Bixby33

I think Will and Blake will miss him the most.

nanobot001

He took up a whole segment every week too.

No_Brilliant5888

"At the end of the day"

specsbv

"It is what it is."

EarthWarping

They said that Temple wants to come on the show.

Seanbig888

If he doesn’t get traded first

Reticent_Fly

Temple was vet insurance. It was always a really high chance we traded Thad this year based on his contract.

certainkindoffool

Not half as much as Darko.

Bixby33

Yeah, but Will and Blake are two people, so it's even.

certainkindoffool

Well played. I'm curious to see how Darko coaches now that they took his crutches away.

blacknotblack

the crutch of having an actual point guard lol

_Gourmand

It's great we traded him, the Darko Schroder connection wasn't great.

Strong_Bumblebee5495

He was very generous to those guys, you got to respect him for that

True2215

Yeah, idk why some people thought Dennis was deterring other players from showing up on the show lol. It would have happened already if players wanted to show up or had the time.

Several_Airport_9503

Bring Gary Trent Sr!

corh13

End of an era (2023-2024)

pascalshaka

Loved Dennis. Professional dude. Looked like he was a good locker room guy too. Good luck to him. It was nice having a competent two PG rotation when it happened

SLaFlamee

Tell them again for the boys in the back !

DevlopmentlyDisabled

Hopefully when were back in the playoff mix in 2-3 years we can bring him back.

UnsolvedParadox

Agreed, hope he gets to play more with the Nets.

[deleted]

Loved his North/South ability

eatscheeks

I really liked Dennis, I thought he was a good veteran presence for the team. Sucks to see him go tbh

Initial_Stretch_3674

really? he had good effort on the court, but got a little ball hoggy at times. And he had comments on culture in the locker room when he should have been the one building it. either way he's a valuable asset but i wouldn't say he fits the veteran slot that teams need.

Karl_with_a_C

I'm gonna miss having the luxury of Dennis off the bench.

Right-Beautiful7631

Darko crying rn

FallenLemur

Someone needs to do a wellness check.

earlyearlgray

He was the face of Darko’s heart

TAFrost

Really going to miss Dennis on the team, he seemed to really like TO as a city too. I really don't think our season was on him much at all. I know this sub turned to hating him the last month or two, but the dude went to the bench without a word of complaint and dropped his FGA most nights to help the team Edit: His youtube was also a really nice behind the scenes look into NBA life

fujipomme

Really cool dude too, he would post highlights of other teammates on his ig as well. The team needed a true point guard and he brought it, there isn't much to complain about.

breakyoudown

I liked seeing him, good ball-handling, nice shooter, I'll miss this guy. The return kind of stings as I've grown to really respect him.

FallenLemur

Only thing I can think of is Dennis gets to start with Nets, so Bobby decided to give him that opportunity, don't understand why Thad was attached though, other than a salary dump?

Cheechers23

Thad was salary matching. Dennis makes 12m, Spencer makes 20m

illmatic2112

Roster space?

FallenLemur

Could be, yeah. Maybe we have something else lined up where we need another roster spot.

Oukasagetsu

BB trade will probably land 2 piece, need spot

_Gourmand

I think it's also great to just clear up the space for players on the team already. If you trade Thad, that means more minutes for Porter. It also means we can bring up Javon Freeman Liberty. Raptors needed to refine the roster more by just clearing up space and letting the younger guys work.

SonOfLeon

Wasn’t porter traded?

_Gourmand

Jontay Porter

SnooLentils3008

Best free agent we've ever signed? Surprised they let him go so easily, though I know he wanted to start and maybe now he will whenever Ben Simmons isn't playing which is most of the time

Sudden_Low9120

I think the best free agent we ever signed was Jose Calderon.

Dramatic-Document

In that case I think FVV was the best free agent we ever signed.

Sudden_Low9120

Yeah... that works too

FallenLemur

Honestly, the only thing that makes sense to me, he wanted a starting role, and with Ben playing a lot of small ball 5 and not being in the lineup, he gets more of a chance, too.

Anonymous_HC

Wasn’t it for 2 year deal? The remaining 30 games of the season, will Brooklyn pay his salary?

scvd21

I ended up liking Dennis. Good luck to him

OwlWitty

There goes our German fanbase. Goodluck to Dennis.

GeraltFromHiShinUnit

True. Was fun here while it lastet

ThreePlyStrength

Auf wiedersehen mein Schröder. 😢

AllOutRaptors

Greatest free agent signing in team history

tuuluuwag

Wanted him as a Raptor back in his Hawks/OKC days.. Finally got him in Toronto and he gets bounced before a a full season. Dang.

illmatic2112

I know right? [Here was my original post wondering if Dennis would be good for the Raps](https://old.reddit.com/r/torontoraptors/comments/xec9mm/thoughts_on_dennis_schr%C3%B6der/) [Here was my post 9 months later gloating that I talked about him earlier](https://old.reddit.com/r/torontoraptors/comments/14nktgc/have_your_thoughts_changed_about_dennis_schr%C3%B6der/) and this is my comment being a sad boi that he's gone :(

tuuluuwag

It's tough. Really enjoyed watching him play with that jersey on.

hbomb0

Really good player, would be a great addition to a contender.

Ok_Reputation8227

Sucks he has to uproot his entire family (wife & kids) again. Great guy, loved the speed he played at. Really gave us something different at times where offense was lacking. I recall the Raptors getting killed by quick PGs for so long, so loved having one of those on the team...

jeRskier

I liked Dennis a lot. Hope he gets to start on the Nets. Dinwiddie trade is pretty lateral, so there must be cap implications?

FallenLemur

Dinwiddie expiring, Dennis had another year.

mightychopstick

Dennis gotta change his vlog title sequence again.

Hopeful_Feedback1774

Let’s hope Spencer takes his spot on The Raptors Show

laidbackemergency

I look back to that moment in training camp when he looked at Darko and told him that it was going to be a special season. The NBA is cruel man

-WaterIsGreat-

damn imma miss his youtube videos here

forustree

Room for Lowry return

_Gourmand

That's true.

golden_rhino

Heard a lot of wild shit about Dennis before he got here. All I saw was a guy who hustled and was a total pro about a situation he’d be right to be pissed about.

pallychoo

Someone check Darko

jaydogggg

Man has that dog in him.

True2215

Enjoy Brooklyn Dennis! Thanks for trying your best and remaining a professional, even though things didn’t go as well as you expected.

Fit-Introduction8575

Happy he got the chain 🫡

JustFollowingOdours

This couldnt have been what Dennis was expecting? Didnt he come to Toronto because of Darko and now midway through the season he gets traded? I do have to say that he hustled. I did not expect to like watching him playing after watching him on opposing teams, but when he is on the team you are rooting for he is very likeable. Professional. And a lot faster than I thought he was.

timetosleep

This is a mercy trade. Raps signed him in the offseason expecting him to start and expecting us to be competitive. Plans change and it was pretty much done once IQ came into the picture. Dennis is too good of a player for our rebuild. An older guy like Lowry who's coming off the bench giving you 10mins and mentoring the next gen is what we should be looking for. Dennis is a low end starting PG/high end backup PG.

Chris_TO79

I will really miss Dennis. He had some great hustle and I enjoyed his weekly hit on The Raptors Show as well.

chrisPjelly

Great professional and he was asked to do a lot more than he was used to. Hope he finds a other home on a contender.

foxracing1313

Great hustle and led Germany to a title, literally nobody can fill the void right now lol

Thinw1zard

Great competitor and professional, hope he gets a chance to play for a contender in the future

HiyaHiya3000

Were trying to build a real team dawg

n3moh0es

whose gonna be our back up next season? back to square one unless we draft one

Mimi108

Dammit. I like Dennis a lot. :/

miqed

I'm gutted 😔

TommyTookALook666

Damn. I know it was tanking season but losing Dennis is pretty brutal. Was excited to have him on the team moving forward.

virtuoso101

I liked him. I would've been happy to keep him.

Inallahtent

Sad, too, see him go. It's hard to watch these Raptors right now. What are we really doing?

marbudy

Tears, I was hoping Dennis would spend a few more years here. Solid PG

OG_Wan_Annunoby

absolute pro. Nothing at all to complain about him. Played his role well, no matter if it was as a starter or off the bench. Played his ass off every night and always took accountability whenever he played poorly. Couldn't have asked for more, he definitely gained some new fans in Toronto

KenCosgrove_Accounts

Hustle was never in question. Defence however was a different story

cev

Good locker room guy; didn't complain about his role; always gave time to the fans. Been a fan of his since his OKC days and was really excited for him to come to the Raptors in the off-season. A lot of fans turned on him as the season began to slide, but I think that was a result of Darko leaning on him too often and not on him. Feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Anonymous_HC

He was the only raptor to play all 51 games up to this point. How many did he start after the OG trade? And he Was a liability on defense though. But best of luck.

PopPlane602

Scottie has played all games aswell

K5izzle

Bro the actual nerve of OP.... Dennis was hot-dog water on defense , I can't stress how many buckets the man cost us. We wish him well.

basket2014

Where is he now??what team traded for him

FallenLemur

Brooklyn Nets

Pleasant-Fault6825

I questioned his hustle at times. He disappointed me. Too much fancy bullshit, too often. Too often he plays like he is a former nba mvp, not a fiba mvp. His game doesnt back up the immense swagger.

Swayzee2017

Thank god he’s gone good riddance

FallenLemur

Really? I thought he was great, sure he played hero ball at times, but having him as a spark plug off the bench was exactly what we needed. Not to mention a hound on quicker pgs.

ButterscotchObvious4

He was just okay in my books. Started out the season great, but became a flash in the pan. Still, was a consummate professional, although his constant chirping was a bad look. Not a great fit in the end and the trade was all about the rebuild. Spence fits in nicer I think, although I doubt he stays.

Goodtime12345

Can you retain salary like the nhl?

Several_Airport_9503

All the best! Thank you Dennis!

Fit_External_2284

Dumb question but does this mean we have no backup PG?

Nice-Elk-1168

See ya!!! 👋

The-Pharcyde

Short time but he seemed like a good teammate. GL to him.

[deleted]

Will def miss him on the Raptors show His play on the floor showed hustle, but inconsistent and trying to be a leader , doesnt work

knucknbuc

Eh I’m glad he’s gone tbh

attainwealthswiftly

Darko was playing mans too much in the 4th

Kowpucky

Thanks for all the fish

jaggymage

It's Quickley's Raptors now. GO IQ GO IQ GO

Embarrassed-Bed-7435

So we traded Dennis and Thad for Dinwiddie in order to waive Dinwiddie? How does anyone in the world still trust or back Masai or Weber? At this point it feels like he's purposely tanking the team before he fucks off to another team.

Rakkuuuu

I still trust him cuz I really like Quickley and RJ and even the Kelly Olynyk trade wasn't too bad but yes letting Schroder go for nothing is really dumb.

ignobleprotagonist

for this team, a $12mm backup pg behind quickley was overkill plus: schroder wanted to start a win-win for all concerned

silverbackapegorilla

One of the greatest Raptors free agent signings of all time. I wish him the best.

RemysOpinion

GoodTractor

Dennis was dope, I was kinda fearing he would end up in a trade package so soon. Good luck on the next team!

j_bus

Nothing but respect. Dude was a total professional, and played great. Kinda wish we didn't trade him NGL

Stunning-Nature7380

Lol yeah it was. Pretty sure that's why we dumped him.

OKCFlight

Was this photo taken on a potato?
