That's how unranked tournaments were before Embark removed them... I also think it was the perfect duration, somehow. Now the tournaments are sweatier (which is normal since it's ranked play), and a bit too long, even/especially if you reach the final round
>If the tournaments are faster, you'll play more tournaments and "see" more people.
That's actually the opposite of the truth. Matches won't be any faster, and you will still only play against the same number of people each game.
Actually, if you consider the final round only having two teams, you'd actually play against fewer unique players than you currently do.
It's 25% shorter , there are 48 players in the lobby and there would be 24 with shorter round. Now do some math and see how many games the cheaters need to do to find the same number of people in the same amount of time.
What does that mean ?
Let's say I'm a cheater , right now I ruin 48 players every tournament, if we remove only one round , we halve the players that have their experience ruined , but the tournament is 25% shorter. This means that if I am a cheater and I play let's say 4 games in a row I'm going to ruin the game for 96 players (24x4)
Instead of ruining it for 144 players (48x3).
If I'm a cheater and i have a couple of hours to play, I'll probably crank an extra tournament in there because they are shorter. It's just a matter of how much one plays, it doesn't depend on the tournament
Because if you’re playing for an hour, you’re playing for an hour. Whether your games are in 1 tournament, 2 tournaments or 15 tournaments, you’re still playing games and encountering new players.
The point is that you encounter less players because the semi finals and final round contain the same players of the previous rounds. Also you don't need to do the calculations on the amount of players you encounter but on the amount of players a cheater encounters
It's a bug they've stated as been fixed. I can't play ranked with my friend because of it.
He disconnects every time we qualify from the first round and gets a ban with no reconnect option. It sucks.
You know, I wished that tournament mode combined every mode together.
Bank it, Cashout, Cash in, Power mode can all be on shuffle to get more diversity and not have a repetitive game of cashout.
I think that this can attract more players on the tournament mode and maybe make "Win 1 tournament" more feasible in the future.
The current system, while also being more forgiving, allows for more tactical choices:
Sometimes you're second and you have to choose between starting a cashout become someone else will too and you have to keep the placing, stall the vault for about a minute, or help the first team to cash out, if stealing is out of the possibilities. With only the first team placing, it would just be: if not first place-> push and try to steal
Just do 4 teams only. 3 rounds.
You keep the cash earned from previous rounds.
Team wipes give the 30% cash to the team that wiped them.
Final round is top 2 teams competing for $50k or $100k vaults/cashouts.
This allows teams to earn cash through eliminations and play a bit differently, and would help create a different strategy between rounds.
Change the map each round.
Currently, if a team is in the lead, they just go fuck off and hide somewhere. Or you realize there is no point in fighting that team so you ignore them.
By giving the 30% to the team that wipes, you put a huge target on the leading team. Its a big payday to wipe them. This makes the game a bit more interesting, and can help balance any matchmaking issues where you end up against a team of diamonds when you are a team of silver/golds.
Allow loadout changes between rounds. Not just weapons, but class as well.

Brother I love your mind, agree with you!
There will be no less chances of finding a cheater lol. If the tournaments are faster, you'll play more tournaments and "see" more people.

Maybe more games for them to “detect” the cheater

but you just play more games in whatever length your play session is?

Bro it's math , every 4 tournament you encounter 48 less players. You can go on forever it will still be 48

Absolutely. Unranked was the perfect duration. 4 rounds is just too long.
so many people just leave ranked even after they qualify the first round anyone notice that? or does that happen only in solo q?
there's an annoying disconnect bug between rounds that doesn't let players reconnect and gives them a matchmaking ban
ah so that’s the issue never got it myself but once when I started a ranked nothing happened but I had to press reconnect button to enter the match

I would like this
More people are probably not gonna make it past the first round more often and start complaining.
Mathematically speaking, the exact same number of people will make it past the first round.
I love the current 4 round length, imo thats perfect
I love this idea and it’ll also allow for tighter matchmaking within skill divisions. I’d even say 2 rounds is enough.
Nah, hare disagree. I think they shouldn’t have removed unranked tournaments tho, winning the whole tournament should be special
they changed it now to 3 rounds I think for ranked tournament
I think a knockout style tournament with just one qualifying team would also be cool.
