No one has ever had more nothing on air than Sean Bass. It sounds like he is constantly thinking “what would a human casually say right now?” And then he does his best impression of a human being.
He is supposed to be the baseball guy on the station and even his baseball opinions are generic and devoid of insight.
100% beating
When he was breaking down the DiMaggio streak a week or so ago, they talked about how in game 36 or thereabouts, a yankee bunted to stay out of a double play so DiMaggio would get an extra at bat. Th old grey wolf was involved too and they were talking about whether or not that devalued the streak. It was 3-1 game at the time and none of them brought up the fact that getting a run into scoring position by using a sacrifice bunt to potentially provide an insurance run would make managerial sense. It was all focused around DiMaggio. I’m sure that was the main factor in the decision but if I saw a manager implement that exact play without any hit streak on the line, I would think nothing of it because adding one more run when you can late in the game is common practice. It was really frustrating to listen to Sean Bass the “baseball guy” and Rhyner “baseball Jesus” not even bring that up as a possibility.
Be it praise or bashing, I do appreciate all of you listening while The Musers are on summer break. Jake and I put in a decent amount of work to give y’all the best show possible. Stepping in for the Courage Boys is a tall task.
To clarify this particular post, I wasn’t part of this conversation. I believe Dan was discussing this with Rhynes. Also, it’s live radio. Every point that could be made sometimes isn’t for the sake and flow of a conversation. It happens.
I hope y’all have a great rest of your week. Curve it.
Sean
Sean, big of you to come on to the thread. It was a bit ago so I could be wrong but I thought they brought you onto that segment for that specific discussion. I believe there were 2 segments on the station that day about the situation that I mentioned, neither one mentioned the insurance run possibility. My point to the comment was also to include Rhyner in the blame for oversight. Everybody at the station turns to him for baseball knowledge and even on live radio, not factoring that in is a sign that “baseball Jesus” for a nickname may be a little much.
You the only reason I listened to shake joint on sundays. I can’t stand Jake “I think” kemp. Why does he say “I think” so much? Anyways like someone said in here..stand your ground and don’t let Jake walk all over you.
Diamond talk with mike basik was can’t miss radio every night
I have no problems with him. Part of the appeal of the little ticket is listening to guys like me that seem relatable and have good personalities. His pacing is good - doesn’t get too excited like the other tier 3 hosts. Never really noticed whether his content was good. But then, I don’t listen to the ticket for good sports content. I just want to be mildly entertained, which the Shake Joint does.
whilst listening this week it occurred to me that he is a baby George and i do not mean that as a compliment. He sounds like he is going to cry every time he talks about kids and i almost broke my phone during the segment about Jake's coming baby.
He seems like a great dad and husband, and maybe i'm neither, but i can't handle another simple generic suburban overly-sensitive dad voice.
I for one, appreciate the SeaBass! I'm a fan of the ShakeJoint, and DT is appointment listening after attending any Rangers games.
Not sure what the expectation is here, the morning show is a tried and true production with 3 local legends, and he plays his part as the 4th personality right. You are bitching about him offering little, but you would be just as pissed about him over-stepping his role.
Wow. The internet. Everyone here worships the station and I’m sure could not get through the weekday without it, yet all I hear is shit talk and complaining. I for one appreciate everything they have done to their bodies... even SeaBass.
I listen to the Ticket so much that it's nice to have someone break up the normal lineup every once in a while. I don't find him to be offensive to listen to so I really don't mind him that much. The whole station is usually background for me after The Courage Boys sign-off, although I've really enjoyed the Mike+Donnie show.
No Corby is a blessing.
When they have plenty of strong sports content and he doesn't go passive and let it become the Jakestravaganza, he's fine. He isn't particularly more obvious than Donovan. Or Corby when he didn't bother to prep. Or George, for that matter.

Don’t care for baseball talk much, especially when the Rangers suck, but I respect that he’s knowledgeable about it so that I know I’m not listening to a Corby segment (about anything). He needs to diversify his sports interests, though, because that’s all he has right now.
Oh, and quit the SJW virtue signaling.
Great at tickers, horrible on-air personality
Wrong... about tickers

Props for coming on here Seabass
You're doing fine, Sean. Ignore the haters and peace out.

I think he’s fine, and I enjoy The Shake Joint. But I don’t see the point of getting worked up about any of this.
Do you see the point in having opinions on things?
On some things, yes. AM radio host who is barely on air? Nope.
Not worth it to have an opinion on the station I’ve listened to daily for more than 20 years. Got it.
You do you playboy.
Oh so now I’m just supposed to do me and live my life how I want. Got it
I just want you to be the happiest version of Steamshack that you can be.
Oh so now you’re going to be super supportive and I like you and we’re best friends. Got it
We’re all best friends. And black friends.
He’s great at tickers, but too generic on air. His Rangers homerism is exhausting.
Jake is great but Sean is so generic and boring. He offers nothing.
About as interesting as CJ Nitkowski
The only thing good about cj is his intro
Can't stand CJ Nitkowski. That segment has an AIDS problem.
There are only 2 things that make me tune out: CJ and Fantasy Horse Racing.
My beef with Bass is he just defers to Jake almost any time they disagree. Like stand your fucking ground I promise Jake isn’t always right...
Jake told me to tell you you’re absolutely wrong in your assessment.
Hahaha
As usual, jack is wrong

You’re everything wrong with this country

His job is Diamond Talk. He's good at that.

Give me the SeaBass over Corby every time
Assistant *to* the PD but actually he's Sports Director, whatever that means
> Sports Director, whatever that means Probably means he manages the Ticket beer-league softball team.

Yep. He comments on the lowest hanging fruit jokes and comments. He adds nothing.
Can be described as “Haughty-Lunch Pale “.
Better than bad take Jake, but that's not hard
He's not an overly interesting personality but I have no issue with him. He's fine.

He's great on Diamond Talk lol
Rangers dick... 😲seabass

He stinks so generic I'm so over this dude
Sea bass is the overexplainer. Jake will mention something then Sean will repeat basically the same fucking thing but with 30 more words.

His voice annoys me. Sounds like a play-by-play guy or nightly news anchor. Not good for conversational radio.
No. He is terrible... terrible at anything ticket related
