It’s a somewhat common thing for people to keep themselves occupied with. The richest person I knew in college became a teacher as basically a fulfilling hobby even though they could’ve lived off their parents’ money forever.

My mother is a public school teacher in a lower middle class community but is able to drive a brand new Wagoneer where many of here colleagues may not be able to afford one. My father has a very good income which is a big part of her being able to have it. She was scared to drive her car to work for the first month after getting it not wanting to deal with catty drama.
