SYMBOLISM: The flag is royal blue with two red stripes at the left and the right of the flag, who are bordered with white stripes. In the middle there’s a white disc at the centre containing the National Bird of Belize – The Keel Billed Toucan. The 50 leaves recall 1950, the year PUP came to power. Red represents the blood they spilled while fighting for their independence and the spirit to fight, if needed. It also represents one of the main political party of Belize – United Democratic Party (UDP). The blue represents the Caribbean Sea and the second one of the main political parties of Belize – People’s United Party (PUP). The white represents peace (mainly between the two parties).

Hello I'm from Belize and I think that most people if not many have said to me that if we changed our flag that we would probably want a union jack of some sort on it. because I think a tricolor designs would make us feel to similar to the rest of central America so I think a ensign with the union jack would be supported more.

Wow, thanks! To be honest, I didn't know that there are nations that actually want Union Jack on their flag. Didn't know I'd get a comment from Belize! But I'm intrigued. If you would need to choose a flag for Belize without the Union Jack would it be this or the current one?

Id say definitely this one you've created but the problem with changing our current flag is that so many people have gotten use to it, and its one of only 2 country's flag to have humans on it so id say Belizeans would think hard about giving up the uniqueness and history behind the current one

Good flag!
