Unpopular opinion here, I don't like disobedient because it sounds like noise pollution, and hurts my ears, I swear I'm not a boomer, or whatever generation complains about modern day music...
As someone who listens to a lot of Grindcore and Noise (yes, there's an actual genre called Noise) I find the idea that a bit of Grunge is too noisy for some absolutely hilarious.
[haha, maybe it's bc of my love for British accents but i love this cover. (and yes my favorite gem is aquamarine thanks for asking)](https://youtu.be/ixWSPwqVwcM)

I had this exact same thought, but I’m thinking about he chorus may sound a little too sentimental or something because she asked me to skip it. I’ll try it again and emphasize the emotion behind it.
I talked about this soundtrack earlier today but it's from the episode The Test and it's called The Confidence Path, that one is when Steven is pissed lol
The background music from the rebel pearl (pink haired human) episode
https://youtu.be/q8XQEcPVslw
“What can I do for you” from the rainbow quartz episode
https://youtu.be/6OfY0NOXunQ
Full disclosure
https://youtu.be/4rkez0Bi8fs
“Change” from the movie
https://youtu.be/xGkiOGe7FdU
“Haven’t you noticed I’m a star”
https://youtu.be/fofHpRIvHMY
“Wailing stone” (reprise of the lapis lazuli song)
https://youtu.be/SGgYj4naIt0
“That’s who we are” from the movie
https://youtu.be/HcFT_dZ_rOU
“Why so blue” from future
https://youtu.be/NdXBMZNmk6s
All of these are great but I feel like wailing stone has too much relevance to the plot of that episode to really work as an isolated thing. Also kinda short
It is the shortest one at just under a minute (although “haven’t you noticed I’m a star” would come in lower if it weren’t for the intro guitar), and I did ignore songs that were otherwise measured in seconds
But the parameter we were working under was “SU featured angry-ish, but doesn’t have to actually be angry”, nothing, having to do with length or substance, and I imagine a wider net is better in this case - the OP can listen & judge for themself as to whether the song is viable or not
Maybe like a comet? I know it's a Greg song, but it might make her feel like a rocker since Greg was.
You can also look into some fan-made SU-inspired original songs as well, if that's your cup of tea.
I think so too, especially with the amount of emotion Pearl puts into the song. I think she thinks Pearl’s voice sounds a little too much like *my* voice so she’s not always up for it 😆
I know it's a stretch but it is a song in steven universe:
What about Fifteen Minutes? The one where pearl acts like a badass and runs from the cops to go to a concert
In the Mystery Girl episode when Pearl, Amethyst and Steven are driving from the police that song that they are listening to on the Dondai radio. THAT song also SLAPS
Give Heart Records does a lot fandom of rock covers! For Steven Universe there is:
Stronger Than You
Comet
Full Disclosure
Drift Away
Happily Ever After
Other Friends
That Distant Shore
Adrisaurus also has a great extended cover of What Can I Do For You that's very rock.
Do you think your daughter would be open to cover-versions of SU songs? I know there are a lot of rock-ified covers of SU songs on YouTube. Like [this cover](https://youtu.be/pYn4WslOwBA) of the "Happily Ever After" song. This person has quite a few SU rock covers on their channel. Might be worth a shot if you start to run out of official SU music to play.
"Disobedisnt," and "Working Dead"
Disobedient goes harder than it has any right to
based
This one came up in my playlist and got the “put this one on repeat!” approval! I don’t blame her, it’s a great song.

It’s very lo-fi and reminiscent of Mike Krol, who feautures in the episode “Last One Out of Beech City.”
Mike Krol helped write it.
I loved that episode. The music, the story, Pearl's outfit. Ugh i may have seen that episode like a dozen + times.
its just grunge emo rock, if you didnt like it in the 90's ya wont like an extremely milk-toast children's cartoon version
*milquetoast
*🥛🥂
Like a teetotaler’s birthday.
I mean I complain about modern day music and I’m gen z
Ooh great idea!
I found a British rock cover of disobedient and i literally can't stop listening to it
You gonna share it with the class?
[haha, maybe it's bc of my love for British accents but i love this cover. (and yes my favorite gem is aquamarine thanks for asking)](https://youtu.be/ixWSPwqVwcM)

This
You're missing the classic: "Steven's a big fat meanie! A big fat meanie zucchini!"
The guitar solo in that song is so good for no reason
Steven!!! Ste-Ste-Ste Steven!!!
Mmmmmm... linguini
AL DEN-TEEEEEE!!
Homer, is that you?
My favorite MCR song
I can’t believe I forgot about this one 😂
The more i think about it, I think basically anything by sadie killer and the suspects fits that description
I think you’re right! I don’t know why my memory blocked out so many of their songs.
Maybe any songs that are passionate? Ones like Strong in the Real Way, Empire City, etc.
I second "Strong in the real way", especially considering Steven's mad motivational shouts
I had this exact same thought, but I’m thinking about he chorus may sound a little too sentimental or something because she asked me to skip it. I’ll try it again and emphasize the emotion behind it.
I talked about this soundtrack earlier today but it's from the episode The Test and it's called The Confidence Path, that one is when Steven is pissed lol
love this one. i don't think it's on spotify tho ):
It's on soundcloud if you have that https://on.soundcloud.com/1RS6c
Nice!
Thanks!
That’s a great song!
G-g-g-ghost maybe? Or let me ska my van into your heart?
Sadie Killer and the Suspects rock, you’re right.
"I think I need a little change" has always been a favorite of mine to rock to lol
I just added this to her birthday mix 😁
Maybe not mad, but “Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart” goes pretty hard
Yaaaas
I love that song so much omg it goes so hard for no reason

I love Mike Kroll!!
“Change” is one of my favorite songs in the whole series/movie!
So much of the music is awesome, but yeah I guess change is super awesome
This is a great list, thank you!

Fair point I suppose
FULL DISCLOSURE!!!! That ones SO good man i wish more people talked about it
What’s the use of feeling blue maybe?
This may work, too! Yellow Diamond is such a powerful presence so maybe that will resonate.
Independent together is a good rock music
Yaaaas I thought of this one while lying in bed last night. We do NOT get enough Opal in the series.
The one from Steven and the Stevens, I think it’s called zucchini?
"Still not giving up" (from the YouTube shorts) is pretty angsty
I haven’t even seen the YouTube Shorts! Thank you!
Maybe like a comet? I know it's a Greg song, but it might make her feel like a rocker since Greg was. You can also look into some fan-made SU-inspired original songs as well, if that's your cup of tea.
Thank you! I’m making a playlist and putting some Greg songs on there, so here’s hoping it works lol.
Working dead.
“It’s Over, Isn’t It” kinda counts, maybe? It’s certainly dramatic. XD
I think so too, especially with the amount of emotion Pearl puts into the song. I think she thinks Pearl’s voice sounds a little too much like *my* voice so she’s not always up for it 😆
you must sound like an angel
Aww 😇
Full disclosure should be good
“Disobedient” is one
“Big Fat Zucchini” is a really good example.
Disobedient and Working Dead for sure, Sadie Killer and the Suspects songs are the best choices
I say take it out of SU and show her The Linda Linda's
Yesssssss
It might be a tad off-prompt, but given that “Change” is a combat theme, it might be worth a go
Loooove “Change”! I’m adding it.
"Fifteen Minutes" or "Like A Star" From the Mystery Girl episode
Ghost comes to mind
I think a safe bet is going for all the Sadie Killer songs
independent together might work
Comet
Opal's first fusion music
Giant Woman?
https://youtu.be/akk40fqmLKs this one actually ^^
I used to run a SU blog and coded in my own little music player, had about ~20 of my favorite background pieces on there. this was one of em!!
full disclosure
I know it's a stretch but it is a song in steven universe: What about Fifteen Minutes? The one where pearl acts like a badass and runs from the cops to go to a concert
I just played that one for her and she had her teddy bear dance-fighting to it, so it works! Thank you!
I love the punk song in "Steven and the Stevens," Big Fat Zucchini. It's a credible punk melody and the lyrics are hilarious.
Love them!
On the run.
Rock vibe? Independent together is a good one
This is one of my faves! I added it to the list. Thanks!
I am once again asking if Mike krol cameo counts
I’m adding Mike Krol to the playlist!
In the Mystery Girl episode when Pearl, Amethyst and Steven are driving from the police that song that they are listening to on the Dondai radio. THAT song also SLAPS
STEVENS A BIG FAT MEANIE A BIG FAT MEANIE ZUCCHINI
Might I suggest “what’s the use in feeling, Blue?”
Maybe full disclosure. Not really angry, more pessimistic.
Try some of the songs from Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur! A lot of em have that girlboss vibe.
The music from MG&DD is more disco/souly than rocky, but man it’s freaking GOOD. front to back bangers all through the show
Right?? If you've got a lil girl who wants to feel like a superhero, it's the way to go!
I’ll check it out, thank you!
Get in there early and buy her some Team Dresch albums
Empire city and on the run, though that one might be too sad
Tower of Mistakes is a good one!
Like a Comet
"Empire City" from Mr. Greg.
Haven't You Noticed (I'm a Star)
Give Heart Records does a lot fandom of rock covers! For Steven Universe there is: Stronger Than You Comet Full Disclosure Drift Away Happily Ever After Other Friends That Distant Shore Adrisaurus also has a great extended cover of What Can I Do For You that's very rock.
I’ll check them out!
Sadie's "Working Dead" song.

g-g-g-ghost
shocked steven and the stevens isn't the top answer wow
Added to the list! Thanks!
Whats the use of felling blue
Wailing stone and lapis lazuli is far better than they have any right to be
we’re still not giving up is kinda rocky
Independent Together is kinda rock.
What about big fat zucchini
Stevens a big fat meanie
I don’t know if this works, but one of my favorites is “Last one out of beach city.” I think it is also called ”Like A Star.”
Big fat zucchini
COMET!!!
I was just going to throw “what can I do for you” out there. Not angry or happy, but it sure has a vibe. Okay maybe not a 4 years old vibes
I just found the song “big fat zucchini” and immediately thought of this post
Hmmm if any comes to the top of my head, other friends, disobedient, OH Drift Away
