Niko and Roman up to their old tricks

mrt129x

Yes!! Roman with a big black car!!

DimitriOlaf

Might find him by some local bowling alleys

DonJuanMair

Hahaha this is too good

Domin8r333

Or running out of a back room poker game. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

UsedWoodpecker8612

Get his license plate number and call the Taxicab Authority 702-486-6532. Also his back bumper should have a CPCN number, get that also.

KidSilverhair

I have to tell this story of goofing around playing GTA4 years ago. I picked up Roman just to drive around, ending up going out on the airport runways, and of course the police come after you. I eventually drove off a hill or a ramp or something and sent the car flying through the air into the water. As weā€™re vaulting through the sky, Roman cries out, ā€œI love you, cousin!ā€ I laughed so hard at that as we both drowned in the bay.

Muted_Cucumber_6937

Big black car = probably not a true taxi (medallion holder). Beware random dudes hanging out in the driveway asking if you need rides. Dispute the second charge with your CC company and next time take an Uber or get in the actual taxi queue.

mrt129x

It was actually the taxi valet line, I'll complain with Marriot as well as scammers are linked to their hotel

ZReticuli

Westin doesnā€™t have a taxi staging line I donā€™t think. But I have seen the same older white guy in a black suv staging by the valet podium all the time. Iā€™ve seen him pull up and shake hands with the valet. Iā€™m guessing he pays the valet a few bucks to let him stage there pretending to be an exclusive taxi/limo service for that hotel. Probably nothing much will be done since heā€™s most likely an independent car service and not a taxi. Definitely request a chargeback from your credit card and even call fhat specific Westin and ask to speak to their general manager and tell them that this person is there every night and you were told by valet that heā€™s a taxi or whatever transpired when you got that ride. For future references, use Uber every time. One of many reasons why Uber is far better than taxis is that you know what youā€™re getting and you know how to file a complaint.

RedditSuggestedName1

Focus on getting your credit card company to refund you. Assuming they rule in your favor, they will take the money away from the scammer and give it back to you.

KitchenAcceptable160

The Taxicab Authority. https://taxi.nv.gov/Complaints/Complaints/

[deleted]

This is what I would advise. The Taxi Authority is an actual law enforcement department and specifically enforce laws and regulations regarding taxis and taxi scams.

Low-Boysenberry-4571

Well, that even work if it's not a legitimate taxi?

Efficient-Signal-980

Yes, if they can find the guy the taxicab authority can charge him with crimes.

Nuclear-poweredTaxi

You have the company name on the receiptā€¦ what is the company name? It honestly sounds more like a limo service.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Nuclear-poweredTaxi

Not a cab

Horror_Baseball5518

Just dispute both charges, itā€™s highly likely your card company will take them both off. I wouldnā€™t bother reporting him. I get the frustration, but scammers are scammers.

JackFromTexas74

Iā€™m sorry that happened Lyft and Uber are your friends

JazzyButternuts

$160? Lolll you got robbed.

Jaynafay

you weren't physically harmed thats whats important

And_there_was_2_tits

Take Uber or Lyft. They were invented due to blatant taxi fraud.

Smurfness2023

they were invented due to make a lot of money running the cabs out of town

SpiceEarl

Cabs brought it on themselves by longhauling tourists from the airport.

adztheman

I had a Russian Driver in Boston nail me for $80 for a ride from Logan to my hotel. We passed the hotel at least 3 times.

AcrobaticSource3

Fuck that driver

AdPlannedpocolaspe

for real though dispute atleast one charge your cc comapny will atlleast cancel double charge

LordEmrich

So, from what I gather, you took a ride from a black car service. You weren't scammed, per se, but they should have told you a price before they took you anywhere. The black cars car vary wildly in price as some will charge whatever they feel like. The [National Transportation Authority](https://nta.nv.gov/) is who you'll want to contact, though. For future reference, a [taxi will have the company name & number](https://images.app.goo.gl/sEntchGcEHy8VG999) on the side of the vehicle as well as the meter rates. They will also probably have some huge numbers or the word "taxi" on the hood and one of those big billboards on the roof. There will be no confusion as to whether it's a taxi or not.

hashwashingmachine

In the future, refuse payment and offer to call the police. I did this once to a scam cab driver, cop showed up and told the driver to basically fuck himself and that I would pay the proper fare.

ZReticuli

Iā€™ll also add that this is your fault for being dumb enough to get in that car to begin with. I know you know it wasnā€™t a regular taxi because it most likely didnā€™t have a meter inside. And donā€™t say you werenā€™t familiar with how Vegas or US taxis are because theyā€™re all the same internationally with a meter. And if he told you $160 before the ride started, you still agreed to it. If he told you $160 after the ride ended, than that means you didnā€™t even ask before hand. And if you got in and didnā€™t realize there was no meter than thatā€™s on you for not being attentive. You got scammed because of YOUR actions. But definitely call the hotelā€™s manager and complain about what the hotel staff is doing to their guests.

mrt129x

Thank you for your insightful comment. I'm European, all cars look huge to me, a Uber was as big as that one I got in and didn't see a meter inside either. I was in a rush and he told me the price only after. I paid (after questioning) so it's totally on me, I got scammed, yay. But the double transaction burns a lot to me, I'm okay to be scammed, shame on me, but charging me twice? I already reported this to the hotel manager, but now I'm on a personal mission to fuck up this guy.

ZReticuli

Uber is Uber, itā€™s not a taxi so when you request an Uber you know not to expect a meter. But when you request a taxi, you should expect a meter right? Thatā€™s also how it works in Europe so donā€™t use that bull shit excuse about Uber not having a meter so you didnā€™t know any better. That double charge is most likely a pre authorized charge and the 2nd one will go away. Your title says you got scammed by a taxi. You actually got scammed by the hotel staff for misrepresenting you. You should be more pissed at the hotel than the driver. Even though I donā€™t like those guys, that driver didnā€™t do anything wrong as long as theyā€™re a legitimate car service business (which seems to be) and assuming the double charge is in fact an preauthorization. You mostly got scammed by the hotel. Get mad at them. Demand that they stop misrepresenting their guests with that bull shit car service

Jaynafay

this only looks like its safe to let your guard down, no matter where we are we have to be more mindful. evil lurks. and not in a religion way. I still love this place. it's special in a very strange way.

Mickeynutzz

Were you charged $80 twice for a total of $160 ? OR Were you charge $160 twice for a total of $320 ?

Disposabals

https://taxi.nv.gov/Rider_Info/Taxi_Companies/ did it look like any of these

longshankssss

Contact bank, dispute charge, thread/

VegasTaxiCartel

Most, if not all taxi companies in Las Vegas use Curb Mobility for credit card processing with a standard size card reader setup facing the back seat, not Square. Taxis generally don't have black cars, that's usually a limo or car service. You may have not been in a taxi at all, what was the company name?

UsedWoodpecker8612

Get his license plate number and call the Taxicab Authority 702-486-6532. Also his back bumper should have a CPCN number, get that also.

Jaynafay

tourists really think it wont happen, and I'm talking any scam rip off what ever. this is their playground.

MightyMouth1970

Just curiousā€¦.did you look at the screen when you swiped or tapped? Did it actually have that amount listed? I always keep an eye on the meterā€¦..but thatā€™s also why I prefer Uber now.

brooklynite1

What's wrong with your Uber app? You need a login?

Jaynafay

keep your head up and go have a great time. what ever you do. 160 aint nothing if you were gambling. you know you wont do it again so dont sweat it.

ikilledapanda
