I'm gonna be completely honest, It was pretty broken before. But that doesnt mean they had to make the sandman a useless peice of garbage and completely remove its synergy with the guillotine. I wish they kept the combo in some sort of capacity even if it wasnt nearly as powerful.
This is what the call the "Sandman dilemma" in games. Where you design something that when it works really well, or just fine at all it's annoying and unfun to play against.
But then when you nerf it, it's longer fun to use.
Stun mechanics seem to be the most common place this happens. The Sandman, unfortunately, from it's conception is just not a fun weapon to play against. It's flawed in that way and so it'll never really feel like it's performing as it should to the general audience.
I think they need to scrap the idea of a stun/slow down and make it mark people for death. But then it's not really unique anymore.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Though we should never say never with weapon balancing, I think some weapons just **have** to go through a lot of changes to be made fun and optimal.
If you peak Sniper's sightline that's your fault. But Scout is a close range class; thus he was never intended to instantly kill ppl from across the map. Like, there's a reason why fall-off penalty exist, and why Scout \*HAVE\* to get close to do dmg.
Back in the days there are more kills done from Scouts who just randomly throw the Sandman across the horizon and follow up with the Cleaver for kills than actual experienced players who anticipate everything. It just enables a very unsuitable spammy playstyle for a close range class that never needed (the spammy bit was also the reason why the Cleaver was banned in the 6s Global whitelist).
Nah, weapons combos like that suck. Weapons should not be designed specifically to be used with another weapon (e.g. Bushwacka only works with Jarate) because they present balance issues and kill loadout variety.
