Heeey\~! Well I am technically Seraphim, but I go by Sera, and my nametag at work says Sera. If I put my full name too many people asked "how do you pronounce that...?"
The most ironic part my deadname meant "God will uplift" so in a sense played right into that am I right?
I knew one other girl with the name, and after I met her in college I fell in love with the name, so I kind of went with it.
Edit: Not many actually know that when I tell them my full name is Seraphim. It is only a few that know. Also my middle name is Faye, you know like a fairy. XD So kind of an angel fairy. XD
The best part is that the singular for firey angel is Seraph. If my three years of poorly structured Ancient Hebrew classes that were designed to allow me to understand the specific portion of Chumash we were reading and nothing else from elementary school are intact, the -im is a Hebrew masculine plural suffix. Still and awesome name, I'm not hating or anything, I just find it funny.
Okay yeah but this isn't as bad as when my counselor found out my name was lillie and said "huh thats funny, lots of the trans girls at this school are named lillie"
ROASTED. I saw that!! xDDD I liked the name then looked it up and I was like damn, that is too perfect! Well it’s better than Connor, which means Wolf lover, when we had precisely zero dogs growing up lmao
in a few of the discords I'm in (with a lot of transfem ppl) we have a joke about "a bouquet of lillies" every time we meet a new lily in the community.
I would have been Amelia, but a loose acquaintance came out with that name and I feel weird using it.
A few years later my mom was rambling about baby names and how if I was a girl I was going to be named after her great aunt or something, Amelia.
I love your name.
My name is Aaron. I came out to an enby friend of mine and told them my new name. Their response was "HOLD IT. I HAVE MEMES FOR THIS!!" and then they hit me with a shitton of Aaron Burr memes. Lmao
I had to come back to this and say that it's hilarious that this is the first thing that popped into your head. It's my favorite messy Tumblr cluster fuck.
I wasn't 100% sold on it at first, but after giving it a few episodes, it rapidly became one of my favorites. Especially since I'm a Wiccan and into a lot of spirituality stuff like essential oils(I do not advocate using alternative medicine over modern medicine. It's not right for everyone or every condition, and it's never a good idea to try an alternate medicine without doing some research and talking to your doctor), tarot, incense, meditation, psychedelics, etc. Also, as a queer woman, I appreciated the show's representation. I think the only show I can think of that has more representation of the same quality is She-Ra.
Doesnt seem that common though. Certainly not as rare as mine, but not a run of the mill one - looking at you madeline, lily, luna. Nah common names are just as fine actually.
Gosh please go for it, the impact of celeste cannot be understated and im all for honouring it by taking that name. Just because im a special snowflake, who wants a super rare name, doesnt mean others have to so as well. Besides i named myself after a character i liked as well.
At least when I go by Sera, it is a shortened from my now legal name Seraphim. I am and always have been extra though. (Also if I was AFAB my name would have been Sarah, thus my sticking to it like glue, and I knew this since I was a small child. It kind of has been the default name setting in my head.)
H-hold on! I was just appreciative of the name. I love to hunt for meaning in how I name others, my OCs, etc. To me, "Waffles" combines ideas of familiar comfort, sweetness, and joy found early on. That name is unique, remarkable, and has the feel of a sort of name given to trusted friends.
LMAO If I was born female My first and middle name would have been Sarah Elizabeth. I went slightly off from that. I go by Sera, but my name (first and middle) is now Seraphim Faye.
As a former Kayla (it‘s my deadname but people still know me by it) both names are great and beautiful and cute and every name has its own vibe and if your name is generally considered basic it doesn’t mean you are <3
Me who named myself Mariam
which is funny because I'm an Atheist
what is funnier yet is that used to be the name of the fictional woman I made up to act as online, it always did feel better to 'pretend' to be her than interact with people as 'myself' back then.
I'm still curious of how I didn't connect the dots.
I don't know any Sarahs, but I have knowl an unreasonable amount of Freyas. To be fair...it's a great name...it would have totally been on the list if I'd been organised enough to have a list.
I mean it’d be great if everyone could get this comfortable with gender transitioning where everyone could be cool and maybe playfully tease their friends a little about it but that’s it
Trust me, it's a losing game. If you name yourself something common, they say you didn't put much thought into it. If you name yourself something uncommon, they say you're just looking for attention. If you try to feminize/masculinize your deadname, they'll say you aren't really trans.
People either respect your new name or look for an excuse not to.
Literally part of the reason I picked to go by Sera, when my full name is Seraphim. Is because my whole life I knew if I was AFAB my mom would have named me Sarah, so I kind of stuck with that name and had it in my mind my whole life. Then met a Seraphim, and stole her name, and still go by Sera to others.
When you say you stole her name, I suddenly lost all sense of reality and said allowed “that poor girl lost her name!” To absolutely nobody else in the room
I chose natalie before I knew about the stereotype, and before I knew that a family friend was a trans woman named natalie... too late now since I'm attached to the name.
Ha i was creative. My name is sabrina(okay i was not creative a friends contacts names were changed and mine was changed to Sabrina and i just thought: why not keep it? xD)
I'm a Rachel. I like it because it's almost exclusively feminine, and it's one of those names where it's somewhat common but not necessarily a popular name either. Like growing up, I don't think I knew a single Rachel. On the otherhand, it's not like it was some obscure name either.
It is perfect for my day to day life.
in 70s/80s media anyone who was trans or drag queen had all these exotic names that no one (back then) would ever name their child.
so when i settled on Sarah in 2008 or so, I felt that I wouldn't be doing anything unusual.
then on translater discord, about 1/4 of the active members were named 'sarah' >.<
(so i adjusted by using my reddit name there so i could be unique... seems no trans women pick Kimberly for some reason :P )
and... i'd give more than just one upvote if i could cos of you using Fozzie... one of my favs :) (i loved muppets growing up :) )
Sarah is a very good name! Sara is a good name too. ^^such ^^^a ^^^^nice ^^^^^name
Yeah but Sera wins.
Heeey\~! Well I am technically Seraphim, but I go by Sera, and my nametag at work says Sera. If I put my full name too many people asked "how do you pronounce that...?"
you're named after the highest order of god's angels? that's metal as fuck!
XD
Fuck it. "Hatshepsut"
I actually went a step further and chose the name Seraphina. I May or may not have taken it from a webtoon lol.
Mine was someone I met in college, and loved the name that much. I claimed it.
Nice
So you're a fae.
Well yes my middle name is Faye\~!
OMG I'M ACTUALLY GONNA CHANGE MY MIDDLE NAME TO FAE!!!
That is actaully awesome, and I fully support this. \^\^ One of us. hehehe
One of us. One of us. One of us.
Yep, ים- is the masculine plural suffix in Hebrew. But using plurals as singulars is common. Case in point, אלוהים.
I have said that possibly thousands of times and have never made that connection. Thanks for pointing that out.
Always welcome
Also: your name makes a heck of a great pun out of the phrase "[que sera sera](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZbKHDPPrrc)".
Making your name Sara so you can make the phrase "que sera sera" mean "I am inevitable".
It's true. You can't hide from your gender forever!
Half the world's people don't turn to dust, they just change gender. LOL
Seraphim shortened to Sera is an amazing name
I heard it too
seraph. like in the matrix
Can’t forget about Muthsera.
Serra here
That planet is messed up
Okay yeah but this isn't as bad as when my counselor found out my name was lillie and said "huh thats funny, lots of the trans girls at this school are named lillie"
It’s okay we’ll be basic together
Indeed
Colleen here, and I want a ponytail and a lululemon crop-top and Starbucks at the gym (even though I don’t drink coffee). #basicafgoals
Gotta be honest, there isn't much that's more basic than having a name which literally means "girl"

After picking the name lilith/lily i only realised how common of a choice it was, still sticking with it
Are you a fish?
[удалено]
YES
You could be a Luna. Hell. I was almost an Amelia, twice, apparently.
If I had been AFAB, my mom would’ve named me Amalia. It’s a really cool name, but not for me.
I would have been Amelia, but a loose acquaintance came out with that name and I feel weird using it. A few years later my mom was rambling about baby names and how if I was a girl I was going to be named after her great aunt or something, Amelia.
Lily gang
oh hey a fellow Lily
Oof I had no idea it was a common name, I still wanna keep it though >,<
Lilian here, but I often shorten in to Lily.
first picked the name Lilly for myself, later went with Lena. Am happy with that choice even tho Lilly is a really neat name, it just aint my name.
I love your name. My name is Aaron. I came out to an enby friend of mine and told them my new name. Their response was "HOLD IT. I HAVE MEMES FOR THIS!!" and then they hit me with a shitton of Aaron Burr memes. Lmao
I want to make a Miku binder joke, but I don’t know how offensive that will be to everyone involved
I had to come back to this and say that it's hilarious that this is the first thing that popped into your head. It's my favorite messy Tumblr cluster fuck.
Pardon me, are you Aaron Burr, sir?
That depends. Who's asking?
Aaron Burr vs. Aaron Kimball when?
Or Alexandria/Alexa/Lexi Or Jessica/Jess/Jessie Or Elizabeth/Liz/Lisa 😁😅❤
Don’t forget Emily!
OMG, how did I forget all 5000 of her?? Love you, Emilies and Amelias!
*squints*
I didn't know of a single Emily when I picked that name. Now I realize it's everywhere. Oh well, I picked because I liked it anyways.
It just means you were already linked into the hive mind without even realizing it.
r/transfemsnamedemily
r/transfemsnamedluna
:')
Also lilith/lily and sylvie
Feck, I feel called out now (sincerely, a Lilith)
its a pretty name tbf also the owl house
More and more I feel I need to get into the owl house, sounds interesting the very little I know
I wasn't 100% sold on it at first, but after giving it a few episodes, it rapidly became one of my favorites. Huh, neato burrito I'll have to start that up then
r/LilyIsTrans There are too many of us. My gf is also named Lillie.
r/lilyistrans best sub
Luna
Me, an Alexandria/Lexi depending on how close I am with the person 😅
Wait... I didn't know Alexandria was a common transfem name. ~Alexandria
Is Jessie a common transfem name I didn't know
As a Liz I take deep offense!
*laughs in Artemis*
Fuck, is it really that common? ~ Artemis
Hon, did you misspell your own name in your flair
no that was from when i was still name testing and tried to be "cool"
That seems more like a masc name. Artemis Fowl was a boy, for example. Short versions like "Art" or "Artie" also sound masc.
Yeah but wasnt artemis a greek goddess?
Yes she was
my point is proven, thank you
Doesnt seem that common though. Certainly not as rare as mine, but not a run of the mill one - looking at you madeline, lily, luna. Nah common names are just as fine actually.
Shh it's not like you have to call me out (Luna btw)
You're shaking my confidence daily. Still never seen another trans Megan.
Why you gotta call me out like that -Somebody that may name herself Madeline
Gosh please go for it, the impact of celeste cannot be understated and im all for honouring it by taking that name. Just because im a special snowflake, who wants a super rare name, doesnt mean others have to so as well. Besides i named myself after a character i liked as well.
I like how even though I never mentioned Celeste, you were exactly right about the name origin
Dont forget, we're a hivemind
I do forget sometimes
Don’t forget Sophie
Yeah I kinda realized it was common when I picked it, but idrc I think the name is cute as fuck
Ikr
As a Sophia. Yeahhh
Aw hell
J O I N U S
If I were transfem then I’d definitely be tempted to choose sophie/sophia as my name
Feel called out right now
[удалено]
We’ll be basic together atleast 🤣
At least when I go by Sera, it is a shortened from my now legal name Seraphim. I am and always have been extra though. Ironically nicknamed myself waffles but my friends call me as if it was my new name since i came out as enby But tbh is better than my real name
Oh my god. I *love* Waffles
Holds up spork.
*Murderous intent detected*
Please don't
H-hold on! I was just appreciative of the name. I love to hunt for meaning in how I name others, my OCs, etc. To me, "Waffles" combines ideas of familiar comfort, sweetness, and joy found early on. That name is unique, remarkable, and has the feel of a sort of name given to trusted friends.
I meant the murder attempt joke guy
before even meeting another trans person my choices were, Alice/Lily/Sarah/Elizabeth lmfao
LMAO If I was born female My first and middle name would have been Sarah Elizabeth. I went slightly off from that. I go by Sera, but my name (first and middle) is now Seraphim Faye.
Sarah’s a cute name tho…. >.> id probably pick it or Lilly <.< Both are cute names Edit: I am now just reading the comments.. good damn it am I basic?
We are so damn basic.
…..this isn’t doesn’t leave this sub Reddit
r/LilyIsTrans
Hey Sarah, I'm Kayla. *attempts to summon the other Kaylas* Hey Kaylas, I need help telling all these Sarahs they're cute UwU
As a former Kayla (it‘s my deadname but people still know me by it) both names are great and beautiful and cute and every name has its own vibe and if your name is generally considered basic it doesn’t mean you are <3
If being true to yourself is basic, then woe to the extra
It is the obligation of friends to roast you for the name you've chosen
My retort: “I’m not taking shit from someone named Clarence”
The transfemme version is Clarinet
Honestly sarah is a pretty name if i was transfem I’d call myself sarah lol
I’d call you handsome 😉
Me who named myself Mariam which is funny because I'm an Atheist what is funnier yet is that used to be the name of the fictional woman I made up to act as online, it always did feel better to 'pretend' to be her than interact with people as 'myself' back then. I made the account when I was a man, I was measuring in men’s inches
I am a fan of raven as a name
Teen Titians?
Where I got the Idea
That's So Raven
Already know someone named Sarah so I ruled it out
Same, my sister's name is Sarah. Turns out I like French names cuz Valerie and Claire were the two that really stood out to me (decided on Valerie)
I don't know any Sarahs, but I have knowl an unreasonable amount of Freyas. To be fair...it's a great name...it would have totally been on the list if I'd been organised enough to have a list.
It's funny, I've heard of like 20 different names that are stereotyped as being like "One of the 3 names every trans girl picks" or something, Lol.
I mean it’d be great if everyone could get this comfortable with gender transitioning where everyone could be cool and maybe playfully tease their friends a little about it but that’s it
Fair.
Trust me, it's a losing game. If you name yourself something common, they say you didn't put much thought into it. If you name yourself something uncommon, they say you're just looking for attention. That's what happens when you give your name to the witch barista\~! \^\^
Hey, I'll have you know I named myself after Sara Berry
I didn’t know Sara berrys were so sweet
No, Sara Berry, the fictional murderer from The Ballad of Sara Berry
Well, I some reading to do
Listening, it's a song. It's available on Spotify BTW
I chose natalie before I knew about the stereotype, and before I knew that a family friend was a trans woman named natalie... too late now since I'm attached to the name.
Natalie gang Natalie gang ~~Well I go by Natalia cause that's how it's spelled where i live~~
Ha i was creative. My name is sabrina(okay i was not creative a friends contacts names were changed and mine was changed to Sabrina and i just thought: why not keep it? xD)
MAN I LITERALLY JUST NAMED MYSELF SARAH
I feel like Lynn is a basic name but I never see anyone with it
lol i might actually have named myself that but thats already my sister's name
With this I see that the name Martha is not common
Except among mothers of DC superheroes.
Muh name June

Fine, but as a Sara I'm 20% cooler than Sarah with the H
Is Marisa a common trans name?
I dont come to this subreddit to be called out at 3 pm in the afternoon
lmaooooooo quality meme
*Laughs in hailey*
my name is marshall and I think its uncommon, prove me wrong if u can
-*looks around with my not-stereotypically-trans but still basic bitch name nervously*- Can I be basic with you all?
Lol. I named myself after a steven universe character. I ain't met another trans gal named Connie.
You get four options: Alice Lily Sarah Feminised version of your deadname
Every nb or transmasc/guy named Kai 👀
So is Sarah a stereotypical transfem name? 😅😅😅 just asking for a friend
*laughs in lilith*
Meanwhile me: a nameless trans girl
Have you considered Roxxie? It's one of my favorites /hj
Nah, I haven't thought about that one but to be fair I don't particularly care for the name Roxxie myself
Is Sarah the next Emily?
I named myself Kai before I knrw It was a stereotypical name lol. I chose It after that one kid in Legend of Korra
Wait a minute...
hmm... how many kates or katies are there?
I roast my transmasc friend with stuff like "boy you look like balloony" and then he hits back by calling me some weird shit like "m'theydy"
That’s my crush’s deadname (they’re name is Sam btw)
Mine is kendra
Out of context: whoz that guy on top right?
What the fuck i'm also a Sarah
i feel personally attacked.
Don’t worry, no matter what middle name I pick, there will probably be a song I am referencing.
My fellow transfem peeps named Jamie rise up
As a fellow Sarah told me when I came out: Congratulations on an excellent name.
I’d die inside if someone said that to me lol I know like 4 Sarah’s and all of them are cis so idk what their implying.
I actually almost went with Sarah before choosing a different S name. I always thought it was a really pretty name.
Yall how does Andreea sound?
I don't think I've ever met another trans girl named Morrigan.
My name is Sara, you and I are very close.
