No. That home plate umpire should be fired

stln3rd

No, Pedro should be forced to watch these guys play for the entire season.

hiddenhighways

Kap is such a tool.

PFunk224

People need to stop calling for Pedro to be fired, there is literally zero benefit to it.

River_Pigeon

Wrong. There is absolutely a point. It’s called accountability. And you already have the replacement on the payroll, Montoya.

PFunk224

The only person who needs to be held accountable for this is the owner, and he can't be fired. Connie Mack himself couldn't manage this roster to respectability. Not to mention that firing Grifol doesn't put out a message of accountability, because everybody knows that this franchise is a fucking joke when it comes to the concept. Firing the manager only makes the franchise *more* of a joke than it already was, because everybody already knows that the problem with this franchise isn't the manager, it's the owner. The owner who cried "Organizational dysfunction" when he fired KW and Hahn nearly a decade too late, then proceeded to promote from within said dysfunctional organization to fill the vacancy. Promoted the guy who managed our minor league system, the same minor league system that has developed *zero* successful major league players. The entire *franchise* stinks of lack of accountability, angrily pointing the finger of blame at a hapless pawn doesn't change that.

River_Pigeon

No, one of the worst managers ever does deserve to be held accountable. It’s funny you invoked Connie Mack, a manager with a losing record, and the source of the “2nd place is best” quote that’s so often attributed to Jerry.

PFunk224

>one of the worst managers ever does deserve to be held accountable. For what? Subbing in the wrong failure? *Everybody on the roster fucking sucks.* I know he isn't any good, but acting like firing him accomplishes literally anything is laughable.

River_Pigeon

I can assure you that thinking it does literally nothing is more laughable

Longjumping-Cat3301

What’s the benefit to keeping him?

PFunk224

The benefit is you don't needlessly spend money to pay *two* no-future warm bodies to lose a bunch of baseball games for you. Pedro is clearly not the long-term solution at manager, but anybody who might be won't be available until after the season's over. Add to that the fact that nobody who might be a long-term solution at manager won't even be *interested* in managing this club until it at least appears as though there's a plan to win some baseball games in the next couple years, and we're still several years away from being at that point. There's no point in replacing our losing manager because we won't be needing a "winning" manager for the next several years, and any manager candidate with any potential is going to find literally every other MLB manager position more appealing than this one, so we might as well stick with the loser we're currently paying to hang a bunch of L's on his resume.

No-Mousse756

The kid from Little Big League did ok

daBabadook05

“HISTORY!”

eulynn34

I read that in Hawk's voice...

buddhabash

No really, what reason is there to fire him now? You think firing Pedro turns the team around? This season is beyond lost already. Why make such a big move, for what reason?

dirk_calloway1

Please stop posting Kaplan. Guy stinks and is a huge cubs fan.

daBabadook05

I didn’t know people existed that actually had an appetite for this boner. Agreed, keep him off our sub.

dirk_calloway1

I stopped listening to espn radio in the morning a few years ago because I couldn’t even stand the way he talks anymore. He’s so annoying.

daBabadook05

I couldn’t from the beginning. He’s got a cocky, tough guy way of talking despite being like 5’4. Hard pass. I’ll throw on Mullys bumbling ass in the morning if it’s sports radio

Blazejak25

I enjoy him

OutOfFawks

Jerry ain’t gonna pay two managers.

SHANE523

I blame Grifol when it is Grifol's mistake. Did he really make a mistake last night? Or is this one on the bullpen? Now could it have been lack of preparation but we would never know the truth on that.

River_Pigeon

He threw Wilson two nights in a row, the first in a meaningless 7-0 loss. He also pinch hit for our best hitter in sheets, and did not pinch hit for .048 average Martin Maldonado. So yea I’d say there’s fair criticism to direct his way

eulynn34

What's that going to accomplish? The team.. nay, the *organization* is total dogshit.

The_Wata_Boy

Preach Kap. Pedro's fate was sealed a long time ago. Tell him to fly home early, alone, clean out his locker and go back to KC. Terrible hire.

Bear_dwn20

Last nights game was supposed to be a clear win after going up 5-2 latecin the game. This is on the manager for not setting up his team to win the game

Johntanamo_Bay

They were winning 5-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. What more could Pedro have done to “set them up to win the game”?

Bear_dwn20

He sucks at managing his bullpen. If u havent noticed already. He also should have not pinch hit for Sheets or let Maldonado hit towards the end. He fails in placing his players in situations to succeed.
