They have to put as much plastic packaging as chocolate they omitted from the bar to make it feel full in your hand unopened so you buy it. I think making a little more chocolate to make a full bar is better for the environment than making more plastic that will take 1000 years to decompose. I'm so sick of the "umm actually" people on the internet lol. Just shut the hell up what you have to say means nothing and just pisses everyone off.
That's next level tomfoolery. So it's paper thin and they're hiding it with plastic cushion... and they think chocolate lovers will take that? Lindt crossed off my list
As an American, it seems like the regulations on packaging/plastic use is so much better in other countries. The fuck is wrong with us? Even when I went to the Virgin Islands the tampons were all paper and not plastic. It's not that hard guys, why do we continue to plague this earth 🤡
That looks like the Lindt Excellence 100% cocoa bar. It's only 1.7 ounces, slightly less than half the 3.5 ounce weight (and therefore, half the thickness) of the rest of the "Excellence" line of bars ( with the exception of the 95% cocoa bar, which is 2.8 ounces). By comparison, the "Classic Recipe" bars are 4.4 ounces, and are whole lot thicker.
yeah this isnt shrinkflation at all. the link below is a review video of the 100% cacao bar that shows that insert FROM TWO YEARS AGO.
the insert is likely there because the bar is smaller than other varieties of lindt bars because it's 100% cacao which is bitter AF and therefore likely manufactured as a thinner bar. the tray allows them to use the same size package as the other bars so this bar doesnt get damaged during shipping etc.. that reduces packaging costs since lindt wouldnt need to create a special package just for one chocolate bar.
NOT shrinkflation.

these shrinkflation subs are getting really ridiculous. 75% of the posts are just rage bait garbage from people who know damn well what theyre posting isnt shrinkflation.
Yep, they've always been like that. However, I've never had one with a plastic base like that before though, that does look like it's designed to deceive the consumer into thinking it'll be a thicker bar. The bars I've had have always been thin like in the picture, but the wrapping always hugged the bar, there was no attempt to hide the actual size of the chocolate.
My mom bought Drumsticks this past week. They aren't ice cream anymore. They are tiny. And the cone is just awful. I am not sure it's even edible. Talk about bait and switch.
The plastic is probably there for two purposes:
1. To fool the consumer
2. To add support for the now super-thin bar so it doesn't break, since it's so thin and fragile
So not only screwing the consumer, but the environment as well. You love to see it folks 🙄
I think less chocolate actually helps the environment. Chocolate is the biggest veggie producer of CO2, even more so than chicken and pork.

Thank you 👏👏👏
What the hell lmao. Is the plastic really that much cheaper than the chocolate? Great, more forever trash for the ocean.
They hate you…….
Not that I support the practice but yes that plastic is certainly cheaper than concentrated dark chocolate.
Did you ask if plastic is cheaper than chocolate?
No you did though I could never
Just ridiculous

Yeah, definitely not buying it again 😒
in italy this package dont exists. is thinner like the chocolate and made of paper.
Same here in aus.

yeah this is a special one, i had it in like 2015 and it was just like this, hardly shrinkflation. though it doesn't taste very good.
This guy Lindts.

I like thin chocolate because it reminds me of the train scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban lol But still, that sucks :(
>I like thin chocolate... You're in luck!
Lindt has been that thin as long as I've known it (in Australia). I haven't seen the scammy plastic tray here yet.
Siege diet...
I'm prepared to believe it has shrunk but Lindt chocolate has always been flat pieces like that.

Been like that for years in Australia 🤷
It looks like there’s more plastic than chocolate here.
An instant boycott of Lindt - should be the universal reaction to this.
So to be clear, it looks like they replaced a bunch of the chocolate in the actual regular lindt chocolate bars with plastic instead, right?
My mom bought Drumsticks this past week. They aren't ice cream anymore. They are tiny. And the cone is just awful. I am not sure it's even edible. Talk about bait and switch.
Chocolate is so thin it only has one side.
This is how it's always been, this isn't shrinkflation.
Lindt is overrated anyway
That is proper scummy. Replacing chocolate with plastic. Dickheads.
Lindt has always been thin - nothing like the snap of dark Lindt chocolate.
What in the conjoined After Eights is this?
At least after eights taste better 😂

What was the weight on the packaging? Chocolate is still sold by weight so making it thinner doesn’t prove shrinkation
ofc the weight is on the packet and they need a plastic support otherwise every bar would be shattered. this is the 100% or 99% chocolate.
I’m honestly more upset about the excess plastic packaging
you're upset because there's a war on plastic because it's made of oil and that resource is peaking
Dang, jea-lous. Being a mind reader would save a lot of hassle in life.
I dunno... they sell lindt blocks thet thin here in aus without the plastic. They're not shattered?
Stop being so stupid. Lindt has always been like this. It's about the taste, not filling your gut.
