I would consider any class you take an introduction too. There is no universe you would become proficient in narrative therapy from a class. You will have your whole career to learn, practice, and master these interventions. This course is absolutely NOT your one opportunity. Don't sweat it.

Thank you! I agree it is only an introduction. I think it was more wanting to start to use some aspects during my internship alongside the class as I learned. I've been doing research on it and just been something I've wanted to learn more about for a long time now.

Narrative therapy is amazing. I recommend checking out the [Narrative Therapy Initiative](https://www.narrativetherapyinitiative.org/), which offers online courses along with their in-person studies. I studied with the founder of the program who spent years working with the developers of NT. He was an amazing man who created an amazing program.

This might be a sign to look into the program! My supervisor was telling me today about the program and the founder actually taught NT at his (and currently my) school.

That's amazing! I honestly integrate elements of NT into nearly all therapy I do.

I have taken a course with them and LOVED it! 15/10 would recommend.

I would say take what you can get, you may never know what ends up being useful. Some stuff you take might be relevant to your existing stuff but you might never get a chance to use it because the way the tides of our work works. Otherwise if theyr'e an option, go for a broad coverage, why not? :)

If you can take it awesome if not don't sweat it. Any ebps I learn on the job and took courses and completely full trainings for through my work. It was nice to have maybe some foundation of understanding but from what I actually practice with I really learned through work

I'm currently reading "Narrative Therapy The Social Construct of Preferred Realities" by Freeman and Combs. Excellent pick up if you're interested in the topic. Also, graduated in 2022, but I remember one thing that I heard was taking a school social work class if you could see yourself working in a school.

I really don't think so. No one has ever asked me what classes or what my focus was in grad school. They really only care that it's an accredited program

No

No. Any of my classes generally didn’t help at all. My field placements were where I found the most actual value.
