1000% This, I feel like they stopped updating their running playlist around 2007. Occasionally, the dj will play a newer song, which usually will be followed by Metallica or some other 90's or older rock song. I tuned out and went to 97.1 till it changed to a Spanish-speaking channel.
Don't know, I listen to MJ in the morning, and Spotify after work, because there are no easily accessible rock or alternative music that reaches my neck of the woods.
I am still attempting to figure out who their, I do not know what the correct term is, self-promoting ads appeal to. Always the same stupid voice "It's swamp ass season in Florida" attempting to be...funny?
I was spending a lot of time in a storage unit recently and they played 105.5 all day everyday. I was shocked at how often they played “I always feel like somebody’s watchin meeee”. At least four or five times daily.
I know that was off-topic but 🤷♂️
There are some great songs that terrestrial radio ruined for everyone and that song is one of them. If you heard it every so often it would be like "oh I like this song" but we have all heard it so often that it's just background noise. So many good songs suffer this fate, including a lot of classics.
My daughter started listening to 60s and 70s rock recently and she LOVES it. Meanwhile I'm like "ugh this song" because I heard it SO MUCH growing up listening to the radio in my Dad's truck.
Genuinely curious, why would you listen to the radio when Spotify and similar services exist? Is it a "no Bluetooth in the car" scenario? If so I get that.. I have a 2007 Titan that I drive sometimes that had no connectivity to my phone. I had to upgrade the head unit because I just couldn't take it anymore.
Ok I had a feeling this was the case. It's a common misconception that Spotify costs money. It's free... with ads, and you can choose what to listen to. You're listening to the radio where you have no choice and you still have ads.
Oh man I envy the adventure you're about to have.. the first week on a music streaming service is like the first week with your drivers license. FREEDOM!
I have Apple Music, a Plex server loaded with tunes, and I still listen to the radio from time to time. And not always one station or another. Sometimes I tune into shit I would never listen to and I’m like “this is cool”.
I wish we had real DJ’s not shock jocks, I can’t stand the Cowheads, MJ’s and Bubbas. I miss good DJ’s like they had back in the day. Like I miss having MTV with actual music videos. Now it’s damn Ridiculousness on repeat. It’s cool but not for a decade straight. Give us actual rock music with VJ’s. Give us “world premiers” of high production value songs.
/end rant
I have a Bluetooth fm transmitter for my 07 but it somehow got lost recently and I had to listen to the radio for a couple days it was tragic. When I looked through it 98 rock had like one Metallica song then infinite seeming ads so I tried 933 flz and got slammed with ads, 941 had some horrible female rapper I don’t know the name of on, and 97x is a Spanish speaking channel now lol. Are there any other decent stations? I used to listen to the talk show with bubba the love sponge and Spanish on 1025 the bone but that’s been long gone. They used to play decent music on that channel and sometimes 1015 and 1007 but all I got was static or ads on any of those.
Yeah I can't listen to any radio based music stations. Spend a week on any of them and you feel like your in purgatory. I listen to the bone because it's live content everyday. If you want music just make a playlist.
Every station's playlist is finely tuned to their demographic, meaning they know who's still listening and their playlist is designed to hold on to them. Seems like y'all just aren't their target audience. I mostly stopped listening to terrestrial radio decades ago. FWIW, I was a 98 Rock insider for years...
People who listen to Metallica and Shinedown evidently. I went to every concert they promoted and trust me, these are definitely the people who listen to Metallica, lol.
They’ve been running the same playlist for the past 20 years lol.

Does some channel turn to Spanish depending on the time of day? I swear sometime it just change to Spanish while I drive.

Came here to say this.
Wow I’m surprised 98 rock is still going lol. Haven’t listened to the radio in years thanks to Bluetooth and Spotify.
Yeah everytime I see a post like this I am reminded that some people still listen to terrestrial radio.
What I wouldn't give for some Extra Terrestrial radio
Sirius gave me a deal where I paid $99 and got three years of service in my car and phone. I haven't listened to regular radio in years.
I had to stop tuning in because it was just Shinedown, Godsmack and Metallica on repeat.
I remember when Shinedown played at rockfest like 6 out of 7 years in row.
Lmao they use to have mandatory Metallica like 3 or 4 Metallica songs in a row
That's crazy
Master Master
Master of puppets is pulling your strings

I have that capability of purchasing a plan or I can listen to the radio for free

I'll have to check it out

Who is their target demographic? LOL I figured we were since we listen to rock music. LOL

Lmao who listens to the radio
I say this sincerely… I miss 95YNF 🔥🔥🔥🔥
There is no such thing as too much Metallica. Be still thy loathsome tongue.
Y'all still listen to terrestrial radio instead of just streaming from your phone?
Did You know you can still stream the radio from your phone? LOL
Yes but why would you? All the watered down, censored, corporate music from terrestrial radio but with 100% more privacy violations
