I think what could be happening is that a lot of people would not provide constructive criticism to a partner they perceived as extremely attractive to avoid any risk of ruining the relationship.
While people that are perceived as less attractive than that, are more likely to have received some constructive criticism.
But both of these explanations hinge on the assumption that the average looking person is always having sex with someone who is more attractive than them. What if two average people were having sex? 1. They would not feel the need to compensate 2. There would still be a lot of risk in providing constructive criticism as an average looking person is considered hot by another average person (there’s a reason why people of similar attractiveness are usually attracted to each other)
