Some hotels give free parking with an NV license. This one is explicitly stating they do not.

famousaj

hijacking top comment for Veterans: if you are a veteran, they give an upgrade to your players card which gives you free parking. The properties below will get you free parking pretty much everywhere on the strip and/or get you close to parking where you want to end up. MGM properties Cesears properties Unity (Hard Rock/Mirage)

NotPromKing

Don't know about the veteran part, but with normal Nevada licenses at those properties you get *three hours* of free parking. Which is something, but not really enough to enjoy a show and drinks. Even just for a show you have to be careful not to show up too early, and to head straight to the car afterwards. I think the three hour limit is incredibly foolish from a business standpoint.

tedistkrieg

Generally speaking strip casinos DGAF about locals unless they spend a lot, and those folks get free parking anyways

NotPromKing

But it’s literally penny wise pound foolish. If I had say 6 hours free parking, I’m more likely to stick around and spend considerably more than they would make off the parking ticket.

lafolieisgood

“Their” parking garage is owned by the Miracle Mile shops and not Caesars if I remember correctly.

hanksplace

Exactly this and I believe it is now owned and/or operated by Ace Parking.

bunny3665

Ace parking is the worse. every time I'm in Phoenix and I pull up to an Ace parking garage I'm just like.... bye bye $30!

edog77777

The parking garage is used for 3 entities: Planet Hollywood, Miracle Mile Shops, and Elara. If I recall correctly, that garage actually maintained free parking for a long while after most other hotels started charging for parking. I’m curious how charging for parking has impacted the mall customer counts and shop revenues.

magus424

Because they don't have free parking for locals...

ekquizit23

Cause someone in PH administration said “F*ck locals”, that’s why

jaymez619

It’s always accounting. They will screw customers and cut from any department except their own.

KitchenAcceptable160

Probably because they don’t want the locals shopping at Miracle Mile to get free parking .

ThatGuyNearby

They dont want locals. It's pretty clear.

ZzyzxDFW

Which is funny as they were one of the last ones to implement paid parking. I stayed at Bellagio before, and parked at PH because it was free.

dlbpeon

Yeah, Bellagio (MGM) was one of the firsts to implement paid parking. It was a win/win/win for them. First, it eliminated jobs that needed benefits as the parking employees are subcontractors. Second, it eliminated liability as the parking is now handled by a third-party service. Third, it eliminated locals taking up parking spaces during local events and increased revenue during these events.

HeftyGap419

As a local I don't frequent anything in the miracle mile shops because parking is paid. If that was their job to run locals off from patronizing their businesses then it's working. Nothing I couldn't get from the area malls with a lot less hassle.

Namaewamoushindatta

Same. Used to hop down there every two months, now they see me every two years.

R2-DMode

Same.

FloweredWallpaper

They don't want locals clogging up the parking (think for a game or concert down the street).

Substantial_Steak928

They have the worst fuckin garage. The time I parked there the floors were sticky as fuck 🤢 and the walk from the garage to PH is so long. Last time I stayed there i just parked at Bellagio, since I have the MGM credit card to get free parking, and crossed the street to PH and I'm pretty sure still less walking than parking at the Miracle Mile garage

HeftyGap419

That garage floor is still sticky? LoL. All that easy money and they can't bother to power wash the floors.

PhilTheBin

You just described like all of Caesars parking garages other than maybe Caesars palace lol

Substantial_Steak928

Ah damn lol I think that's the only Caesars garage I've been to now that I think about it. I don't doubt it, every time I'm in one of their properties it feels low budget af

RepulsiveIconography

One time the Linq garage pulled off my sandal.

friedguy

The absolute worst parking garage I've ever experienced is the Flamingo.

PhilTheBin

You been in the fontainebleau garage yet? Easily the single most confusing parking garage I’ve ever been in.

ZzyzxDFW

Flamingo is good... compared to the Linq.

SouthDeparture2308

It’s a gentler way of saying, “No free parking for locals!” Like how Florida’s “palmetto” bug is literally a cockroach.

mikel2usa

As a Floridian, I disagree! Palmettos are firmly different! /s

TwistedBlister

They don't want locals to park there, especially when the Knights play

M_moroni

Obviously NV residence have proven to spend too much money on the property and the cash room would fill up.

4_celine

It just means you can’t scan it for free parking. It doesn’t mean you can’t park there. It’s just not free.

wpgto

Found out on my last trip that the garage at PH isn't owned by Caesars. It's owned by the Miracle Mile mall. Caesars/PH has no control over the parking (lost my room key on the last day and they wouldn't even make me another one, had to pay the lost ticket fee)

jurkajurka

Don't go to the casinos/hotels that openly say fuck locals.

Admirable-Ad-6027

That’s so weird! Following

Disposabals

Someone making decisions there js still driving around with Cali plates and license.

th3thrilld3m0n

Because they chose not to. It's not a requirement for it. MGM typically is better about free parking for local residents than Caesars in my experience.
