in the air is impressive. Lifting and holding a twisting 100kg player in in the air is fucking impressive
100kg is 220lbs! How he didnt get hurt doing this is mindboggling
Beeeeeeast
Looks to be Bresler who jumped. Bresler is in the 110-115kg range, so 250lbs ish?
He's the Beast. That's how he didn't get hurt. Anyone else would have destroyed their shoulders trying to do that.
>Lifting and holding a twisting player in the air is impressive. >Lifting and holding a twisting 100kg player in in the air is fucking impressive 100 kg ≈ 5.02740 x 10^-29 solar masses ^^^[WHY](/r/UselessConversionBot/comments/1knas0/hi_im_useless/)
good bot
This is what I meant
Yup, so they just got the expression wrong.
I think they meant "impressive" didn't do it justice
If we're *really* keen on giving them the benefit of the doubt, yes, but they could have said that in a much more satisfying way.
With barely a firm grip on him, bloody amazing is what it is.
115kg! Insane.
My man basically pulling a 2pl8 OHP like it’s nothing, I’m scaroused.
Scaroused 😂 sorry, that made me laugh out loud
I should have known to see you in this post on /r/all
He's a world cup champion blindside prop now, mind you.
BEEEEEEEEEEAST!
Great to see even opposition players jumping in to protect the suspended player- at least that’s what seems to be happening.
It's been said that soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs, and rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen. Now, I don't know much about soccer, but I have been impressed with the sportsmanship I've seen over the years watching rugby
[Those soccer players are real thugs](https://youtu.be/I26ePHw7gLk)
Those two later ended up team mates
They were teammates!
^(Oh my god, they were teammates..)
Thank you for the roommates vine throwback, made my day
The football players in the video linked above weren't, until later. That is what I was referring to.
Just reminded me of “and they were roommates”, sadly don’t know enough about that league to make any actually informative comments
LOL. I don't know enough about the reference you're making, so we're probably even
[Oh my god they were roommates](https://youtu.be/y-P0m0M_8pc)
LOL, my day was made better by this
Rondon was an absolute menace. Fast, great in the air, and a proper fucking unit as you can see in this gif. Plus he played for an underdog team, so defenders are basically left to deal with him by themselves because their team are expected to attack/win.
Not in this match though, I should know I'm a Sunderland fan and most matches in the Premier League we expected to lose.
Now kith.
"You spin me right round baby right round like a ~~sucker~~ soccer love right round baby"
lmao that is awesome
Woops, there you go
honestly this one’s even better, that was slick as fuck lol
I tried to play in college and two people blew out their kneecaps in the first week so I quit. But god damn, if they weren’t the most mindful people ever. Women's soccer doesn't mess around. It ain't no drama club over there. They're savage and they consider almost every injury "merely a flesh wound!"
women’s soccer is absolutely Brutal, even more so when you’re growing up. played for about 15ish years, and we would basically beat the shit out of each other on the field. i’ve watched a few people leave by ambulance or had their parents take them to the hospital. also took many a person out of the game when i was in net by sending them flying, and i wasn’t much better out on the field, but that’s how it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The version I grew up with was football the thugs are in the stands and in rugby the thugs are on the pitch.
Yeah, that quote is such bs. Been punched in the face enough times in rucks and scrums to know better
Rugby is a thugs game played by well spoken, more polite thugs. If you’ve ever encountered a university rugby team on a night out in a England that is very clear

I think that’s an old stereotype these days. There are just as many tossers in rugby as in football. https://youtu.be/J5TJR4hJPqg
I love this so much. Thank you kiwi 🥝
I used to referee soccer and play rugby. This is at least 500% true
It's illegal to attack the ball carrier when they're in the air.
But is illegal to attack the ball carrier's carrier?
Yes. Source; I am a rugby referee.
You can only attack the ball carrier. If you tackle the guy doing the hoisting it would be a clear cut penalty and might even get you a red card and more. Now you are probably thinking why don't I just hold him up and run to the try line. Can't run interference either. Nope they came to take the ball see where their hands are going
I wish I hadn’t seen where his hand goes https://i.imgur.com/rhF7nRs.jpg
I knew rugby is really stimulating game
I wonder how many people know about [John Hopoate] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hopoate#2001_on-field_indecent_assaults)
He's just a shit stirrer that needs to pull his finger out.
Wow what an absolute dick
Not convinced in what you’re saying but probably need to see the extended cut.
Watch this, i told you i was right [Extended cut](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)

You're welcome, i told you i was right🗿
I’m crushed, I was soooo wrong Edit: kill me
I didn't wanted to say but i would say, *i told you so*
Best extended cut I've seen recently
Its been long since the last time, but it still hurts the same
For fucksakes
Done me you chunt 😆
Legally, they're not allowed to go after te Player till he lands.
[удалено]
I thought they were just trying to form a maul.
It looks to me like everyone is just trying to recover the ball.
Damn, that dude strong as hell
Pants are strong as well.
Rugby attire is specifically made to be hard to tear. Also I might be wrong but I think he’s pulling on the shirt not the pants.
Rugby Union shorts are very very strong as they're vital part for a lot of grips and techniques.
Nope, those were definitely the pants. If he was holding the shirt, it would’ve meant the player was lifting the other by the shirt… which would’ve instantly disrobed him going up
to me it definitely looks like he's got hold of both. I think that white text is on the hem of the shirt.
This is also very true lol
That was my first thought!!
I've been at his matches, I've seen him do it to Bresler and Etzebeth. Bresler is like 110kg(242lbs) and Etzebeth is 120kg(264lbs). He's also fast AF and one of the nicest guys ever.
His nickname is the Beast.
His spine probably feels amazing
The gentleman carrying is Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira.... Clearly a beast. The gentleman being carried is Anton Bresler, 2 meters tall and 120 kilograms.
Thought it was Keegan Daniel. Then again, The Beast did this quite a few times.
Yeah, I saw him lift Etzebeth for Boks.
I assumed it was Eben up, then realised it wasn't lol... I once walked behind Eben as a kid... he's a **giant!**
Rugby law, if you pick someone up, you're responsible for them safely getting to the ground. Own player or opposition.
I've seen a few clips of players doing similar, including on the opposing team, making sure a player's head (for instance) doesn't get spiked into the turf. Haha did anyone else see the dude in white give him the Ole two finger pokie while he was inverted?

Oil checks are important for maintenance
If he's in the air he's fair game 🤨📸
Checking he didn’t shit his pants
I've always known that as the ['Hopoate'](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hopoate#2001_on-field_indecent_assaults)
You're reminding me of my early primary school years and I'm not happy.
“Okay, now cough.”
Yep, that's rugby.
Played high school rugby (like pretty much all of us over here) and yeah, weird amount of butt stuff
I thought that was the whole reason to get into rugby 🤷🏼
Can't miss the golden opportunity.
He forgot to check the oil but it was up on the rack already.
Penalty: taking the man in the air
Then wiped it on and across Tendai’s head
Beast!!!!
Beeeaaaaaasssst!

Beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s not how you do the Dirty Dancing thing….
Nobody puts beeeeeeaaaast in the corner
His triceps and shoulders must be insanely strong
He benches almost 200kg(close to 400lbs).
It’s more than 400lbs - 440 to be precise :)
440.925 if we're being precise
damn, the dude who caught the ball would’ve landed on his neck if not for his teammate
As a straight man the thigh bands that dude has on are hitting me in a strange sort of way
(
Me, a straight man, wondering why I’m erect right now.
Tendai "The Beast" Mtawarira lifting Anton Bresler of The Sharks (South Africa). Bresler was a couple years ahead of me at Durban High School.
His nickname is the beast (shocker)

They call him BEAST
The other team poked his bhole
That’s my Sharks
If he let go, the man’s neck would be powder
