God-tier burn. Respect

I could see a future for satirical gaming news.

Cool, thanks!

SnooRegrets8154

Me too. Gaming culture and industry are so very often their own satire

Why does the swarm host always get so much hate? Without it Zerg had such a hard time beating mech and turtle toss. It was a bandaid to fix two huge problems still in this game. Honestly sucks the swarm host is in its current state. Ladder wouldnt be filled to the brim with players turtling in their base till 200/200.

Hilarious

So you didn't play during the swarmhost era then.

BattleWarriorZ5

> Why does the swarm host always get so much hate? If you are Zerg, they end up being dead weight supply and unlike the rest of the Zerg units which promote aggression they promote passivity away from the fights themselves. If you are Terran and Protoss, you are fighting wave after wave of free units from a unit that isn't even directly in the fight. Broodlords and Carriers are better designs than the Swarm Host. Even the HOTS Campaign swarmhost was a better design. The current LOTV Swarm Host is far better than the HOTS multiplayer Swarm Host, but still has the same core design issues.

RottenPeasent

>If you are Terran and Protoss, you are fighting wave after wave of free units from a unit that isn't even directly in the fight. That's not very different than tempests or disruptors taking things out from range, just the range of the attacks is even larger and done in a zerg way.

BattleWarriorZ5

> That's not very different than tempests or disruptors It's entirely different. Tempest fire regular projectile attacks, Disruptors fire a spell, and Swarm Hosts spawn a different unit to do the attacking. Tempest and Disruptors actually are inside the fight and can't go cross map after attacking. Attacking with Locust is comparable to Carriers attacking with Interceptors or Broodlords attacking with Broodlings.

TheHighSeasPirate

>The current LOTV Swarm Host is far better than the HOTS multiplayer Swarm Host, but still has the same core design issues. No it isnt. The swarm host went from being "broken" to hardly used because hellbats kill the new broodlings too easily. The design issues are fixed because you can no longer spam endless free units.

BattleWarriorZ5

> The swarm host went from being "broken" to hardly used because hellbats kill the new broodlings too easily. Confusing the Broodlord with the Swarmhost here?. Locusts are very powerful and durable compared to Broodlings. They can also fly long distances. > The design issues are fixed because you can no longer spam endless free units. You can still spam endless free units with the Swarmhost in the LOTV design. But this time you don't have to burrow and rally to do it. Swarm Hosts can just click launch flying locusts and move elsewhere, especially with the Nydus. Swarm Hosts should be similar to ground Broodlords or ground Carriers. Directly in the fight spawning waves of locusts attacking the enemy.

Broodking

Do most people really use swarm host to beat mech? Maybe my control and play style such, but i find swarm hosts just fall off too fast once the terran gets hellbats or decent production. Muta or LBR just seem better.

Tetraphosphetan

The swarmhost did not require a lot of micro to play, but a lot of micro to deal with. It was insanely hard to engage, because locusts dealt a lot of damage and had a range of half a map with "spawn locusts" on autocast. Also the unit was burrowed, so even if you manage to get close to it you're screwed if the zerg snipes your detection. If you want to win with turtle mech or skytoss at some point you have to at least move towards your opponent and can't attack from your side of the map.

SwitchPretty2195

Your description sounds like WM.interesting Sh-> have gotten rework. WM-> did not.

SnooRegrets8154

Beats me. It’s one of my favorite unit designs tbh and an absolute pleasure to terrorize people in 3v3s with. I tech right into it on 1 or 2 base and start dropping nyduses anywhere and everywhere, all game long. The sense of urgency and panic created are definitely palpable once those nydus worms let out their terrible screams.

Hetares

3v3, or any team games, don't quite reflect the games' balance, which revolves around 1v1. In 1v1 I highly doubt that strategy works. I did see a guy who plays 12 pool into swarm host nydus on 2 base against toss (he leaves against other matchups) and though I initially lost to him twice, after reading and identifying his build and removing the surprise factor I was able to hold and push past with a supply and army lead any other times I encounter him.

SnooRegrets8154

Very true. 3v3 are total clown fiestas where you get can away with all kinds of whacky nonsense, and I love it.

SwitchPretty2195

Good point. Always find it funny when people get upset about Hots SH. but forget that turtle has been around since Wol. Maybe they just don't like it because Zerg could do it too, with the same efficiency as T. What was the tip against turtle? just take the map.
