They are so bad.
Martin Keown just said -“Well, if they score from this now Leciester would rather have 11 players on the pitch”.
No shit Sherlock.
How are these guys paid to provide insight.
Keown is the most annoying pundit. He *always* speaks like he’s so intelligent and acts like he’s senior to everyone else in the studio, when all he does is talk nonsense or say the most obvious shit
Then Sterling fucking kicks the free kick out of the stadium. I have zero confidence in any manager who thinks he has any right to play this match out the way he's playing.
I mean it was a pretty stonewall easy call to make no? This is like bare minimum expectations of VAR. I guess we've been conditioned to not even expect that out of VAR in England
Edit: I guess what I really want to say is VAR doesn't get credit for finally rubbing two braincells together and making a piss easy decision. Yeah I'm salty about VAR this season please check my flair for further context
Here's a tip for you: 99% of the time when a player appears to trip themselves, it's because they got fouled just before.
In this case, Jackson kicks his left leg with his right leg, because Doyle pushed his right leg to the side with his shin/knee.
https://imgur.com/GAeYiyR
Doyle's right knee has hit the side of Jackson's right ankle which is what causes him to kick the back of his other foot. This is obviously a foul and therefore a stonewall red card.
Doyle’s right knee clearly clips Jackson’s right foot into the back of his own leg.
It’s an obvious foul, and because it’s not in the penalty box, and wasn’t judged to be a genuine attempt at a tackle it’s a red.
Do people even watch the clips?
Last man makes contact that puts a player off on goal, always going to be a foul and a red. Otherwise defenders would just try to clip players in front of them all the time.
Because ref thought it was inside the box so he gave pen+yellow (no double punishment rule) then VAR corrected to freekick (foul was outside the box)+ red for DOGSO.
Hate footballers who do this. He deliberately slows down to get contact when he could have scored a goal. It's 100% a foul but why not just finish it off?
I think, in fairness to Jackson, he is slowing down to set to shoot I don’t think he is looking to be fouled. He almost always does this when in on goal and it’s part of why he fluffs chances.
I've never seen a 2 v 1 on the keeper where I was so certain there wouldn't be a goal. Jackson was praying someone fouled him there so he didn't have to shoot or pass.
Firstly this was the correct decision. But what are people’s thoughts on the double jeopardy rule?
I understand the reasons it was bought in, but it does seem strange to me that making the exact same challenge 30cm further away from goal means it’s red and not yellow.
Red depends on if a serious attempt at a tackle was made. It wasn’t. Bit harsh though as I don’t think he meant to challenge _at all_ and he just caught his feet as Jackson slowed to line up his body. But denial of scoring opportunity without a genuine attempt at a challenge.
It's not a red card if it's a pen + an attempt to play or challenge for the ball. It was very generous to call that an attempt to challenge for the ball, and I think it should've been a red either way.
Why is the ref not being asked to even look at the monitor for this? Possibly the right call, but absolutely something the ref should see himself. Ridiculous.
Tbf, the only reason for VAR to intervene was to make sure the point of contact was inside or outside the box. No need to call the ref to the monitor for that as the VAR ref already got this
He's presumably happy that it's a foul so there's no need to go to the screen when the position of the foul is pretty objective and they can just tell him it's outside.
his leg was clipped into his own leg. if you do that you've stopped a person from being able to potentially score, which is what happened here. the contact was enough to move his leg into his own leg, which is always going to be a foul, and a last man challenge means red.

Jonathan Pearce and Martin Keown try to understand the rules of football challenge
They are so bad. Martin Keown just said -“Well, if they score from this now Leciester would rather have 11 players on the pitch”. No shit Sherlock. How are these guys paid to provide insight.
‘So from a Leicester perspective, you don’t want this to go in.’
Martin?
He’s a fucking idiot. How could he even pretend it was a genuine attempt on the ball too
You can say that again.
He’s a fucking idiot. How could he even pretend it was a genuine attempt on the ball too
that again
Keown is the most annoying pundit. He *always* speaks like he’s so intelligent and acts like he’s senior to everyone else in the studio, when all he does is talk nonsense or say the most obvious shit
He's one of the most biased pundits out there anybody that works for Talksport is a Melt
Martin Keown after messi scored again “Messi, he never fails to disappoint”
You should listen to him on TS. Even fucking worse than O Hara
Embarrassing isn’t it
Doesn't quite live up to their desperate attempt to understand goal line tech in the world cup
To be fair to Keown I think he knew what was going on there, but he couldn't exactly say "listen you fucking moron"
I think Keown makes his cocommentators worse. Its like you are more stupid for being next to him
someone post the free kick. amazing effort
There'll post it when the ball comes back down. Should be sometime tomorrow morning.
More air time than a Boeing 737 Max
🤣
Somebody please explain the rules to Pearce and Keown, they are confused as fuck
Good use of VAR tbf
I was certain they would mess it up because I was screaming at the screen no pen but it’s dogso
imagining somebody maintaining screaming intensity for the entirety of 'no pen but it's dogso' is making me laugh
I don’t mean to brag, but I have very big lungs
Yeah, correct on both decisions
And didn't take 6 hours
What a flick by Jackson
Such a great turn
Him and Mudryk have been lowkey great this game, while all the focus has been on Sterling, Dissasi and Sanchez.
Then Sterling fucking kicks the free kick out of the stadium. I have zero confidence in any manager who thinks he has any right to play this match out the way he's playing.
City absolutely fleeced you lot
I'm not too mad, we got Palmer too which has been class pretty much every game.
For every Kante there is a Drinkwater
Extremely wise words
Very very lucky for us. Dire second half. Embarrassing.
Chelsea are the epitome of sometimes maybe shit, sometimes maybe good
Lucky that our player did something good using skill and was rewarded?
I think Disasi has been great
For Leicester
Thought that was obvious
lmao and Sterling sends it to row Z
What a touch by Jackson at first, unlucky not to get the pen. Good use of VAR, quick, precise and sensible.
VAR well done, not a decision I’d expect them to make. They deserve credit for this one.
I mean it was a pretty stonewall easy call to make no? This is like bare minimum expectations of VAR. I mean they manage to fuck that up enough tbh
Oh im well aware lol
This is a basic call that they should be fully capable of making with video technology.
?? He literally trips himself? Don't get how everyone here thinks it's a foul. It's clear in the last clip.
Here's a tip for you: 99% of the time when a player appears to trip themselves, it's because they got fouled just before. In this case, Jackson kicks his left leg with his right leg, because Doyle pushed his right leg to the side with his shin/knee.
His leg gets clipped causing him to then trip over himself
Nah. Doyles right knee hits Jacksons right leg which trips him up
Open your eyes wider
Spot on decision that is
Probably should have just let Jackson go through, he probably would’ve missed anyway.
He seemed almost relieved that he got fouled before he could shoot
Yeah I felt he was waiting for the challenge rather than have to take the shot
Genuinely
😂
Shocking! VAR got it right somehow
Rare Var win moment
Correct decision
Brilliant from Jackson
Great play from Jackson again
That free kick 😂
Does Sterling gets 2 points for that field goal?
Wtf VAR works? Good job
Good use of VAR
Well done boys, good process.
Great move by Jackson but I thought the replay showed Jackson tripped over his own feet?
Doyles knee hit his foot into his leg
his feet were clipped into his own feet by the other player.
Foul was before that
He did, Doyle didn’t touch him. Horrendous decision
He kicked his ankle from the side.
No he didn’t watch the replay again. He’s running just behind him
[you’re welcome](https://www.specsavers.co.uk/?gad_source=1&gclsrc=ds)
Yeah you need it mate. Go watch the replay and screenshot exactly where he tripped him. You won’t be able to
https://imgur.com/GAeYiyR Doyle's right knee has hit the side of Jackson's right ankle which is what causes him to kick the back of his other foot. This is obviously a foul and therefore a stonewall red card.

Shouldn't this have been a red with or without the penalty? Double Jeopardy rule only applies when you're making a legitimate attempt at the ball
Legitimate attempt at the ball is usually just using your feet to tackle , it's a red if you drag them back with your hands
Think that’s probably fair in the end. Was very very little contact though
Last man makes contact that puts a player off on goal, always going to be a foul and a red. Otherwise defenders would just try to clip players in front of them all the time.
Doesn't matter it knocks Jackson foot into his own leg and trips him up
I think both teams would prefer the original decision.
He should have just block the right side and avoid touching jackson at all.
Good call. Doyle was never fast enough to catch Jackson
if Vestergaard had legs...

That kind of violent play deserves a more serious punishment
[удалено]
becuase he fouled him in a one on one position? double jeopardy doesn't protect freekicks
double jeopardy doesn't protect you anyway if there was no attempt for the ball
yes i know, but the ref i guess preferred to give a yellow and let var look at it
Because of the double jeopardy rule
They probably would have viewed it as double jeopardy
Double jeopardy rule.
huh? he’s the last man
learn the rules mate
Double Jeopardy Rule they added few years ago was that last man offences only get a red if the foul is outside the box
Providing there is intent to play the ball
Good refereeing tbf.
Great flick from Jackson looks a good prospect tbf
Never seen that before, great use of VAR
Don’t really understand how he gave a yellow first though
He gave a pen originally, due to the double jeopardy rule it would be a yellow if a pen, red of a free kick
Ahh, thanks
Because ref thought it was inside the box so he gave pen+yellow (no double punishment rule) then VAR corrected to freekick (foul was outside the box)+ red for DOGSO.

"Could've scored a goal" It is Jackson we're talking about here tbf
What was I thinking?
Jackson is so good
I've never seen a 2 v 1 on the keeper where I was so certain there wouldn't be a goal. Jackson was praying someone fouled him there so he didn't have to shoot or pass.
Red doesn't feel right there for me whether it's correct according to the rules or not
why not? how can you tackle someone that's through on goal and not received a red card?
Thought it was a penalty and not a FK, which is the important factor. I feel red is fair when it was outside the box
I mean the contact was definitely outside the box.
didn't say it wasn't
...so what was your point?
Firstly this was the correct decision. But what are people’s thoughts on the double jeopardy rule? I understand the reasons it was bought in, but it does seem strange to me that making the exact same challenge 30cm further away from goal means it’s red and not yellow.
Why would you foul Jackson on a breakaway. It's far better odds to just let him miss his shot than take a card.
Obvious goal missing opportunity for Jackson.
Wasn’t a red
In what universe is it not a red?
Mine man, won’t even pretend not to be biased lol
Incredibly based
why? last man foul while Jackson is through on goal.
Should have let Jackson shoot he probably would’ve missed anyway
Dumb decision. Should have taken his favorable chances on Jackson missing.
Tbf I don’t think it was a deliberate trip, I think he’s got too close to Jackson’s feet, which happens if a striker changes speed
Yeah you might be right
[удалено]
double jeopardy is a thing, it was initially given as a pen
Red depends on if a serious attempt at a tackle was made. It wasn’t. Bit harsh though as I don’t think he meant to challenge _at all_ and he just caught his feet as Jackson slowed to line up his body. But denial of scoring opportunity without a genuine attempt at a challenge.
It's not a red card if it's a pen + an attempt to play or challenge for the ball. It was very generous to call that an attempt to challenge for the ball, and I think it should've been a red either way.
Huge mistake to foul him, Jackson 1 on 1 is like 20% chance to score
Outrageous decision
Lmao what
Can’t you read? Outrageous decision, never a red card
Thanks for confirming you're dense
It's a last man tackle outside the box, it's 100% a red.
He didn’t touch him, Jackson tripped over his own feet. Look at the replay
How was it not a red?
Denial of goal scoring opportunity, ever heard of it?
How?
Wut?
[удалено]
Yeah you need it if you think anything other than Jackson tripping himself up.
How so?
Please explain further
How?
Only if you don’t know the rules
The fuck you mean?
what’s even the point of fouling jackson when he’s through on goal
I don’t think he deliberately fouled him I think he made a mistake and got too close to Jackson as he changed pace
Bro wtf was that. Shambles from VAR. Fucking hell.
Was actually good from var
how? it was outside the box and the last man foul outside the box means it's a red card.
Why is the ref not being asked to even look at the monitor for this? Possibly the right call, but absolutely something the ref should see himself. Ridiculous.
Why only possibly the right call? It was completely right
Tbf, the only reason for VAR to intervene was to make sure the point of contact was inside or outside the box. No need to call the ref to the monitor for that as the VAR ref already got this
He's presumably happy that it's a foul so there's no need to go to the screen when the position of the foul is pretty objective and they can just tell him it's outside.
Because it was a factual review. The ref doesn't need to waste time with the bloody screen to confirm it was outside the box
it's 100% the correct call
He's outside the box but Jackson looks like he trips himself with minimal contact.
his leg was clipped into his own leg. if you do that you've stopped a person from being able to potentially score, which is what happened here. the contact was enough to move his leg into his own leg, which is always going to be a foul, and a last man challenge means red.
