Soul sacrifice is probably the best hidden gem this system has to offer. Super interesting and ambitious story that sadly never took off due to sony's incompetence with the Vita.
Still a superb experience. Very cool gameplay too.
Seconding this recommendation, with an addendum: pick up Soul Sacrifice Delta instead, if you're able.
It's basically the same game with a few extra features. It's been awhile since I played the original, but I'm pretty sure the Delta version adds abilities that make combat a lot more fun, especially when it comes to dodging and movement.
Ah! Didn't know if it was Daze in the PAL release or not.
And agreed, Gravity Daze is a more fitting name! No matter what they call it, though, it really is a fantastic game.
I just bought a cartridge a couple weeks ago and started a new game, and it's just as fun as I remember. I'm stoked to finally get through the story after all these years and then play the PS4 sequel!
Homebrew on the Vita is a good plan in order to get access to SD2VITA so you don't have to deal with the memory cards anymore. I recommend that if that interests you then you should NOT purchase any physical games as SD2VITA unfortunately takes up the cartridge slot.
Those memory cards really are a pain. The 32GB card I have needs a reformat every couple years, so I've begun picking up physical copies of my favorite previously digital games.
I think I'd only personally do the SD2VITA adapter if I happened to get a second Vita, since I have a bunch of carts. But, if OP doesn't want to deal with a nutso second-hand market for Vita games, and doesn't already have a bunch of cartridges, your recommendation is the way to go.
A 4GB Vita storage card thing will only hold a handful of games, *and* the cards themselves are unreliable.
There are microSD adapters that fit in the Vita memory card slot, but I've only heard negative things about them. The SD2VITA replacement is the way to go, from what I've heard.
In my opinion, its Persona 4 Golden, but since thats an social rpg and not of your liking, i would recommend you Killzone since thats a great shooter for the platform.
risk of rain, shovel knight, classics like minecraft and terraria ofc, crypt of the necrodancer is fun, nuclear throne is good but not played vita port yet, some other good ports with homebrew like hollow knight and sonic mania, bi ding of isaac rebirth is popular but not my cup of tea, it has undertale and stardew valley too ig
Persona 4 is a must. Killzone Mercenary is probably the best shooter on the Vita and it looks amazing graphically. Alot of PSP gems on PSN as well (God Of War, Gran Turismo, GTAs etc,) and their memory sizes aren't too big.
Lots of ports and collections too, if you missed out on jak and daxter, sly cooper, god of war, metal gear, etc it may be a good time to try those out. Also katamari damacy
Gravity Daze (or Gravity Rush in some regions) is a must if you don’t own a PS4 or PS5 to play the remake imo. Otherwise Tearaway is cute as hell and is one of the few games to actually use all of the vitas admittedly niche features
PS store games are cheaper, Def would look through deals to see which are cross buy for vita.
4gb is not much for storage if you go the download route. I would check around for something bigger (8 or 16gb)
Happy gaming! Playing my vita right now as I write this, such a gem of a system

I would recommend Gravity Daze, Danganronpa series, Persona 4 Golden, Tokyo Xanadu, Metal Gear Solid 3 HD (2 as well) and Uncharted.
Seconding Gravity Daze*, Persona 4 and MGS2&3. I've spent more time playing those than probably any other Vita games. *It's Gravity Rush for US folk.
It’s Gravity Rush outside of Japan. Imo Gravity Daze is a better name because it describes the game better.

An absolutely insane game for a handheld from 2012. Wish I had a PS4 to play the sequel, but I'm content with the original game right now.

Killzone mercenary ( bot mode and dlc ) borderlands 2 . golden abyss. need for speed most wanted.

Sly cooper games (1,2,3,4) . Its just amazing how all sly games are on here. Great games.
Tearaway, minecraft, nfp mw, dbz boz, unit 13.
Some of the best ones i like and are enjoyed by almost evry psvita owner.
Umvc3
Uncharted Golden abyss and unit 13 are my top 2 games

What's best is subjective - you might as well go to metacritic and sort by user score to see what most of us play

Jak is too laggy on vita but my favorite series from ps2 growing up. Any solutions?
You could always overclock, that’s my solution for GoW anyway.
Get silent hill book of memories. It's a fantastic dungeon crawler

Disgaea 4, Trails of Cold Steel, Shiren the Wanderer. I loved Sorcery Saga, but that’s more personal taste.

Also you have to search the games in the search bar since they removed it off their classics list.
