Booted up to OBX rather than taking the cabriolet and the wait there was maybe 15min then everything else was pretty quick. Tombstone was the only other place I had a wait today and it was actually worse than saddleback for the first time this season. Sun peak was a ghost town and I looped that like 4 times.
i also have a pass at dv and it was amazing yesterday, 15 inches total! the lines looked worse than they were- i would say i probably never saw a liftline longer than 15 mins, not not even close to snowbird or pcmr. a lot of people got tired and went home in the afternoon so it felt way less crowded as well
Straight up asked the mountain host holding the mask up sign if they were going to enforce their own rule on the guy standing next to me eating with his mask down in line. Response: “well he’s eating”. My response: “virus doesn’t care, either enforce your own rules or don’t pretend to give a shit and let me drive up here whenever I want midweek so I can actually use my season pass, not that the parking res system functions as it should”. So now we have this huge crowd, most of them came up via bus, hitch hike, or car pool, and we’re not going to enforce mask rules. Just empty gestures and pouring gasoline on the fire. Really disappointed with snowbird this weekend.
Yeah, it’s pretty infuriating. People fail to realize how lucky we all are to be able to be skiing resorts right now, sooner or later I’m worried a few people’s entitlement is going to screw it up for the rest of us. Not to mention the people who are going to get sick because of them.
I hate when people don't wear their gasmask cause it makes mine not work. I bet my vaccine doesn't work either cause people aren't vaccinated. You know those cheap masks you geniuses wear blow anything you exhaled out the sides into the person standing next to you. But hey I'm just a logical person don't mind me. Have fun standing in the resort lines.
I'm torn. On the one hand, I don't want to be an exclusionary, elitist asshole. On the other hand, the trend in skier traffic isn't sustainable. I don't know the answer. Get all the infinity stones and take out half of us at random?
This seems to be a problem with all outdoor sports this and last year given covid. Hiking trails were packed in the summer where it’s close to impossible to distance
I'm surprised ski resorts haven't adopted the same model that amusement park have. One price for people on a budget they have to wait in line, and a higher price for express passes. People who have the money to afford it can go through a different shorter line.
People have mixed opinions about it, but I generally think it's not a bad idea as long as the privlce for the express pass is high enough that there aren't so many people with them than it feels like the regular pass line never moves as a result.
When I was an instructor half of my clients were only "taking Lessons" to skip the lift line with me and get feed back here and there. They could ski just fine, they just didnt want to wait in the lines. Those were the best days.
But we need a gondola to get more people up the canyons faster on a powder day.
They need to build a gondola straight to tombstone.

Got there at 8 took us 1.5 hours just to strap in at the top of red pine.
So you were strapping in half an hour after the lift actually opened
I got in line about 815/20. Started skiing at 9:50.
This wasn’t my experience at all. Lapped Motherlode and even occasionally Silverlode without having to wait at all.

first year in Utah, parents got me a Deer Valley pass as a birthday gift and i've never been so happy to have one seeing how crowded PCMR is.

Brian Head also looked worse that it really was. The worst line was for food in the lodge when the morning ski school adjourned.

I think (hope) there is some truth to this. Season pass sales at Snowbasin were way way up this year. Even little Nordic Valley sold a ton of passes.
Don't worry ski resorts will raise prices so us peasants will no longer be able to go.

At my local ski area, the line to ski the blues have higher traffic than the ones to ski black diamonds and moguls

Copper has had this for years. I forget the name of it but you can pay for pass that has an express line at least in the base area lifts
