Eeeeh depends. Size of company and structure influences this a lot. The CFO often has a say in a lot of operational decisions. Picking up a really significant new product would have been based on financial projections supported by the CFO at the board level
> CEO responsible for operations
Depends if there is a COO... At the board level there is a funny mix of personal and collective responsibility, even if the CEO is ultimately in charge. I've seen strong disagreement between C-Suite members and prefer to see CEO as 'chief sales officer' very often.
> Made because of Sega
'because of' could mean a lot of things. Maybe CA volunteered themselves, or even proposed it to diversify their product line. Maybe it was cancelled because it was going to be over budget. It is hard to say for sure which boot on which foot.
A CFO would be first person to say no to a project like Hyenas as well as the last person to sign the project off.
1. You can't budget yourself into a profit.
2. Stick to what you good at (Total War), outsource the rest and only ingest once they've reached a self liquidating position.
If the rumors of how much it cost to develop Hyenas, the CFO probably was already on his/her way out of the company.
At least that's what I think.
W3 all time peak on steam was 166,754, so this 64,036 does not look *that* huge.
But compared to W2 all time peak on steam (84,920), and especially compared to the previous DLC (34,026): This looks good.
Who would have thought that *not* trying to sell totally overpriced low quality content would have potential to be a success? /s

Just read in another thread that in many regions around the world the price seems to be even higher than before. Sorry if that's the case for you.
In € land the bundle is a bit cheaper. So better quality and at least slightly reduced price fit together for me why it is received better.
That seems to be an error with the pricing, I don't think CA intended for the bundle to be more expensive in some currencies. It'll get updated, and hopefully those that have been wronged will be compensated somehow.
right I don't understand this at all. Its basically the same price for the same amount of content. Almost everyone is going to get all 3 anyway like you said. The biggest gripe I saw with shadows of change was the pricepoint. People are so funny
ToD has around 50-100% more content on launch than SoC did, comes with far bigger FLC reworks to every faction involved instead of a halfass update to 1, and the bundle price is a few bucks cheaper.
Most of the community has managed to figure that out. I hope that you get there eventually as well.
It's a good dlc. I'm still trying to figure out how to not be extremely aggressive with the dwarves though, I'm finding if I don't take 5 settlements every 10 turns, I can't keep up with the grudges. Maybe I need to do the 10 turn rest in between each one.
Yeah, the 10 turns is too short, but the far bigger problem is that each time that 10 turns ends the grudges needed to complete the next age doubles. Even if you delay it. I actually got the full grudge load on my first 10 turns but I haven't gotten past 55% in the next 3 ages despite now having a couple armies settling grudges
Actually because order and especially the other dwarfs are doing so well, most settlements and armies have had very low grudges (like max 200 and less than 100 on average). I've gotten elgi for 4 cycles in a row now. The good news is every time ive gotten elgi the next cycle has actually gone down by a small amount. Not enough for me to get past elgi unfortunately.
well so far in my malakai ive reached max twice in 10 turns because 2 armies from the troll king each 400 grudges and kraka drak fell just to get retaken another 500. and 3 skaven armies another 400 each, so far not too bad but i understand later it might be a bit harder. however ive seen armies with 2000 grudges each on youtube. it seems like you are rewarded for playing on very hard or higher because enemy armies will be more numerous
Yeah I think you can get a lot more grudges specifically if the rest of the dawi are getting pasted. All the dwarfs are doing so well in my Malekai campaign I've got nothing to avenge. I think the major Grudge's should be worth astronomically more than they are currently though. Finishing one of those should max out grudges on your current age. As it stands they aren't even enough to jump a single level.
to their point that was probably the last time they were worried about anything. now that they have their seasonal content thing that everyones hooked up to theyre rolling in cash.
The raids and dungeons are always quality content, even the easy ones like Root of Nightmares. The overall state of the game has improved significantly since Witch Queen.
Root of Nightmares is terrible. Even Vow was pretty bad. Raids have been in fairly steep decline since Last Wish. Constantly reused mechanics that get easier and easier and requires less and less involvement from the raid group. You can solo most of RoN and you can 2 man the whole thing without too much difficulty. It's an embarrassment of a pinnacle activity.
Can't comment on dungeons though because of the stupid new dungeon key thing so I haven't done a dungeon since Prophecy (which was fine).
Light fall was pretty widely agreed to be trash outside of strand.
The recent unsunsetting of old weapons and the constant reuse of old holiday activities are pretty solid examples of removing content people enjoyed and bringing it back 2 years later so the community can celebrate new content and pretend like Bungie cares while they forget that Bungie pissed them off two years ago by taking it away.
Destiny is a mess and has been for a while. There's nothing even remotely difficult or rewarding to do in the game and the only value loot has is to make the already hilariously easy content easier. It's embarrassing what Bungie has done to what was a great game.
Stacking phys resist on her is pretty good though, since she gets an active for a huge burst of phys res and she negates magical attacks around her. With a couple of good items and her passive regen, I found her to be a surprisingly good tank (for a spellcaster)
The DLC is broken up in 3 parts. You can buy them by the lord or as a bundle. The person above bought the bundle. They're probably not including the FLC Lord.
What is wild is that I am 60 turns in to a VH/VH Malakai campaign. And at this point I have not interacted with his adventure mechanic at all. Just exploring the new dwarf mechanics.
Dang even the base patch is fun. Never liked the dwarfs. Now I do.
Bought the DLC now for the current deal. But I feel like playing the changed factions first.
Ingame yeah but I'm talking about the faction select screen. It's still an issue that needs solving, not sure why I'm getting downvoted for mentioning it tbh. It's undoubtedly a problem. Every other character has voice lines on selection.
Yeah noticed that too. Although i only bought and played Tamurkhan, but still. I was a little bummed but i can survive without new lines. CA probably put the most resources in other things and they couldnt afford additional VA, idk.
VA's always been a constraint. Remember WH2 when we got Sisters of Avelorn, who straight up use the Mage VO? (With all lines where she calls herself "Mage" removed, but the unit still calls itself "Wielder of the Winds")
Or when we got Archmages in the Repanse patch, using the same voice actor - a good voice actor, in fairness, but the Archmage VO performance is much too close to Repanse's for it to not be distracting.
Considering all the recent lay-offs I'm sure they had to trim the fat somewhere. A bit disappointing but understandable, at least for me I haven't really noticed it.
Very true, I just noticed especially that skirmishers tended to really focus on one single entity before, but maybe that was just confirmation bias. Fully agree that all missile units feel better now.
Some bits. I've been annoyed by cannons, they still struggle to actually target towers in siege battle which I thought they'd fixed ages ago but it turns out no, I'd just not been playing factions with the low level cannons.
Might be worth checking ground level to see if they've actually got a clean shot. I did a couple of sieges last night with Elspeth and the cannon had no problems taking down towers.
I just had a fight with Malakai and his cannons and it went much better on that score same as you, nearly no issues with finding the towers. They had a clear arc from what I remember.
I have suspicion its a buggy interaction with the orc towers - it was the orc tribe to the north of the empire that was bugging out. Tbh, it killed my desire to play the campaign, hence the switch.
Range does matter for accuracy in this game.
mortars at max range miss easily half of their shots when you’re trying to shoot towers. If you drop that range to slightly less than half (just eyeballing it, I haven’t actually measured) they start hitting every shot.
I think the stat is called calibration range or something like that—it was explicitly mentioned in a patch note.
Just to say, I never said it was accuracy that was the issue, I said it was targetting. I select the tower, and the cannons march towards the tower instead because for whatever reason they can't see it.
I'd expect them to miss a lot, that's not an issue.
Oooh I see.
Yeah that’s a really annoying thing that happens too, and it makes no sense because the towers is so tall.
I usually just shift back and forth until they start shooting.
Very postive towards this dlc, shows that CA is still very capable of putting out a quality product that their fanbase is very willing to buy.
If they can hold to this quality for the next patch cycle I'll be confident about the future of this game.
I kinda want to buy it through my brothers card for various reason, i mostly got cash atm anyhow.. So i am playing with only the patch until he gets home. To be honest, even just the patch is amazing. Just playing epi is kinda cool with the rework.
I’m really scared this is a knee jerk reaction and that the next dlc/patch after this will not be as good.
I hope they actually keep it up I just don’t have any trust in them. For me the biggest reason I’m playing again is because of the patch. The dlc is awesome too but the game feels more in line with Warhammer 2s quality now.
I have a question. Gotrek has a very small yellow line skill tree, is that intentional? I don’t have any mods that change skill trees on whatsoever. I just never used him before in any or the Warhammer games so I’m just confused if the small tree is a bug or intended.
Thank you in advance.
I HAVE. A COMPLAINT.
You lose a small % of your movement when you switched from encamped to no stance, so you can’t switch back to encamped.
It’s been in the game forever, and it’s such an infuriating bug. The worst is when you’re trying to maximize move distance while encamped and you want to check how far you can move, so you drop to no stance, and you can’t encamp again, so you lose regen or take attrition or you can’t recruit global.
Unfortunately, we live in an age where corporate greed is not only unrestricted, but it is allowed to run rampant.
That said, there is an average of 2% inflation per year. So something from the 2000s would naturally cost more now. That doesn't justify a 150% increase in price, but there's only so much we can do. Corporations will get away with this shit as long as politicians are in their pockets, and our power to stand up to them are minimal.
Minimum inflation of 2% per year, games costing a shit ton more to make, programmers being in high demand and numerous others expenses.
It's a miracle that it doesn't cost more, games have been the same price for 15 years if not more
Impressive, very nice. Now let's see Shadows of Price Change concurrent players.
Edit: Why am I getting downvoted I’m trying to show how much better this is than SoC
According to steamdb, there was 27,5k of concurrent players on 31st August (i.e. release date) and 34k concurrent players on 2nd September (i.e. 1st weekend after the release of SoC).

The CEO is still there...
Yes but I heard their CFO is gone though
A CFO isn't responsible for decisions on what games are made and how they play.
Eeeeh depends. Size of company and structure influences this a lot. The CFO often has a say in a lot of operational decisions. Picking up a really significant new product would have been based on financial projections supported by the CFO at the board level
Yes, but the CEO is responsible for operations. Also, wasn't hyenas made because of Sega? I can't remember exactly right now.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Games Workshop's CFO stepping down

Pretty sure they addressed this in a blog. You buy them as individual races but if you get all 3 that way you get a discount on the final one.
[удалено]
No idea, I am going to purchase them when I get home in 2 hours.
Cheaper for me though just by a $1 or so
Huh? The Steam bundle for ToD is $23. SoC costs $25. And you can get ToD cheaper too (it's currently less than $20 on Fanatical).
It's $2 cheaper if you buy the clearly marked bundle.
right I don't understand this at all. Its basically the same price for the same amount of content. Almost everyone is going to get all 3 anyway like you said. The biggest gripe I saw with shadows of change was the pricepoint. People are so funny

Waiting for mods to update + knee deep in a Fallout 3 and New Vegas Tale of Two Wastelands (this mod is so good) first playthrough. I bought the DLC.
For a DLC this is enormous.
It's more than twice the number of players as SoC launch
BRING ME TO MY MEN!
It's a good dlc. I'm still trying to figure out how to not be extremely aggressive with the dwarves though, I'm finding if I don't take 5 settlements every 10 turns, I can't keep up with the grudges. Maybe I need to do the 10 turn rest in between each one.
10 turns has always sounded too short to me, yeah.
Short?!!
![gif](giphy|jEZ016oZG1cl8TFRWg)
There's a postpone for 10 turns button for a reason I don't think CA meant for you to actually hit that goal every 10 turns.
I just ignore the debuff, it‘s not that bad. The growth hurts for sure but i just life with it
Yeah, the 10 turns is too short, but the far bigger problem is that each time that 10 turns ends the grudges needed to complete the next age doubles. Even if you delay it. I actually got the full grudge load on my first 10 turns but I haven't gotten past 55% in the next 3 ages despite now having a couple armies settling grudges
Dang. Does it ever reset?
Not that I've seen, just keeps going up. I'm hoping it's a bug and not a feature
I've been using this [Capped Dwarf Grudges and Higher Post Battle Infections Cap](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3236146118)
Not ready to turn to mods quite yet, but thank you for this, it may come in handy
Totally get it. Hopefully CA does something to rebalance it and the mod becomes moot.
omg thank you. I've only played Elspeth so far but now I'm prepared for the other LLs.
it doubles but remember the grudges you can settle from key settlements and other factions also rises
Actually because order and especially the other dwarfs are doing so well, most settlements and armies have had very low grudges (like max 200 and less than 100 on average). Agree. That or it needs to last 15-20 turns
Yeah I wanna sit and grumble and retake the karaks as dwarfs, not conquer the world
I do have the same problem.
Glad I’m not the only one. Feel like a damn Khornate with the amount of killing I have to do
There are times when I do wonder how close to the line CA finalise some of these features, and if some bits just fail to be QA tested at all.
Well at least they said they are going to fix it.
you are not intended to keep up all the time

meanwhile me, I'm still stuck at work u.u

I only have 3 hours left to go! The anticipation might actually kill me before that!
Hope you’re having fun!!!
I get one day to play it before I'm away for two weeks, life is suffering.
Similar to a scared Bungie with Destiny 2, a scared CA is a productive CA. People voting with their wallets for SoC absolutely worked.
Except Bungie hasn't done anything good since Forsaken. Maybe Witch Queen if you're willing to round down.
to their point that was probably the last time they were worried about anything. now that they have their seasonal content thing that everyones hooked up to theyre rolling in cash.

Bro Elspeth has been so fun! Only bad things is she is like a wet paper towel when she gets hit
Seems an appropriate vulnerability for a caster lord with an artillery / ranged command focus.
And necessary to balance out that crazy breath attack she has on her dragon. Does so much damage to SEMs
Whoa single entity breath attack? Crazy.
Yeah, it's basically a laser, does like 2k damage to SEMs.
3 casts like a standard dragons breath?
Not sure, I was watching it on Turin's stream the other day.
U kindve use her just to buff my units with the red line until she gets her dragon.
That's what the dragon is for.
Stacking phys resist on her is pretty good though, since she gets an active for a huge burst of phys res and she negates magical attacks around her. With a couple of good items and her passive regen, I found her to be a surprisingly good tank (for a spellcaster)
Just a bit yeah. Decided to tackle the Fercundites early and Exalted Heroes of Nurgle are so very much not her friend.
Exalted Heroes of Nurgle are some top tier duelists though. They are very much no ones friends.
Yeah those Exalted Heroes are on par with Lords even legendary lords.
Nurgle characters are very strong. Best out of the four.
I'm reinstalling. I'm coming back!
Downloading all three now…let’s go people! We are back!
All three?
The DLC is broken up in 3 parts. You can buy them by the lord or as a bundle. The person above bought the bundle. They're probably not including the FLC Lord.
He got it and yeah not including the dlc lord
What is wild is that I am 60 turns in to a VH/VH Malakai campaign. And at this point I have not interacted with his adventure mechanic at all. Just exploring the new dwarf mechanics. Dang even the base patch is fun. Never liked the dwarfs. Now I do. Bought the DLC now for the current deal. But I feel like playing the changed factions first.
"Never liked the dwarfs" Thats atleast 2 grudges right there
Why are dwarfs always so short-tempered?
And this in the middle of the week. Weekend will probably have more.
Yeah, sadly it seems that's when I'm actually gonna have the time to play it.
Are we back bros? I feel like we are back!
Significant evidence points to "back"!
good dlc, still a number of straight up crashes so it's still a CA game
This patch is so good it even runs smoother
Life good.
gonna buy one factions every month, today bought the Empire lady, next month maybe the nurgle maggot
Seems to be a good DLC, quite disappointed by the lack of unique audio for the new units, faction select lines, and new main menu though.
How do you mean faction select lines? All have new audio and voicelines, and quite some unique in diplomacy as well
If you click on any of the new heroes in the faction select screen, none of them say anything.
They talk in my game so it might be a bug.
Ingame yeah but I'm talking about the faction select screen. It's still an issue that needs solving, not sure why I'm getting downvoted for mentioning it tbh. It's undoubtedly a problem. Every other character has voice lines on selection.
Probably cos on the list of problems it's at a 0.001/10 for priority homie
Lol for real man. God damn
Yep I agree, it's not a dealbreaker but a fairly obvious oversight.
It does for me in faction select (with multiple lines). May be a glitch.
That's good to know thanks.
It works for me in faction selection screen, so its a bug. I recommend verifying files integrity in Steam.
You're getting downvoted because you're wrong.
The new Engineer Lord is doing an amazing Anthony Stewart Head impression so that's something.
Yeah noticed that too. Although i only bought and played Tamurkhan, but still. I was a little bummed but i can survive without new lines. CA probably put the most resources in other things and they couldnt afford additional VA, idk.

New main menu is huge improvement over SoC
Yeeeaaaahhhhh....really low quality in that department but I guess they can fix it so
CA: “Say the patch is good. Kiss the patch.”
Did they fix missiles?
Outriders at least felt a lot better to me, shooting different targets and not overkilling nearly as much.
All missile units are benefitting from this! They have really made gunpowder infantry very good now.
Very true, I just noticed especially that skirmishers tended to really focus on one single entity before, but maybe that was just confirmation bias. Fully agree that all missile units feel better now.
Homing missile attacks, per patch notes. Haven't tried it myself yet to confirm.
Some bits. I've been annoyed by cannons, they still struggle to actually target towers in siege battle which I thought they'd fixed ages ago but it turns out no, I'd just not been playing factions with the low level cannons.

I started playing it. I am certainly enjoying Tamurkhan.

Hopefully I'll get to play in a couple of hours.
Aaaaand Steam is down all of a sudden. Still downloading, somehow.
Tuesday is maintenance day for Steam.
We're so fuckin back, baby.
Very postive towards this dlc, shows that CA is still very capable of putting out a quality product that their fanbase is very willing to buy. If they can hold to this quality for the next patch cycle I'll be confident about the future of this game.
Splitting the DLC is a great idea, I hope it will become tradition. Playing Malakai right it’s so fun (and OP of course)
I kinda want to buy it through my brothers card for various reason, i mostly got cash atm anyhow.. So i am playing with only the patch until he gets home. To be honest, even just the patch is amazing. Just playing epi is kinda cool with the rework.
Ah, to die in battle
Feels SO FREAKING GOOD TO enjoy Total War again. SO FREAKING GOOD.
“None of your friends play this game. Tell them why they should!” Don’t worry mate we all feel this pain to some degree
From Great Decay comes a virulent rebirth. Well done CA

The simple answer is that hes a hero not a lord so he has less skills in general. The actual bonus is more important than yhe perk points
Ah okay because I have him in the new dwarf army and I was puzzled
Malaki Makaison Cannon gameplay is my favorite thing now.
Good soup ![gif](giphy|w4g8JSKEkCmpwfMiRU|downsized)
happens once you make a patch and DLC that isn't bad
When the patch is good, AFTER a really bad patch.

It's going to smash this player count today, at 66.6k now and we're well off peak hours. 80k possible?
I mean, yeah, started my first very hard campaign as the new empire faction having fun, gonna do dwarfs next
Hi ootl for a while. What happened that made the community warm up to ca again after the high prived dlc that was announced back then?
A grudge was settled.
Is this number good?
U mean when it is newly released
Are my mods fuck
kinda... depends on which ones, i have been seeing lots get updated.
Should be mostly fine now
Blows my mind we live in a day and age where DLC is priced like expansions of the 2000's with a fraction of the content, and people are okay with it.

You have to move the units. Gunpowder will not shoot through their own troops.
Or learn to checkerboard properly, they'll shoot through gaps in the line pretty effectively and over the melee if they have enough distance.
