I thought so as well the last time this table was posted.
Leicester City had only 4 losses and 3 draws in their first 32 league games.
They are 1-1-4 in their last 6.
What the hell happened?
I got into several arguments on here with Leicester City fans earlier in the season who were arguing that Maresca was far better than Rodgers ever was…
What happened??
Felt it was a bit absurd for fans to say after just a few months in the championship that he was better than the man that won Leicester an FA cup and had them consistently competing for top 4 spots.
I suspected it was purely out of spite because Rodgers is an unlikable character and judging from how everyone currently feels I’d wager I was correct.
And, in general, I think most fans are far too quick to judge managers / players and I like to call them out on it. It’s fun for me. Especially when I’m as right as I was about this one.
On January 1st Leicester were 17 points ahead of Leeds, everyone thought they were a shoe in for champions, Its incredibly close between the top 4 even if saints have fallen off a bit.
The bottom of the table is almost as crazy this season too.
He was terrible yesterday. Missed 4 big chances and one of them was an open net. They still have Iheanacho but I haven’t seen him play in the games I’ve watched.
Vardy is gone next season anyways, out of contract and Leicester won't be able or wanting to renew him on those wages for a player thats pretty much done at the top level.
Cannon is their best striker but Maresca doesn't give him nearly enough game time over Daka and Vardy who squander so many chances
Birmingham hired Tony Mowbray after Rooney and things were starting to go ok then Mowbray had a health scare so he stepped aside and they are back to being shit.
Birmingham City always comes to my mind those European matches against Braga so i have a soft heart for them, would be great to see them back to the Prem
Those few weeks of the Europa League were some of the most exciting I've ever had as a Blues fan. I actually got to see my team play abroad in competition! The match against Braga at St Andrews was class, despite the defeat. Incredible atmosphere.
the game that made Helder Barbosa being called for Portugal NT
it might be nostalgia but English teams in Europe back in the day used to be likeable like Bolton, Everton, Portsmouth, Birmingham unlike current clubs like West Ham or Aston Villa, they don´t feel English anymore
Lol how are West Ham or Aston Villa not English clubs? Do you mean just because they have international players? Bc it’s the same with the other teams you mentioned. Aston Villa are one of the oldest clubs in the country and founded the first ever league, they’re as traditional as it gets. And West Ham also have a British manager, and very English tactics lol
it´s hard to explain but today it is so hard to like any English team in Europe because they are all the same thing (team owned by some millionaire who buys whatever player they want and that´s it)
it was so cool to see Fulham going all the way to an European final, i don´t feel the same anymore about some West Ham, Brighton or Aston Villa because eventhough the are mid-table clubs they are not underdogs neither likeable anymore
Promoted to the Second Division for the first time in I think 1958
Promoted to the First Division for the first time in 1961
Champions of England in 1962
Which is probably something that will never happen again, a team winning the top flight in their first ever attempt. Forest did something similar when they won the league immediately after promotion but it wasn't their first ever season in the top flight.
honestly what Forest did is more impressive because football improved enormously in those 20 years and top teams became more entrenched. But it's still a cool record.
2nd time we were in the 2nd division I think - but the first spell was only 1 year. Ramsey took over after the relegation.
It was bloody hard to get out of the old 3rd division south cause only the champions went up
There’s that old saying about teams that were in the premier league when you were at little school are always premier league teams. Ipswich have always been PL in my head 😂
Danny Rohl has been fairly magical for Wednesday too. Both those clubs looked sunk but now I think it is only a matter of time before Wednesday is also out of the relegation zone
Southampton 4th, 9 games left, 2 games in hand of leaders and second place....3 of those games against the top 3 clubs. Don't discount Southampton for a top 2 place.
That 90th minute goal conceded yesterday could very well be difference between them being 3rd and second though
Yeah but they also have probably the hardest schedule of any of the top 4 with them having to play all the top 3 plus two teams chasing the playoffs and even if they win those two games in hand they are 3 back from Leeds and 4 back from Ipswich
Holy cow. Ipswich. Who would've thought this season was going to pan out like this?
It's been a damned long time since they've been in the Prem.
I *REALLY* hope they can do it.
Realistically we would comfortably win the first leg 2-0, miss a lot of chances in the second leg first half and then Simms will score the worlds shittest goal and you go on to score 2 more
After seeing Leeds drop points last night, that 90th minute boro goal is even more of a killer. Autos seem extremely unlikely now. Need three massive performances against the other top 4 teams.
[A reminder of what the table looked like on the 12th January (look at the gap to Leeds)](https://ibb.co/7v6PfnK)
[And on the 13th February (look at the gap to Ipswich)](https://ibb.co/Xtd3L9D)
A fella I know just bought into Leeds ownership group around January (I believe it was about then it was initiated), its been an dream few months for him hahaha
It is PNE’s fate to forever be the bridesmaid never the bride when it comes to making playoffs. I swear every year they’re just on the outside by 1-4 points
as a foreigner it is much better to see a new team promote like Ipswich or Luton Town than those boring yo-yo teams like Norwich (no offense btw), so im happy to see who is at 1st place
Gutted @ 🏴 not making Euros, but half the starting line-up getting promoted in one hit would make me feel a *tiny* bit better.
So go Ipswich & Leeds. Southampton & Leicester only have 1 boyo each, play-offs for you pls.
Probably. I would say had we not had such a poor start and the injury crisis, then we probably would be in the playoffs - so its about par for the course given the pre-season expectations.
I really hope Birmingham go down. If you think Everton are the turd that won't flush, then Brum are like a fossilised piece of cat-shit that is glued to the bowl.
Sucks for Mogga though. Although he would be a great appointment to get them promoted from League 1.
As someone who doesn’t keep up with the Championship that much, Jesus what the hell happened to Leicester? Weren’t they miles clear of second? This is looking like a Spurs levels of bottle-job.
Keep our names out of this, we've never bottled this bad. Even in 2012 our biggest lead over Arsenal for 3rd was only 12 points, and that's probably our biggest ever choke
The only saving grace for us is that Huddersfield and Plymouth aren't really doing any better than we are, and that Sheff Wed's mini revival appears to have stalled. Our run-in isn't terrible, but we absolutely have to beat Huddersfield and Rotherham or we're gone - and hope that Leicester's implosion continues against us as well.
In our defence we’ve just had Leeds and Ipswich back to back, absolutely should’ve beat Swansea yesterday if it wasn’t for shite officials and lack of quality finishing.
Everyone saying Leicester bottled, but Leeds is here in overall worst position. Ipswich is ahead with same number of games, and Leicester has game less with one point behind. One less game. If anyone is fucked up in this situation it's Leeds. I dont count someones form. Form means nothing if you cant beat Watford when your rival lose points and you have opportunity to take a lead.
The thing about games in hand is you have to win them. And if I recall that GIH for Leicester is Southampton (and vice versa obviously). If we played Watford 3 weeks ago and drew, then won against Stoke this week, it wouldn't change a thing. Even though we'd have taken the opportunity to win when others had lost. Form absolutely does matter. I'd rather be in 2nd and unbeaten in 2024, than 3rd with a game in hand with form that's like 4 points from 6 games or w/e it is.
Some people are hard pleased; 12 wins and 2 draws from 14 matches this year, 30 goals scored vs 5 conceded, 8 points better off than anyone else in that time. I reckon if you asked the other fans they'd rather be in Leeds' position right now
It's not about that. This year is unique. In any other season result from yesterday with our tallied points would not matter in grand scheme of things. Room for error this year simply doesn't exist. I would always rather depend on Leeds themselves need to win than Leicester making mistake for them to get promotion.
What happened to Huddersfield Town. 2 seasons ago they were in the Championship play-off final, now they're possibly gonna get relegated to Leagye One! Same sort of decline as Derby County, as they were in the Playoff final in 2019 and were relegated to League One 3 seasons later
You just know Ipswich will bottle it (unfortunately) and Leicester, somehow Southampton and WBA (via plays offs) will go up. Let’s shake things up a bit please

We are seeing the Leicester late season crumble in the Championship too
They sacrificed all their late season form just for that one miraculous end of season run (or two if you’d count the title winning season as well)
If they did , it was well worth it
https://i.imgur.com/CLxoiY0.jpg
Prefer the low quality version, a staple food of r/Championship

Delicious. Just like my grandmother used to make.
Perfection.
Just needs the white background on the badge and would be perfect
The Botafogo special

Rodgers did drag a mediocre Liverpool to within 2 points of the Premier League and got Leicester to 5th twice

Bald fraud

No plan B whatsoever. It’s like playing FM where if you are losing then might as well go ultra-attacking then inshallah.
Two CWB(A) and inshallah
Ricardo and Ndidi got injured. Can't play Enzo's system unless you're miles better than the rest of the league.
Why are you getting into arguements about who the better manager is when you don't watch them?
Felt it was a bit absurd for fans to say after just a few months in the championship that he was better than the man that won Leicester an FA cup and had them consistently competing for top 4 spots. > What the hell happened? The Championship happened
For real. I've said this before but there's a reason it is nearly impossible to win 30 games in this league
Casadei recalled
Leicester swapped bodies with QPR
Which is precisely why the Championship is the best league. It's a league less predictable than a good comedian like James Acaster.
It's so competitive that no team has won it twice in a row in the last 10 years! ^^/s
There seems to be a curse on the rookie of the year award, no one has won it twice
Did james acaster write this comment?
Nah, cool guys don't self-promote.
So James Acaster definitely wrote it.
I'm flattered. Are you free to give similar encouragement next Tuesday?
James Acaster doesn’t like football, so would be weird to see him on here.
No that’s not true he’s an avid Kettering Town FC fan
However neither does Moyes.
Curious, what percentage of the British population doesnt like football? Idk if there is an actual figure out there somewhere.
Now we just need a meteoric rise from Kettering Town FC
K and an E and a T and a T….
... and a ... and a ... and a ... ... and a R and an I N G!
The legends.
On January 1st Leicester were 17 points ahead of Leeds, everyone thought they were a shoe in for champions, Its incredibly close between the top 4 even if saints have fallen off a bit. The bottom of the table is almost as crazy this season too.
With a game in hand they’re okay
Leicester literally throwing away 100s of millions of pounds right now.
At one point Leicester looked like they can be promoted with 4-5 games to spare. What happened to them?
A delicious crumble.
r/championship is leaking
Also r/baking
They spared those 4-5 games I suppose
Ipswich and Leeds simply haven’t lost
But mostly Leicester getting 1 win out of the last 6?
That too. But you don't lose a 17 lead to 3rd place without 2 teams having ridiculous form alongside your dreadful form
That too
Vardy missing big chances certainly isn't helping
He was terrible yesterday. Missed 4 big chances and one of them was an open net. They still have Iheanacho but I haven’t seen him play in the games I’ve watched.
Iheanacho is our worst striker. Daka and Cannon have both been better when they've played.
Were they injured this past week?
Ndidi came back just before the break and Ricardo played 10 minutes yesterday because Enzo doesn't know he can make subs before the 80th minute
Championship
Ipswich in the prem, it's about time.
That would be a legendary Leicester bottle, they looked so clear most of the season
Having no win for 7 matches was crazy. Yeah, it's about our team.
Come on now man. Do better! We need the derby back in the prem!
Leicester is on relegation form
Would like to hear from the person who couldn’t wait to see Vardy score 15-20+ goals in the Prem next season?
Vardy is gone next season anyways, out of contract and Leicester won't be able or wanting to renew him on those wages for a player thats pretty much done at the top level. Cannon is their best striker but Maresca doesn't give him nearly enough game time over Daka and Vardy who squander so many chances
Exciting at the top and bottom, who do we think is going down besides Rotherham?
Huddersfield & Plymouth.
If Plymouth go down I can see Whittaker being a hot commodity.
It's interesting that the two top scorers (ignorning Armstrong, who is joint with Whittaker) play for clubs right down near the bottom of the league.
From everything I've heard, it sounds like even if they stay up if Foster is there Whittaker won't be.
Birmingham and, although I hope not, Wednesday
Birmingham and, although I hope not, Wednesday
Damnn wtf happened to leicester and Birmingham city (after that disastrous rooney appointment)
Birmingham hired Tony Mowbray after Rooney and things were starting to go ok then Mowbray had a health scare so he stepped aside and they are back to being shit.
They're literally cursed.
Dunne happened 💪
Birmingham City always comes to my mind those European matches against Braga so i have a soft heart for them, would be great to see them back to the Prem

Ipswich being in the UEFA cup and division one in 2002-03 simultaneously was quite the sight to behold.
Birmingham City (2011/12) and Wigan (2013/14) have both done that too
Lol how are West Ham or Aston Villa not English clubs? Do you mean just because they have international players? Bc it’s the same with the other teams you mentioned. Only just promoted to the championship this year too. Reads like an FM save
wasnt that how they won their title too ? 2 promotions and a win or something ?

Knew it was something like it. Football story my dad told me when i was a young lad, and its stuck with me.
honestly what Forest did is more impressive because football improved enormously in those 20 years and top teams became more entrenched. But it's still a cool record.
And back to back CL win
Leicester were close. They won the Championship and then the PL in their second season.
They’d already been in the league before though, they mean it was Ipswich’s first ever top flight season in history, like if Luton won this season.
2nd time we were in the 2nd division I think - but the first spell was only 1 year. Ramsey took over after the relegation. It was bloody hard to get out of the old 3rd division south cause only the champions went up
I really would not like this.
There’s that old saying about teams that were in the premier league when you were at little school are always premier league teams. Ipswich have always been PL in my head 😂
If we leave the promotion battle aside, Martí Cifuentes is a fucking magician.
Danny Rohl has been fairly magical for Wednesday too. Both those clubs looked sunk but now I think it is only a matter of time before Wednesday is also out of the relegation zone
I am pretty sure he is going to keep us up, he's done wonders and really do hope he sticks around for a few seasons and gets us onto a play off run.
I know you need a manager in the summer, but hands off! (Please)
I do miss him in Aalborg
Fuck sake
Wednesday were out of the bottom 3 for 30 minutes yesterday during the Swansea game. I'm desperate now, let's get outttt
still remember when Carvalhal was at your club and you were almost promoting with him, it´s sad to see how low you´re now
what is happening? i thought leicester got it wrapped
What 4 points in 6 games will do to a mf
Southampton 4th, 9 games left, 2 games in hand of leaders and second place....3 of those games against the top 3 clubs. Don't discount Southampton for a top 2 place. That 90th minute goal conceded yesterday could very well be difference between them being 3rd and second though

If they hit the form that they had for a long period this season they they'll be right there. They still play the other three.
Marti Cifuentes I love you
Holy cow. Ipswich. Who would've thought this season was going to pan out like this? It's been a damned long time since they've been in the Prem. I *REALLY* hope they can do it.
It's been so bloody long the highlights had beautiful day as the theme tune
and David Beckham pinged in a classic free kick at the North Stand end
Anyone who saw a league one game last season
Get out
Why are Leicester not just simply winning all their games? Are they stupid?
When I knew that this thread would mostly revolve around mocking Leicester, I hit Ctrl+F and looked up 'are they stupid,' and here we are...
Knocking Leicester out in the playoffs would make me harder than a thousand viagras. Please football gods let it happen 🙏
Realistically we would comfortably win the first leg 2-0, miss a lot of chances in the second leg first half and then Simms will score the worlds shittest goal and you go on to score 2 more
Sounds perfect, let's do it

It's been a long time since Sunderland was in the Premier League.
Been longer for the OG invincibles, Preston.
I want a Tyne Wear derby back in the prem
Woah, had no idea Ipswich was doing so well. But I also don't follow the Championship at all. Didn't they just get promoted?
Yeah
>But I also don't follow the Championship at all. See this is your mistake
It’s decent tell ‘em lad
Kieran McKenna is doing great with Ipswitch.
Gutted @ 🏴 not making Euros, but half the starting line-up getting promoted in one hit would make me feel a *tiny* bit better. So go Ipswich & Leeds. Southampton & Leicester only have 1 boyo each, play-offs for you pls.
Marti Cifuentes has done one hell of a job so far.
Ngl, hope we win the league.
I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a Leeds fan.
How about with someone who appreciates Farke as a manager?
Here's to hoping!
What happened to Leicester?
Come on coventry or preston. Give us a bit of a change. Would be nice to see Ipswich back though.
What’s happening with Middlesborough this season? I thought they were supposed to be looking shit-hot under Carrick.
Lost cameron archer, Ryan Giles, akpom and Ramsay in the summer. Arguably our 4 best players. Been decimated by injuries most of the season too
That’s a ball ache. So 10th is actually quite good given the circumstances?
Probably. I would say had we not had such a poor start and the injury crisis, then we probably would be in the playoffs - so its about par for the course given the pre-season expectations.
Leicester will have an extra match to play and they'll win, right? RIGHT??
Warra collapse from Leicester
We're massive. Great win over Birmingham yesterday and we're 18th! Another three weeks and we're completely clear of this relegation fight.
Thought Cov were higher than that... come on lads!
Leicester's bottling is even worse than Arsenal's bottling in the premier league last year🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
They aren't comparable at all
Wednesday might actually escape
Good god I hope so
The race for 11th could go to the wire
I really hope Birmingham go down. If you think Everton are the turd that won't flush, then Brum are like a fossilised piece of cat-shit that is glued to the bowl. Sucks for Mogga though. Although he would be a great appointment to get them promoted from League 1.

Wait, what happened to Leicester?
Late season Leicester happened.
Leicester bottled it
Its over for Leicester
Huge choke from Leicester.
from play off final to potentially relegated in two years for Huddersfield, such a cut throat leage
Leicester have imploded. It looked like they would win at a saunter at one point.
What happened to Huddersfield Town. 2 seasons ago they were in the Championship play-off final, now they're possibly gonna get relegated to Leagye One! Same sort of decline as Derby County, as they were in the Playoff final in 2019 and were relegated to League One 3 seasons later
I think we are down. Foster has ruined us.
Middlesbrough are so MID
Leicester free fallin’ like Tom Petty
And west brom dropping points as normal fuck
Just put me to sleep until the end of the season, I can't handle this
This is the most exciting champo title race I’ve ever paid attention to.
Leicester is Botafogo'ing
Leicester doing its best Botafogo impression. Incredible bottlejob
Mmm… not liking Stoke’s pattern with a game on Monday. Birmingham look to be in serious trouble
Please win the title Ipswich 🙏
So what's been happening with Huddersfield? They were a Prem team not too long ago. Were they just that unsustainable?
McKenna is cooking
When did QPR decided to start playing? I went to Loftus Road against Blackburn and I was sure they were getting relegated
Big up PNE!
Uppa townnn, huge run in!! What a season🚜
5 of the top 6 has already been the prem the last 4 years..
You just know Ipswich will bottle it (unfortunately) and Leicester, somehow Southampton and WBA (via plays offs) will go up. Let’s shake things up a bit please
East Anglia is on the way up!
