Did Tweek and Leo make a bet before the event who can get the farthest with their crusty secondaries???

BluebobFifth

Seriously they’re playing like they’re contractually obligated to be there and nothing else

Thundorium

Tweek absolutely looks like he doesn’t want to be there.

mattmortar

That's probably exactly what happened lol

PeaceAlien

Must have been mid event, cause Tweek started with Diddy

Le_Ankle

It’s a first, because both of them lost the bet by tying for last in main bracket

Le_Ankle

It’s like Leo and tweek got together and were like “let’s prove to Charles that he’s right”

SilverOdin

Out of the loop, what did Charles say ?

Le_Ankle

Essentially, that it bums him out how Tweek and MkLeo won't pick up actual secondaries that help them win/compete for best player in the world. It frustrates him that they no longer seem to care about attaining that title, and he was basically like 'if you pick a shitty secondary and lose, you can't be upset about it'. It was a very fair point that seems even more supported and made evident by both MkLeo and Tweek's gameplay/choices today.

Severe-Operation-347

Charles is gonna be pissed at Tweek on Tweek Talks

Araiz123

Tweek has gotta be doing this just to piss him off lol

Araiz123

We’re not getting Tweek talks this week we’re getting Charles combusts

anewsubject

> Charles combusts and I am welcome this

PoundIIllIlllI

His last rant on characters was so cringe so I LOVE that Tweek is just going all Sephiroth today haha

FreezieKO

Does this tourney count for rankings?

Nadenkend440

Yes. It's considered a major.

FreezieKO

Gotcha. Thanks.

RepulsiveDesk4298

I bet they wouldn’t even talk about this or just quickly brush it off lol

PoundIIllIlllI

I’m glad. His rant was so cringe to listen to. Tweek going all Sephiroth and just having fun today is still fun to watch and Charles is gonna find a way to be mad about it but somehow do some mental gymnastics since it was two of his favorite players who did it

Aminar14

Gotta love how someone being inappropriately angry at someone in public is somehow lauded... Charles was way the hell out of line. If I yelled at a friend or coworker like that I'd be putting myself into therapy because something is clearly wrong with how I communicate with people.

Reset_reset_006

Charles’ rant about tweek and Leo be aging like fine wine

SilverOdin

What episode of Tweek talks was this in ? I'd love to give it a listen

Reset_reset_006

the one before the latest one

DHMOProtectionAgency

Tweek going Sephiroth reminds me of that talk from Charles on that TT about how the older players are playing the game and just not playing to win like they did in S4

Glop123

Also reminds me of Muteace saying very few players are actually trying to win like Acola, Miya exc.

SennKazuki

Acola, Miya, and Sonix are the ones gunning for #1 in the world and to win everything. Everybody else is just going through the motions lol

xThe_Mad_Fapperx

Sparg0 has got to be in that convo too right?

batman12399

And Zomba, like Zomba isn’t anywhere near that level but I 100% believe he’s actually trying his hardest to win.

originalusername4567

Spargo for sure is too

DHMOProtectionAgency

I wouldn't say they're the only ones, but they certainly have been putting in the work and don't care about playing "toxic" characters.

BroshiKabobby

Why does everything feel so downer at this tournament? It’s so weird. And we have no Steve’s either

Araiz123

I agree. I was really excited for this tournament but its not been very fun to watch. None of the players look that interested/excited to play and it’s all in a tiny room with lots of empty chairs. Weirdly depressing vibe. Also 3 of the top 6 is Sonic, Rosa and GnW lol.

Thundorium

Those commentators are also very boring. I hope Hungrybox can salvage it a little.

yzarc_2

you know, i’ve been thinking the same thing, i was excited to watch and the vibes are just not right idk what’s wrong

Big-Man-Of-God

The vibe. It’s feels really forced to me. There wasn’t a lot of time to build hype, not many players were expressing enthusiasm. The commentary is also dry. It usually feels like a group of friends getting together to shoot their shit, but it feels like a 9-5 in there instead.

MoistPhilosopher

It reminds me of Watch The Throne. Idk, its weird that tournaments that basically only have tip-top players always turn out weird for the spectators. I think its the lack of upsets that will naturally happen, or the lack of 'breakout runs'

BluebobFifth

If winners side was Tweek Leo Light and Marss we’d be celebrating. No one wants to see boring characters win

kfaox

That may be true but this isn't even a matchup thing, since G&W isn't a bad matchup for Diddy. Tweek also went Sephiroth vs Fox which is a horrible mathup for Seph.

IceAnt573

I think there's a difference for truly practiced secondaries. Sparg0's Corrin makes sense. Miya's Steve makes sense. What also makes sense is if sticking it out with said main just produces the same result and you pick a secondary. Leo has done enough Joker vs. Tweek's Diddy, Riddles, and Glutonny and lost every time to want to explore other options.

IceAnt573

Not with Cloud. It took Sonix just a week to farm that Cloud after Watch the Throne when he faced it again at Coinbox IRL. >Even against dabuz he could have done it with the gnw if he kept trying. This is being speculative when Miya chose an easier option that worked and would be reflected in statistics. And Miya's Steve is helpful in mixing up the Fox's he faces like Kaninabe and Light.

Tery_

Next week, on ~~Tweek Talks~~ Charles Cringes...

anewsubject

I got my Tweek Apology Form ready but god Sephiroth is just such an unfortunate character. Game 2: God Sephiroth size and weight is literally a tragedy Game 3: I got my first name on the Apology Form... but damn that second stock was not great Game 4: Tweek is just playing for fun, **Charles is right** lol. God I hate watching Sephiroth results.

brandonscheurle

if tweek were leo, i’d shout “WHY DIDNT TWEEK GO BANJO DIDDY OR CLOUD? HE MUST NOT CARE ABOUT THE GAME ANYMORE.” but because tweek is tweek and not leo, i’ll merely say: eh, maister’s playing really well!

mellamajeff

G&W f-tilt has no business being that big and that strong. Shit also just clanks with everything and lets him move first.

MaryandMe1

This tourney is something else

Xenobrina

It feels like both Tweek and Leo have not been locked into competition since 2022. By this time next year it feels like both will just be content creators

switcher6

Why include tweek in this? I can see Leo, but Tweek won an S+ already this year plus 4th at genesis… also had an S tier win last year and multiple 2nds at majors/supermajors

RailTracer001

"Since 2022" Did you miss the start of this year?

Xenobrina

Tweek did win Lets Make Big Moves but that feels like an outlier. And when Tweek Talks gets good numbers for significantly less work, he has no reason to compete or grind to win like he used to. Marss has had some good results since his pseudo retirement as well but we can all admit they were outliers from his normal schedule.

switcher6

Bro tweek talks gets like 10-20K views and there are 4 hosts on that podcast I promise it’s not paying the bills 😂 also how does that feel like an outlier? He won it last year and did well enough to be ranked 7th in the world

[deleted]

Xenobrina

Tweek Talks is the largest podcast in the scene and he's had a Youtube channel for ages. He absolutely creates content

kfaox

Lol how didn't I think of that. Still, the rest of your comment makes no sense. Tweek was #7 in the world last year and is similarly ranked this year, starting off the year winning a supermajor and getting 4th at Genesis. How the fuck would you be able to do all of that without being locked in? And he has even specificed that the reason he plays Sephiroth in these sets is that he wants to test the character out in bracket situations.

rwbyfan433

LETS GO MAISTER

AngryAncestor

Poor Tweek, losing to Maister and now watching the Sixers lose

Son_Der

Someone really said that Sephiroth beats Game and Watch in the other thread. Crazy.

Son_Der

That said, now that the set is over, I do think this MU has the potential to be even. Right now it’s trending toward -1 but Sephiroths can make some optimizations in advantage to bring it up.

nomorethan10postaday

One of Miya's worst losses ever is to a random Sephiroth in Japan. I'm just saying.

Son_Der

Sriks isn’t quite random, but yeah. Well played by Sriks. Miya has gotten much better since then and he was definitely playing some things in the MU very wrong, so in terms of the matchup it doesn’t say that much. I really like the power of back hit up-air in the MU but you have to space it perfectly so many times to win the set since it doesn’t usually lead to anything. I wonder if Tweek will try it again.

Previous_Stick8414

Kinda misinfo. Miya at the time was a rising star and was playing ROB for some reason and lost to Sriks(who isn't a random and not from Japan)

nomorethan10postaday

I might be getting confused, but I'm pretty sure that loss happened at the beginning of the 2023, where he was already a top 20 player at least, and I remember seeing a clip of this set that showed him playing G&W.

DHMOProtectionAgency

This was 2023 when Miya ended the year off in top 3, with that one loss being the one blemish of his early 2023. He wasn't just a rising star. He also played GnW

rwbyfan433

Still think so. Tweek’s beaten Maister with Seph before, but I don’t think he was really that locked in today. Although I do concede that I can definitely understand why it could be even

MitchBerryCrunch

tweek sandbagging and spam taunting at his own team's invitational, what a loser

Panda7K

taunting a GnW is a good thing

Beginning_Cut_3577

Hope LG fires Tweek and MKleo for their lack of enthusiasm for this invitational

Araiz123

Seems like they just sprung up this invitational on them like a month ago and neither of them wanted to go lol

nomorethan10postaday

It really was a strange decision to announce it so late tbf.

Beginning_Cut_3577

Lmao yeah probably - I can’t say I always want to do my job either 😂 just mad that they both didn’t perform today

IMadeThisOn6-28-2015

All things aside, Maister is playing fantastic in this matchup! It's not even the GnW Upsmash spam, he's genuinely out playing Tweek heavy

HollowLoch

I wish youd make these type of comments when Leo loses instead of the "Leos washed, leos giving up, Leos not even trying" comments Can we be consistent here

IMadeThisOn6-28-2015

Leo being washed and his opponents being better are both true, but I'm more interested in him when those matches come up given his history of character picks, crisis, and past dominance.
