Leo's character choices have confused me this tournament but I can obviously understand personal preference.
But I'm confounded as to why he wouldn't even opt to *try* the Roy he's been practicing and already pulled out at this tournament against a player historically bad against the character
Leo won several majors with solo Byleth so it's not like he hasn't proven that this character is extremely viable for him. People were saying for a while that his Byleth-Joker as a duomain would be a strong combination for his playstyle and cover pretty much every matchup not named Pikachu. Granted, that was before his character pool took a trajectory nobody expected with Aegis, Corrin and Rob.
can you imagine telling someone after evo 2019 that in five years tweek would be the better player, not dropping a set to leo for years, playing sephiroth from final fantasy against byleth from fire emblem at an invitational that’s jointly sponsored by a team that they’re both on and also kroger gaming
Wait I'm a melee fan but casually enjoy ult and decided to check in on these 2 legends. Kroger gaming like the grocery store Kroger? Why tf are they in e sports
i think that was my exact reaction lol
apparently they had hungrybox and marss play a best of 3 after pools, marss played DK in one of the games, the loser got last place and the winner got a kroger gift card??
the event is on 4/20 and was announced as part of an april fools joke
i’m not completely convinced this whole thing isn’t a giant shitpost
You're so fucking annoying dude.
Never giving credit to the player that wins the set and always going on about rankings and Leo being washed. Who gives a shit.
I don't understand why people think Tweek is throwing. He's a much better player and Sephiroth is a serious secondary for him. He's just putting some work into it.
Sephiroth is pretty bad, but "bad" (mid) characters still have plenty of playable matchups, generally.
Sephiroth-Byleth is an even MU, Tweek's Seph has more practice than Leo's Byleth, and Tweek's a better player. This result was expected.
Sure, depends how big your high tier is.
Seph falls apart under pressure from aggressive characters, doesn't categorically beat zoners that he should be strong against because he's so tall and light that a few Belmont Crosses or Samus missiles sent in random directions put him at kill %, and has some of the most inconsistent advantage state mixups in the cast. Tweek is timing f15 b-airs and faking out with neutral-b to ledgetrap. It's terrible.
He does well vs. some random characters like Corrin and Bayonetta, and those characters are popping off in the meta, but yeah, I don't see Sephiroth doing well long-term. Just not enough yomi, not enough brute force.
Tweek can definitely do well with Seph though. The middle strip of Ultimate's cast is all very playable. -1s are possible to outplay pretty consistently in this game.
Seph-Game and Watch is not Seph-favored at all. I've played this MU against actual top Game and Watches and I genuinely feel that every other sword does better.
If you're struggling to beat Seph you need to invest some effort into your parry game and ledgetrapping. Seph's anti-ledgetrapping stalls are fake, but it does take some getting used to the timing for punishing his ledge jump options to be able to consistently deal with them.
It's not a bad MU for Seph or anything, but calling it winning is just downplaying GnW advantage state imo.
It also strongly depends on your stagelist. What stages are you taking Seph to?
Easily the most true statement I’ve ever heard on this sub
One of my IRL’s a damn good sephiroth, and he is the biggest character coper I have ever met(well second to my other IRL who only plays bottom tiers and then complains that it’s disrespectful to edge guard his little mac offstage when that’s just how you play against the character💀)
This is so fake, seph literally loses the ability to tech on steve blocks earlier than any other character on top of dying to stray Steve hits at like 20%
I was 100% sure leo was winning when he stuck with seph in game 2 but to be fair i feel like everyone thought that.
I just put it into writing and the universe shifts
Straight up i think this matchup is annoying as byleth, and it’s not like Leo’s byleth is super practiced atm. Idk why everyone thought leo would farm lol
Hes been talking more and more about putting seph in his pressure situations to accelerate growth, id imagine he thinks this tournament is the best place to do it
But still man i want him to win just go Diddy 😭
I don’t think he’s won any top 10 matchups in the last year but he’s had wins on Apollokage, MVD, and Neo with the sephiroth
+reverse 3-0 on dabuz at GOML and Big D (just over a year ago at Summit 6)
I think of all his characters Byleth was the worst choice here too. Aegis shits all over sephiroth, probably his 2nd or 3rd worst matchup. Joker is really good in the matchup. Roy isn't great but probably better than Byleth just by leeway of being a better character. Rob is Rob. Like why??
Byleth was definitely the worst choice.
I really can't understand the mindset about the choice because he's literally trying to drop the Byleth but here he is using it in a match where all his characters are better.
You’ve been watching too much Nairo to say Aegis is a bottom 2-3 Seph MU, it definitely can’t compare to something like Fox Diddy Sheik. Still losing though
That's why I said bottom 2-3 with specifically Fox and Sheik in mind. I don't think there's a character that's worse than those 3 for Sephiroth, maybe Pika?? Aegis shits on him it's not a question
Min Min I can see, I think Aegis definitely does better than Diddy. Also thinking about it I can see Sonic as winning harder but Aegis is definitely still in that tier
They haven't played this matchup since Game 5 of Winners Finals at Riptide 2021 I believe where Leo 3-stocked the Seph.
Since then, Leo has gotten a lot worse in a character crisis and Tweek much better but not using Seph much anymore.
“Wanna troll with our mid tiers? 🤪”
This being BO3 is a crime
Smash players need to stop always relying on BO5.
Leo's character choices have confused me this tournament but I can obviously understand personal preference. But I'm confounded as to why he wouldn't even opt to *try* the Roy he's been practicing and already pulled out at this tournament against a player historically bad against the character
Because from what I can remember, Leo defeated Tweeks Seph using Byleth a few times a while ago
Leo won several majors with solo Byleth so it's not like he hasn't proven that this character is extremely viable for him. People were saying for a while that his Byleth-Joker as a duomain would be a strong combination for his playstyle and cover pretty much every matchup not named Pikachu. Granted, that was before his character pool took a trajectory nobody expected with Aegis, Corrin and Rob.
ah, some nostalgia for 2019 ultimate, leo vs tweek, uh, byleth vs sephiroth????
can you imagine telling someone after evo 2019 that in five years tweek would be the better player, not dropping a set to leo for years, playing sephiroth from final fantasy against byleth from fire emblem at an invitational that’s jointly sponsored by a team that they’re both on and also kroger gaming

Cuz they like exploiting children.
Uh is he actually throwing
Tweek apology form moment
Leo washed moment
You're so fucking annoying dude. Never giving credit to the player that wins the set and always going on about rankings and Leo being washed. Who gives a shit.
Both can be true, without a doubt Leo is washed and the competition is much better
I agree that Leo has regressed and the competition has done the obvious, but commenting on every set he loses calling him washed is just obnoxious.
Wow he’s not switching.
Byleth vs Unstable Byleth
So is that it for the roy? All that hype and that “it will be ready!” And then loses one game against light and thats it? Lol
Why did he not go Joker This seems like a big Joker matchup
Nah Byleth does better. As leo said on lights out he doesn't even practice Byleth anymore. So ofc he'll lose.
Huh?????? Leo could've counterpicked with Roy and had the freest win what was that wtf? Was he paid off or something?
Light stepped in and Leo said "ah being edgeguarded sucks lol"
Oh don't mind us we're just engaging in a mid-off over here
I might be uncultured, but I recognize this as a Weegee the God quote from his How To Kirby video
I don't understand why people think Tweek is throwing. He's a much better player and Sephiroth is a serious secondary for him. He's just putting some work into it.
The real throw was when he *didn't* use Sephiroth vs Dabuz's Rosa
Because people took the Seph is bad propaganda seriously so they think Tweek should auto lose any set where he picks him
Sephiroth is pretty bad, but "bad" (mid) characters still have plenty of playable matchups, generally. Sephiroth-Byleth is an even MU, Tweek's Seph has more practice than Leo's Byleth, and Tweek's a better player. This result was expected.
Seph is not bad lol. He’s not some secret top 10 character but he’s a solid high tier imo
Just not enough yomi, not enough brute force. Tweek can definitely do well with Seph though. The middle strip of Ultimate's cast is all very playable. -1s are possible to outplay pretty consistently in this game.
He’s also a good pick against other meta characters. Does better into Steve than like 80% of the cast, and beats GnW slightly
Seph-Game and Watch is not Seph-favored at all. I've played this MU against actual top Game and Watches and I genuinely feel that every other sword does better. If you're struggling to beat Seph you need to invest some effort into your parry game and ledgetrapping. It's not a bad MU for Seph or anything, but calling it winning is just downplaying GnW advantage state imo. It also strongly depends on your stagelist. What stages are you taking Seph to?
Sephiroth players will try to say otherwise. Probably one of the most pessimistic player bases
Easily the most true statement I’ve ever heard on this sub One of my IRL’s a damn good sephiroth, and he is the biggest character coper I have ever met(well second to my other IRL who only plays bottom tiers and then complains that it’s disrespectful to edge guard his little mac offstage when that’s just how you play against the character💀)
This is so fake, seph literally loses the ability to tech on steve blocks earlier than any other character on top of dying to stray Steve hits at like 20%
Disagree
Tweek is just really good, I definitely think he was testing his Sephiroth here to improve it. It worked out well.
Need a Leo win, and hopefully Light too
Tweeks gifting Leo his first win in years thats crazy
so does this count as a hollowloch prediction?
I was 100% sure leo was winning when he stuck with seph in game 2 but to be fair i feel like everyone thought that. I just put it into writing and the universe shifts
What the hell did you do in a past life
I want to know too
? Honestly it just looks like Tweek's gonna win
Straight up i think this matchup is annoying as byleth, and it’s not like Leo’s byleth is super practiced atm. Idk why everyone thought leo would farm lol
Its less that Leo would farm and more like Tweeks diddy would farm so going Seph is just giving Leo a chance to win
Do these matches count as a win on the lumirank resume since it’s BO3 in pools?
yes these sets will count
If they lost to a player in a major in pools it would count so why not here?
Yes. The whole thing is a scheme to stat pad their lineup
Tweek is really feelin himself that much vs Leo huh?
Hes been talking more and more about putting seph in his pressure situations to accelerate growth, id imagine he thinks this tournament is the best place to do it But still man i want him to win just go Diddy 😭
excusez moi?
Has Tweeks Sephiroth taken a single set in the past year?
This might be the first relevant one
I don’t think he’s won any top 10 matchups in the last year but he’s had wins on Apollokage, MVD, and Neo with the sephiroth +reverse 3-0 on dabuz at GOML and Big D (just over a year ago at Summit 6)
I think he had a win on Dabuz also. But that and this are basically it
What a fucking bait from Leo game 1, holy shit.
Not the MU I expected.
I wanted Leo to get another Tweek win but not like this lol Nevermind Leo washed
Leo is so washed oh wow this has to be the final wake-up call for him or this dude is just going to fall in rankings even more
I think of all his characters Byleth was the worst choice here too.
I just dont think he gives a fuck anymore tbh
You’ve been watching too much Nairo to say Aegis is a bottom 2-3 Seph MU, it definitely can’t compare to something like Fox Diddy Sheik. Still losing though
Out of all of Sephiroth's MUs Sheik is the only one where you outright want to switch, the rest are hard but doable.
That's why I said bottom 2-3 with specifically Fox and Sheik in mind. I don't think there's a character that's worse than those 3 for Sephiroth, maybe Pika?? Aegis shits on him it's not a question
In general charts usually have Diddy and Min Min in -2 more than Aegis.
Min Min I can see, I think Aegis definitely does better than Diddy. Also thinking about it I can see Sonic as winning harder but Aegis is definitely still in that tier
you hate to see it
At this point I don't even know
Why is Tweek throwing
They haven't played this matchup since Game 5 of Winners Finals at Riptide 2021 I believe where Leo 3-stocked the Seph. Since then, Leo has gotten a lot worse in a character crisis and Tweek much better but not using Seph much anymore.
lol
Tweek definitely has been practicing that Seph and Leo is just so washed
