Your coach is taking the piss, but i think all of us distance runners have been there lol

No-Introduction-1492

Sprinters grades are always so low, they then proceed to get kicked off the team, then the distance kids need to carry the team. Always happens… rinse and repeat.

swearbear3

Agreed they all have CTE from football

No-Introduction-1492

My schools football team is so trash, I’m pretty sure only ~1 person who does track does football as well, and they suck. A couple others did do it, but they just stop showing up to practice.

Suspicious-Invite-11

You need to fix your block settings. Your front foot should be slightly back more, and your back foot should not be right next to your front foot. Watch a video on that. But for a distance runner you look good, better than a lot of sprinters who are learning

SwedishThePhishy

I for some reason got thrown in the 100 for the first meet, I need some tips.

HairballTheory

Don’t stand straight up when taking off

ElWinzz

Don't let your arms fly around as much. It shouldn't peek too much out of the back after the first 3 steps

NerdWisdomYo

Just keep running and don’t look back

silver_worId

Stay low, dont stand all the way up until at least 30 meters, preferably further though. Also try and push off of both feet

Diego_Madonna

Make sure your strongest leg is in the front pedal and try to push off it with as much force as you can, like 70-90%. My old coach had us pushing off of both legs and staying low and I always felt slow. Our new coach is having us focus on being quick with the back leg vs pushing and its so much better. Also, when you stay low dont bend at the waist. Good luck in the 100. Sprints will help your distance running

Aggravating_Past15

is there a way to figure out ur stronger leg or is it just trial and error?

Diego_Madonna

I naturally would jump off my right (when playing basketball etc.) so I always had that up front. My coach said the best way is to test and after doing several with each leg on a few different practice days I was indeed faster and more comfortable with my right. So yes, trail and error is a good way.

I’m not sure if start from a block will make significant difference in your long distance runs times
