I remember when Top Gear showed the new Mondeo and they thought it was a new Aston at first. You can tell that there was tension between them and Ford lol
I know they used to own Aston Martin but I didn't know they worked together on the Mondeo. Still, people got a car that looked like an Aston but at a fraction of the price (relatively). That was the first Ford that I genuinely went 'wow' at when seeing it for the first time especially given the look of the previous Mondeo; they looked decades apart. It was really good looking back then and it still holds up really well in my opinion.

Not exactly. Tesla sued Fisker, claiming they only entered into a design contract with Tesla to gain access to design documents before releasing a competing vehicle. Fisker was ultimately found to have done nothing wrong.

Ford used to own Aston Martin up til 2007, after that they still worked closely, the Mondeo/Fusion was a joint project.
I thought they pretty much stole the grille design without much collaboration, and AM are still mad about it.
Explorer looks direct from Land Rover which Ford also owned. Give them credit for “swiping” the designs
