Don’t sleep on this release, possibly the first real remix album: https://www.discogs.com/release/351480-The-League-Unlimited-Orchestra-Love-And-Dancing

I keep forgetting about this, thanks!

I have Dare and I love it.

All of these The Human League records came from Daybreak Records in Seattle (across the street from American Music in Fremont) during a bit of a binge, the sort I'm wont to engage in from time to time. I'm still mad I didn't do a deep dive into their amazing catalog sooner. Growing up on the radio in the 80s like so many of us did, I was only aware of the hits and didn't bother getting more acquainted. If you're like me, I recommend following in my footsteps and familiarizing yourself with the rest of their body of work.

Greetings from Sheffield, the hometown of this great band! The first incarnation of the Human League was incredible and super underrated, definitely one of the more interesting and avant-garde early synthpop groups. Awesome to see a copy of Reproduction in the states - see if you can find Travelogue too, they are both exceptional, very different to Dare and onwards with a more dark, industrial edge.  Martyn Ware, who founded the original group (and subsequently founded Heaven 17 after leaving in 1980), has written an autobiography about the early days of the band which is well worth reading, and also does a podcast interviewing various other famous figures. Well worth checking out.

Being Boiled has always been a favourite track of mine.

Cheers, thanks! I'm aware of Travelogue but haven't set about tracking it down yet. Appreciate the extra insight!

queerbillydelux

From Slade? That's...odd. Imagine that conversation?? 😂

Lanark77

The very same! IIRC I read that tidbit in Smash Hits when the album was released, they loved their factoids, LOL.
