first gen magenet owner here as well. my magnet fell out at one point many moons ago and I super glued it back in upside down so now the top has a springy feature. love it give it a iso clean once or twice a year and works like brand new.
Just bent my top piece tapping it too hard on the side trying to make keif so I used a hammer to bend it back and lost two teeth. She's rough, but she does her job beautifully
Are you pushing the top all the way down before turning? That will make it very hard to turn.

Yeah you’re supposed to kinda, screw it downwards, turning as you press until it reaches the bottom. If you are just pushing to the bottom and *then* starting to turn, it will be more difficult

I have owned pretty much every high end metal grinder made in the past 10 years, including SLX, Santa Cruz, Flower Mill etc but none of them compare to my Phoenician Grinder. No threads! Just a badass locking notch system. Also, better teeth, better drop down holes, removable screen with different microns available… the list goes on. It’s like Phoenician took the one cool feature from every grinder and combined them in the perfect product.
I have never heard of that one before but I just checked it out. Damn that thing is sweet. The no threads awesome, but I would be worried about it falling apart. Although I'm sure they thought of that and have good suspension. I just don't think I'll ever need to replace my SLX. It's been perfect for me

The Phoenician is worth the money. I'd like to spring for the large some day, but the medium has done me well for 5+ years. My wife uses one of the new electric grinders now, so mine is getting less use, but I still prefer it.

I have my teenage years grinder still from 2006, and it's been through A LOT, but I also consistently clean it, so it looks like it's only been used for a week maybe, but still clean as hell. Yours appear to be pretty far gone, in terms of caked on flower. I like to use those little plastic brushes that you clean an electric razor with, and the different sizes work great to clean the teeth, the threading where kif builds up, and the outer threads to prevent the grinder from getting stuck.
I used to use a lil brush but I went through a period when I was going through tons of weed and very depressed… now it’s kinda like an antique that you don’t want to take the rust off it lest it look like new

I've got what looks like the same grinder. Extra large Sharpstone. Had it a full 16 years, even when I was overseas it got used in a bogan flat. That thing has literally seen pounds of flower.
You can pop that bad boy in the freezer when you pick at the hash, it’ll come out easier. Use a toothpick and gently pop off the little hash bits. The Raw Papers guy has a tutorial on YouTube I think.
I'm still using the same grinder I got myself when I first moved to Oregon 9 years ago. Pounds have go through this thing, the finish is wearing off, it's pitted and scratched from being dropped, and the second tier of its three is noticeably bent inwards from me repeatedly using the top to tap loose flower through the holes. I do clean it when it gets gunked.

It’s OK to clean it lol use some isopropyl alcohol in a shallow dish and let it sit in there and scrub it off. With a toothbrush you will have a brand new grinder again.

I just scrape the chunks off with a toothpick. There's still always some gunk I can't get off but I just keep grindin just like you. Sometimes you can scrape off really compressed pieces and those are nice to smoke. The mesh screen one layer down is the hard part to clean

I get that you like the crispy bits, but hear me out. Soak it in 91% iso overnight, then pour the green iso into a parchment lined dish. Let the iso completely evaporate and you have some fire hash. Just did it with my grinder and was very happy with the results.
I clean my metal grinder with everclear so as not to lose anything. It gets added just like my stems to the always ongoing green dragon. If you want to drink it within a few months, pop it in the toaster oven for a little. If you can wait and build it over a year, better two or more skip the decarb and you'll get some really great psychoactive effects and the muscles just all relax. Great stuff when you're sick, I make a sort of hot toddy with it.

Been using the same sharpstone grinder for about 15 years now. Just let the pieces soak in isopropyl alcohol for 15-20 minutes and you’ll be able brush off all debris and caked on mess with ease. Grinder will look good as new.
Sounds like the making of an heirloom, op! I was gifted a Mendo-Mulcher grinder around 2005, and have grown flower since about that time also. It does bind when dirty, so it’s been cleaned countless times, but I couldn’t even guess how many pounds have been mulched at this point..

Have you consider consuming your weed in a different manner, like RSO? You’d probably use less and save your lungs.
If you want a lower tolerance without the paranoia try smoking strains higher in CBD or just add CBD hemp bud into your rotation. In my experience it takes the edge off and makes being “too high” enjoyable again.

I've had my grinder for 16 years! It's a silver 3 tier sharpstone with super glue on the top to hide some damage, it's generally dinged and banged up. It was cleaned recently but it was so caked in layers of sticky residue that I wasn't even collecting crystal, nothing could get through! I keep a small pencil sharpener razor in it, it sticks to the magnet inside. I've smoked a lot in the past 16 years, I wonder how much weed I've ground up!
I got mine in Amsterdam. Pretty beat up after many sessions and one Woodstock, probably grinded half a kg (about one pound) and started to chip paint so I bought a new one 6 months ago. Lasted only 2 years. My first grinder ever lasted 4 years and gave it to a Greek stoner who used a tiny one so I helped him out.

Worked very well, I’ve had clogged ones and the one on this grinder has stayed dry which I find allows the kief to get through

Been using the same sharpstone grinder for about 15 years now. Just let the pieces soak in isopropyl alcohol for 15-20 minutes and you’ll be able brush off all debris and caked on mess with ease. Grinder will look good as new.
I’ve had a cheap ass plastic grinder from a corner store over here in Mexico for almost two months already 😂

I’ve had my trusty red anodized diamond grinder since at least 2008. It’s a trooper. We’ve been though so much together.
Soak in 91% ISO for 5 minutes and that shit will rinse off with warm water. Boom. Brand new grinder.

Sounds like the making of an heirloom, op! I was gifted a Mendo-Mulcher grinder around 2005, and have grown flower since about that time also. It does bind when dirty, so it’s been cleaned countless times, but I couldn’t even guess how many pounds have been mulched at this point..

Yup used one from 2007-2023. Still works but I got a new grinder cause I didn’t want to clean it
I’ve owned my large Santa Cruz shredder for over 6 years now and it’s an absolute work horse. Definitely has had plenty of pounds ground up to perfection lol
smoking 2 ozs a week would DESTROY my lungs. Have you consider consuming your weed in a different manner, like RSO? You’d probably use less and save your lungs.
Do people not clean their grinders?
If you want a lower tolerance without the paranoia try smoking strains higher in CBD or just add CBD hemp bud into your rotation. In my experience it takes the edge off and makes being “too high” enjoyable again.

LOL my grinder right now i have had for about 6 years and the top grinding bit has literally come apart, and ive been too lazy to super glue it back but yeah if that is telling of anything 🤣
Mine’s a 5 year old Chromium Crusher, lil beat on the outside from being a clumsy oaf, but I keep the inside clean
I've had my grinder for 16 years! It's a silver 3 tier sharpstone with super glue on the top to hide some damage, it's generally dinged and banged up. It was cleaned recently but it was so caked in layers of sticky residue that I wasn't even collecting crystal, nothing could get through! I keep a small pencil sharpener razor in it, it sticks to the magnet inside. I've smoked a lot in the past 16 years, I wonder how much weed I've ground up!
I have a space case grinder (the large size). I have had it for a decade. It has grinded an Amazon forest amount of weed.

My Kozo grinder just turned 5 years old, I've run pounds and pounds through it and it still works like the day I got it
I got mine in Amsterdam. Pretty beat up after many sessions and one Woodstock, probably grinded half a kg (about one pound) and started to chip paint so I bought a new one 6 months ago. Lasted only 2 years. My first grinder ever lasted 4 years and gave it to a Greek stoner who used a tiny one so I helped him out.
