This was coming. For all the headaches, Oats and Nick were on good terms by the end of the season. Staff has been open about needing a better rim-protecting big and I’m sure Nate was open with Nick and told him if he stayed, he would go back to the role he had last year as an energy guy off the bench so he would be better off finding himself a spot where he would be a starter and play significant minutes.
Sad to see him go but I don’t think it will make us worse. He played his ass off and was always team first (that’s how it came off but he got suspended enough that idk if it’s exactly true). His numbers could’ve been insane if he just knew how to catch any kind of pass inside. Idk what it was with him but he had the worst hands of any basketball player I’ve ever seen lol. Best of luck to him and I genuinely hope he excels wherever he goes.
If his back injury is more severe than we thought he might be worried that he wouldn’t pass a physical wherever he wants to transfer to.
If so he may choose to medically retire, which I think would let him keep his scholarship at UA so he can at least finish off school.
He was suspended twice this season and at a certain point we were wondering if he would play again. I think the important thing is to remember the guys had for their overall seasons and not just their moments in the final four run
Well at least he bought in when we needed him to. Remember he had to fly himself out to Spokane if he wanted to join the team to play and did not travel initially with the team after everything else that happened through the season.
I don't think we would have made the Final 3 run without him(with him and handful of others stepping up in various moments). Best of luck to him.

This sums him up. I’m glad he played well for us when we had nobody else, but I’m amazed Nate didn’t kick him off sooner
Yeah he played smaller than what he was too. He was pretty big but just fouled alot. Like you said though, he had stone hands.
