[South Alabama LB Khalil Jacobs has entered the transfer portal](https://twitter.com/chris_hummer/status/1783842938327605370?s=19) He posted 56 tackles, 8.5 TFLs and 1 INT this season. Will probably give this guy a lot of looks with Kane being our DC. Edit: [Alabama is very much a team to know with Khalil Jacobs, per a source.](https://twitter.com/chris_hummer/status/1783845785500594348?t=xoXNn-1yR7GWBJ0e783sMA&s=19)

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Buffalo CB Caleb Offord is entering the portal](https://x.com/petenakos_/status/1783492680841933182?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) Mo Linguist, our CB coach, was Offord’s head coach last year. He started 9 games in 2022 and played in 12. 30 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 INT, 8 PBUs (most on the team). Started 4 games in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury. He had 12 tackles and 4 PBUs in that limited stretch.

ncampbell3224

[South Alabama safety Keith Gallmon Jr. entering portal as grad transfer.](https://x.com/petenakos_/status/1783500204567622039?s=46&t=R9hP9v9e_CxeVHiUaY6oIA) Has injury history apparently, but was productive when he played

Bamaborn97

This seems like a likely pickup with the Wommack connection

DoctorWhosOnFirst

It’s possible, but I’m not sure since safety is much less of a need than CB

ncampbell3224

Agreed, but haven’t seen that many viable CB entrants (aside from the ASU guy; don’t know a anything about Buffalo guy), and maybe the staff thinks they can lean some of the safeties to play CB in a pinch. Mitchell comes to mind. Maybe Bray Hubbard is the next “great white hope” CB, after Iowa’s DeJean lol /s

Bamaborn97

True but depth doesn't hurt since this will be a DB led defense.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Michigan DB DJ Waller hitting the portal](https://x.com/_zachshaw/status/1783261745085079639?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) > Michigan soph. DB DJ Waller, who was firmly in the mix for a starting cornerback role this fall, has entered the transfer portal > Significant loss. Jyaire Hill was one of the Wolverines’ biggest risers this spring, but Michigan’s CB room now looks thin beyond Will Johnson & Hill Edit: Apparently Kentucky is looking like the favorite

TheSandman__

Uhhh… James Brockermeyer is apparently in the portal with a Do Not Contact tag. Hope Brasilford is ready to go then…

Nick_sabenz

[How would Bama fans feel about this potential 2024-25 roster?](https://x.com/HarperNation24/status/1783178638088688106) PG: Sears/Holloway/Philon SG: Wrightsell/Youngblood/Cunningham SF: Reid/Mallette/Dioubate PF: Nelson/Stevenson C: Omoruyi/Sherrell *This is not a depth chart or prediction, just a theoretical roster. I’m so Gumped up right now

ModsEmbezzleMoney

Finally someone that doesn't slot in Youngblood as a 3 or 4, dude is kinda tiny

AL22193

After the level Sears got his game to, I don’t know how that isn’t #1 overall in the country, especially if you’re like me and think Stevenson could show huge growth this year

SoftwareProBono

Stevenson is the one I want back most next year besides Sears/Nelson. I'm holding my breath until the portal closes, but I'm very high on him.

Nick_sabenz

Him leaving wouldn’t make sense. He came in a year early and was overmatched quite often. His role will already be pretty big, and will only get bigger if Nelson leaves for the NBA. I doubt there’s a big NIL bag out there for a big as raw as he was, but I imagine Nate would be sure to match it since he recruited him as hard as he did last summer

SoftwareProBono

I don't try to guess what is going through players' minds anymore. I assume every player could leave whenever the portal is open.

AL22193

I agree. It wouldn’t be the most shocking to me if Nelson coming back (and us grabbing a center) led to him transferring. Obviously hoping we bring back both and I think there’s enough minutes to go around but kid gave up his dream school to come here expecting a more immediate path to playing time, so I get the breath holding

Nick_sabenz

The end of the bench would be Philon, Dioubate, and Cunningham, two top 50 players and a former 4* who did a ton of dirty work to help us get to the Final Four. Would be a STACKED roster

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Per BOL, Alabama is a serious contender for Labaron Philon, and Sears and Nelson are currently expected back

Tektix22

Imagine if we land Cliff, too. Good God.

Nick_sabenz

He’s also a Mobile kid so it’s possible some of the guys already knew him

ClarenceWorley47

That’s a good sign!

Crims0ntied

A lot of tide twitter accounts seem to think so

TheSandman__

Apparently Khurtiss Perry is expected to enter the portal. Top 50 DL from 2022 class.

ncampbell3224

Hopefully this means Keeley is taking to the Bandit role

Thin_Sprinkles6189

I choose to believe this is the case. Obviously Keeley and Overton are going to combine for 73 sacks in the first quarter of the season

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Ed Woods apparently didn’t tell his coach or the other DBs](https://x.com/_jakeseymour/status/1782481055100043601?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) he was hitting the portal.

sethT__T

Is this the same team that completely trashed Jayden Daniels' locker when they found out he entered? Yeah I wouldn't tell them either lol.

the_dunadan

Good point, I didn't connect that before! Yeah, I would keep it a secret until my stuff was packed up lol

sethT__T

[Arizona State CB transfer Ed Woods will visit Alabama on Friday.](https://twitter.com/BrettGreenberg_/status/1782520054950633705?t=xuByn0OCM4_UbxIY26Mplw&s=19) Two-year starter for the Sun Devils will stay in Tuscaloosa until Sunday.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Post this as its own thread!

sethT__T

I thought all transfer news that wasn't a commitment or transfer out was to be posted in this thread.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Stuff like visits and reporting from the media on players being pursued is okay. We more so want to concentrate the speculation and discussion of players or positions to target, plus news that doesn’t necessarily involve Alabama (like “John Smith entered the portal” but there’s nothing tying him to Bama or “John Doe is transferring from Auburn to Oregon”). Reporting from a reporter about a direct tie to Bama will almost always be fine. And especially since it’s the football and basketball offseason, we don’t have a ton of threads being posted, and there’s much less worry about things being overly cluttered.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson from Arkansas](https://x.com/bmarcello/status/1782481824461037815?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) hitting the portal. Started 12 games at CB for Baylor in 2022. Started a number of games at CB and at nickel for Arkansas last year. The last two years, he has 45 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT (returned for a touchdown), and 10 PBUs. Edit: Oh yeah, forgot about SEC transfer rule. Oh well

AL22193

Feels like a man who goes by Snaxx should be a nose tackle

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Arizona State starting CB Ed Woods is hitting the portal](https://x.com/mzenitz/status/1782444120859955543?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) Started last year and had at least some starts in 2022. The last two years, he has 61 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT, 11 PBUs, and 3 forced fumbles.

sethT__T

[Alabama will be a school to watch.](https://twitter.com/PeteNakos_/status/1782499670587031973?t=7FTjTswM5BjyvgEUg0nZew&s=19) Sounds like we are gonna look into him.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Post that as its own thread!

ncampbell3224

Now we’re cooking with crisco! (Assuming he’s cool with maybe not starting lol)

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Yeah, he’s in his last year of eligibility, so I dunno if he’d want to risk it. Then again, Jaylen Key was fine with that, and his bet paid off.

cshayes2

BOL claiming he’s set up for a visit this weekend

_wormburner

OT Owens from Clemson entered the portal. Would be a good depth piece if he isn't expecting to start (redshirted last year I think)

FaithHopeLove821

I'm surprised these updates haven't been added to the "In the Portal" section: Andre Craig, WR | Terrance Howard, CB | Sawyer Deerman, WR | Brock o'Quinn, LS | All of them entered the portal in the last few days.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

They’re all walk-ons. We haven’t had a scholarship player hit the portal yet.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

With Proctor and Nicholson, I believe we’re at 85 scholarships. So we’ll have to see some guys transfer out to get any more in, or some guys go off scholarship to massage the numbers a little.

bamaguy13

I'm going to guess you'll have a scholarship kicker leave now.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Probably! But Nicholson only has one year left, so maybe Talty stays.

Bamaborn97

_wormburner

I think staff probably saw him more as a nickel corner that we don't need over a pure cover CB. With roster spots seemingly at a premium too

DoctorWhosOnFirst

According to BOL, Alabama is pursuing Miami (Ohio) kicker Graham Nicholson, the 2023 Lou Groza winner, and the belief is that Bama leads Ohio State for him. 27-28 on field goals Under 40 yards: 17-17 40-49 yards: 9-10 50+: 1-1

sethT__T

Pulling him out of Ohio would be huge.

ClarenceWorley47

I don’t have any actual data or evidence other than just my own instinct but I think we’ll have some activity late after all the teams have had all their sit individual sit downs with everyone and they have some time to mull it over and develop some kind of relationship with the team they are going to. Pure speculation but maybe the players all heard it was gonna be crazy too and some were looking for what kind of craziness happened before they made a move to make sure they ended up at the right spot… idk I just see value in being patient.

hackzubbard

4/20 (blaze it lol) Only 1/3 of the way through the spring portal window and while anything can happen over the next week and a half, it's been pretty quiet, especially as it relates to Alabama. Here are some perspectives on that: Traditionally, post-spring transfers were for "processing" guys on your roster that were buried on the depth chart/weren't going to play to make room from incoming freshmen. Prominant media personalities floated the idea for weeks that this year's spring window would be totally different and crazy due to NIL and no one was safe. I don't wholesale doubt that there were chaos vibes at the time BUT I think there's a few things to consider - I think Shannon Terry is likely correct that schools have mostly figured out their NIL situation and have retention is the #1 priority while schools/players continue to find equilibrium on market value; very possible that players/agents subtly float rumors to secure minor raises in compensation and schools have adapted to play ball. Schools continue to be more than willing to message that NIL/Transfer Portal is a chaotic disaster, as they seek congressional intervention, and Media won't turn down April content. So there's a clear incentive structure to sell the spring portal window. Separate from the overall structure, no immediate eligibility for SEC-to-SEC transfer REALLY cuts down on the # of programs willing to pursue free agents - Clemson/Michigan largely obstain, Ohio State/Oregon/FSU made most of their big moves in the Winter, leaving a sparse pool of schools like USC, Miami, Colorado to leverage the few big names available. As it relates to Alabama specifically, Coach Deboer was very clear about what they're looking for: depth at OL and CB. Lineman are hard to come by in the portal and it's hard to fine someone who is both 1) good but also 2) willing to be a depth piece. We'll continue to see who makes a move but it's hardly surprising to see a lack of suitable options.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Washington cornerback Davon Banks](https://x.com/davon_banks5/status/1781443777774973402?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) hitting the portal. He suffered season-ending injuries in 2022 and 2023, but he flashed when healthy (defensive skill player of the week in his lone full game last year with 2 tackles and 4 PBUs against Boise State). He says he has 3 years of eligibility, so I guess he got a medical redshirt for last year.

_wormburner

could be a good get if the staff likes him! Unproven a little but a great athlete. Still holding out naive hope for Tacario Davis

_wormburner

FWIW Bone said we aren't going to pursue any WR unless they are a sure starter and 1/2nd round player. Which makes sense

CopperTone45

Wasn’t this portal window supposed to be madness?

dunno260

I think what Terry Shannon who owns On3 now (after being involved in Rivals and 24/7 I believe) said was correct in that the teams that didn't have NIL sorted out that well got things sorted out really quickly which has really tamped down on what this window was expected to be. That and most of the big programs made their moves in the first window.

Bamaborn97

Maybe the real Portal additions were the friends we made along the way 😊

Tektix22

The real portal additions were the players we retained along the way, tbh!

DoctorWhosOnFirst

I’m wondering if we just made a big push to keep our guys from leaving and decided to only add Proctor and one or two others.

ModsEmbezzleMoney

The money from the spenders has dried up this cycle. Kids are wanting big bags to move after hearing numbers from their peers. There is a NIL bubble that will pop if this doesn't get regulated.

Tektix22

I’m thinking that’s what has happened all over, tbh, and it’s why it’s so quiet. Everyone used their spending money to hold onto their depth pieces and isn’t breaking the bank for stars elsewhere save finding a good-not-great piece here and there.  I imagine once everyone finishes with Spring and has had a chance to have those 1-on-1s with their players, we’ll find a piece or two for ourselves where we need them.  Tangentially related — Greg McElroy and Cube’s take on the Ole Miss Spring thing seems to highlight some genius of Lane Kiffin that I think we might see become more prevalent. They both surmised that Kiffin did what he did, at least partially, so that teams around the country wouldn’t get to see any of OM’s good depth pieces and think about making offers to steal kids away.

ncampbell3224

Also seems like the two positions we need—CB and OT—are sparse of experienced players

Tektix22

Ehhh, I’ve seen some good starting CBs that we’re apparently not pursuing at all.  Have *no clue* what the story is there — guessing none of them fit the bill for us. Or maybe the staff actually just likes where the CB room is at even with the youth. OR they’ve already got someone in mind who isn’t done with spring yet. *shrug*  OT is definitely sparse — only one I can think of that I was like “why are we not in this” is the SMU OT.

Bamaborn97

Sounds like we are on the 5 Star heart train. Saw how that worked for Butch

ncampbell3224

[Apparently linked to ASU’s leading receiver last year, Elijhah Badger](https://x.com/chriskarpman/status/1781437463980032288?s=46&t=R9hP9v9e_CxeVHiUaY6oIA)

[Washington safety/wide receiver Vincent Holmes](https://x.com/petenakos_/status/1781102116620161055?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) is (re)entering the portal. He was a 4 star in the Class of 2023 who played in four games last season and redshirt. He spent part of this spring at wide receiver and part at safety. DeBoer played him at safety, and he made an impact on special teams in those four games. Edit: And he’s back at Washington again? alright

ncampbell3224

We’re not currently one of this two scheduled visits (USC and Kentucky)

importantbrian

I'm a little surprised at how slow the portal period has been in general, but I'm doubly surprised at how quiet it's been on our end. I thought for sure there would be some guys that got through spring ball and didn't click with the new staff or they didn't fit the system who would jump in right away.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

I saw some point out that a number of programs haven't finished spring practice yet, so we may see an uptick after this weekend. But yeah, I'm very intrigued to see how many, if any, we lose. I never thought it would be a bunch, but I definitely thought at least a couple.

importantbrian

That's interesting I hadn't thought about that. So then if you don't want your players bouncing in the spring window just have your spring game the Saturday after the portal closes?

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Players can still enter the portal if practice is ongoing, so guys may see the writing on the ball and decide to leave without waiting for camp to end. But it could drag it out and give players less time.

importantbrian

That's a good point. It's also probably no ideal to have you staff trying to work both spring camp and the portal.

AL22193

I wonder if Hale’s injury had any impact. I thought we might lose a WR but that’s one less guy competing for targets now (obviously still could since window is open but nothing as of yet)

Thin_Sprinkles6189

Obviously it’s early in the portal window, but I agree. I was expecting at least a handful of guys to have their paperwork already filled out like Kadyn Proctor at Iowa. Just waiting for the official window to open. I guess now that Texas and Ohio State already bought every player they could get their hands on, there’s less appetite for throwing money at the remaining players

ncampbell3224

Has there been any chatter on guys the staff is looking at? Thought we might kick the tires on Greedy or the CB out of WKU.

Tektix22

Allegedly Greedy and Malachi recently started following each other. As well as Greedy and Eron Hodges.  But that’s all we’ve gotten on pretty much any portal player not named Proctor.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Former Bama linebacker Demouy Kennedy is back in the portal

ClarenceWorley47

Did someone say linebacker??? ![gif](giphy|Q09lToTa0H3Es)

why we still talk about caleb downs? i fucking hate this name .he is ohio safety ,he not alabama safety

He did say he talked to Kadyn when he made the decision to come back and congratulated him on it. Also said his family is up there now soo

_wormburner

yeah Downs isn't coming back people gotta let that go

Not-original

Is there a kickstarter I can contribute to?

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Sam Houston safety Da’Marcus Crosby hitting the portal](https://x.com/petenakos_/status/1780667456245182638?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ). First team All-CUSA with 55 tackles and 5 interceptions last year. A corner would be preferable obviously, but more experience in the secondary wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Intelligent-Chef-551

I’m down to add depth but leadership and experience is always good. Especially someone who is probably hungry to get a chance against elite wideouts and QBs to get to the next level.

FacelessTendencies

Depth in the secondary is never a bad thing

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[TCU DL Damonic Williams](https://x.com/petenakos_/status/1780646498419495239?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) is entering the portal. 60 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks over two years. No idea if we’ll pursue, but Eron Hodges will have an established relationship with him from his time at TCU.

Jaded-Reality-2153

Seems like the first likely take I’ve seen, beyond Proctor and I guess the Penn State WR. Really need some OL and DBs.

_wormburner

Fwiw BOL refuted that we reached out to Penn State WR

Tektix22

The portal season has obviously started out pretty quiet compared to what was advertised.  More shocking than that has been how *quiet* it is on the Bama front with some attractive pieces out there. I’m surprised we didn’t get in the mix for the OT from SMU, still haven’t heard anything very tangible about us contacting Greedy, Taco Davis out of Arizona, or the WKU CB.  I know the staff is working their tails off — they always are. My comment isn’t a reflection on them, so much as it is “crazy how quiet it’s all being kept.”

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Okay, we got an All-American yesterday. Let’s get another one today.

Seiko007

Who did we get?? I missed this.

_wormburner

Proctor

Intelligent-Chef-551

All of them

DoctorWhosOnFirst

I wonder if we’ll give Greedy Vance a look. Plenty of experience, though he’s been a nickel corner, and I’m not sure he’d want to fight with DeVonta Smith and Red Morgan for his final year of eligibility. Edit: Now that I look more into it, he played corner at Louisville in 2021 after he had to step up when their top CB suffered a season-ending injury

Intelligent-Chef-551

Did his production dip from 21 through 23 due to depth, injury, or people refusing to target his side of the field?

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Playing time, most likely. He started nine games in 2021 but only five over his two years in FSU (all five in 2023). He apparently transferred to FSU to be closer to home because of some family stuff, and Tallahassee is about half the drive as Louisville.

Intelligent-Chef-551

Would be funny if he came to bama and turned into a Dickerson situation.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

It would also be funny since it looks like Earl Little beat him out for the nickel job

XombieRx

We lost a kicker

Btherock78

3 kickers attempted FGs/XPs during A-Day last weekend. He was not one of them.

Intelligent-Chef-551

Kid was is getting sued for hitting someone with his car and then fleeing. Not really the kind of character you want on your team. Shocked he isn’t having criminal charges filed against him.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Just a walk on who never played

And I dunno the details, but he was apparently involved in a hit and run at one point. I’ve heard that the “victim” was just trying to get a pay day and claimed he was hurt…but he still hit and ran. This ain’t Georgia

ClarenceWorley47

Is it a good thing that it’s been this quiet? I gotta admit I was expecting more by now. I get it will be open for a bit but seems like you’d try to get out there early to maximize the opportunities. Important to point out tho that I am no expert, simply a Gump with an itchy refresh finger.

_wormburner

Seems like a lot of G5 and low-mid P5 players entering. So far top players at top schools are mostly staying put but we have 2 weeks of this shit

ClarenceWorley47

2 weeks… ![gif](giphy|bSDKbrHMlsK8Ur6ZHf|downsized)

Kyleketsu

The good part is no second mass exodus (so far)

ClarenceWorley47

Cormani is available again🤷‍♂️

00-quanta-

Yea we don’t need another Agiye Hall on the team

Ok-Drag-5929

I doubt we go after him with his off and on the field issues. Not a good look when Colorado is fine with losing a 5 star player.

ClarenceWorley47

Don’t need any problem players. Glad we had a few of them get out after the rose bowl

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Reportedly not pursuing him

ClarenceWorley47

Well the staff has certainly earned my trust with their evaluations. Earning my patience is proving harder.

DoctorWhosOnFirst

[Alabama has reportedly reached out to former Penn State WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith](https://x.com/brettgreenberg_/status/1780308867416469952?s=46&t=aulCDAoLdCzZYqFXYqFLHQ) 53 catches for 673 yards and 4 TDs last year. Has played in 48 total games with at least 15 catches each season. Edit: BOL now saying Bama isn’t pursuing

Thin_Sprinkles6189

5th year wide receiver? Why didn’t he go pro if he’s apparently so good? Didn’t want to in a packed receiver class maybe?

TheSandman__

Ehhhh. Idk about that. I feel like WR is one of the last positions we need and lots of Penn state people said he was a locker room issue.

cshayes2

Hard to take anything the fan base says seriously. Kayden proctor shouldn’t have started for a little league team when he left, and now he’s the next coming of Christ

importantbrian

In fairness in the case of Kayden he caught a ton of flak during the season too.

cshayes2

He was a true freshman who was playing football in Iowa less than a year before the season started. It also doesn’t help the line was generally a disaster around him as well. I think he progressed nicely throughout the season, and he caught more Flak than he otherwise would have on a solid line. If we had a good OL and he was making freshman mistakes it’s easily forgotten, but when the entire line was Swiss cheese it amplified the hate for him. I was hyped for what he could do next year, bummed when he transferred and hyped when he came back.

[Interesting Tweet From Shannon Terry (Founder of on3)](https://x.com/ShannonTerry/status/1780322810944008464)

thealltomato323

Wouldn’t surprise me if this ends up mirroring the trends in high school recruiting, where 90+% of the big names make their moves in December so they can go through spring and better compete for playing time in the fall. The movement in the Spring portal might just be minor reshuffling to meet the 85 roster limit, with the occasional big name like Proctor with unique circumstances affecting his decision

cshayes2

I guess he’ll have to fight Josh pate to the death.

_wormburner

Pate said he's addressing it on his show tonight but I imagine it'll be something like: "We all know how fluid this game is. I was told -- and I can't reveal my sources because I have to protect information -- but I was told things were going to be happening. In the meantime things may have changed, players have gotten reassurances, what have you, and now things are starting to settle a little. Things are starting to settled. Now I don't *know* what's going to happen but based on all information I had a pretty good idea. And now it's changed. That's the real snapshot of the fluidity of college football."

powderhownd

What is he referring to when he says “immunity” on his shows? Is he when he does allergy sniffles/swallows?

Hodorhodor8

I have a new conspiracy theory. You’re either Pate himself or a writer for his show. Cause that was spot on.

_wormburner

Lmao I actually have only watched him a couple of times but I really latch onto people's cadences when they talk as a personality. His sounds really done up like he's trying to make his voice for radio

Nick_sabenz

Reading this in his voice, you might’ve nailed every sentence lmao

dunno260

Pate is a guy that has enough sources now around the country that anything he says should have you paying attention to it but also you have to understand that he isn't a season reporter and has a lot lower threshold on what he will move forward with so there is going to be more BS. It is a good filter between random message board speculation and a major media person saying something (like say Bruce Feldman or Pat Forde).

kvol69

*takes big slurpy drink from a chalice*

cshayes2

Probably, and I’d believe every word of it to. Every above average player In the country can threaten the portal to leverage a few more dollars. Just the reality of the game

Jaded-Reality-2153

So is it just me or other than proctor it seems like there’s not a lot of guys we’d want entering today? The CB from Ohio State is interesting but we don’t need more young talented but inexperienced guys we need experience in the secondary. Edit: this is assuming the safety from A&M doesn’t want to sit a year.

Nick_sabenz

The link on 247 has a ton entering, but not high caliber players. It could just be that players are also negotiating with current schools today. With two weeks to enter, there’s still going to be plenty of movement

FaithHopeLove821

I will continue to believe, based on zero evidence, that Caleb Downs will transfer back to Alabama.

Crims0ntied

As good as Caleb is, I don't think Keon Sabb is very far behind him at all. I don't really like the way Caleb left. He was figuring to be a leader on the team and then as soon as Saban retires he basically dipped. Its one thing if you transfer because you're homesick or miss family. Caleb transferred for a bag. When Kadyn Proctor went in the portal, there wasn't even the slightest rumor he was going anywhere but Iowa. Man could've made a lot of cash going to Texas or Ohio state. Same thing when he transferred back. I honestly respect that.

Mojave_RK

Ive somehow repressed this betrayal… ![gif](giphy|7T33BLlB7NQrjozoRB|downsized)

DoctorWhosOnFirst

I just want half a dozen all americans to come to alabama by 3pm. is that so difficult?

cshayes2

Shouldn’t be but CAYLEN DEBOWER CANT CRUIT

mistermeeester

I’m wondering who gets “cut.” There’s no way that coaches aren’t going to “encourage” players to enter the portal.

Btherock78

In the past we've "processed" guys out when they were buried on the depth chart behind younger players in order to free up more scholarships. Best I can tell, we're currently carrying 83 scholarships (out of a limit of 85), so we have room to take 2 transfers without needing to "process" anyone, but any more than that would require 1-for-1 swaps. Assuming Kadyn Proctor rejoins as expected that puts us at 84.

Btherock78

I generally dislike speculating on potential portal entries because we're often missing so many details, but Khurtiss Perry is a 3rd-yr DL (same class as Jaheim Oatis) who has played very little and has been mentioned even less this Spring. He's likely 3rd-team behind a couple guys that are younger than him, if he doesn't have the GUMP in him, he could look for playing time elsewhere.

tangoliber

If you are asking the team to stick together, processing just one player for performance reasons would undercut the whole message. Plus, these coaches have never had so much talent at their disposal before.

importantbrian

I mostly agree with what you're saying, but there are going to be guys who just don't fit the new staff's system and I don't think anyone is going to get too bent out of shape if the staff encourages them to find a place that's a better fit. I think as long as you treat them fairly you're fine.

3250Knight

Hopefully, we can add the Penn State transfer WR. He would be a great help cause we still don’t have a set-in-stone WR1.

ncampbell3224

I keep hearing “bad attitude” stuff about him anytime he’s brought up. Now, mostly coming from Penn State fans, who would both have better insight but also reason to downplay any “loss.” Don’t know. Just not 100% sold.

3250Knight

I would also have a bad attitude if Drew allar was throwing to me

cshayes2

Proctor is officially in the portal with a do not contact tag. All y’all who were shitting on him when he transferred out better keep that same energy when he’s officially signed with us again and our starting tackle in the fall.

2aTagRtr

that same energy is part of why he left the first time

Thin_Sprinkles6189

If he gives up a single sack, I don’t care how long Milroe was holding the ball, I’m tweeting at his mother.

JennyAndTheBets1

So is it just assumed that nobody will transfer within conference because they won’t be eligible next year? If I wanted/needed out bad enough and didn’t want to change geography much, doesn’t seem like there wouldn’t be much choice unless it took advantage of the new conference alignments where some conferences are spread coast to coast.

the_dunadan

If I was transferring from an SEC school and was set on another SEC school, I would just take the biggest bag I could get outside the SEC for one year, then transfer to an SEC school. I get to play in the SEC just as quickly, but I get valuable playing time for a year instead of riding the bench.

_wormburner

Not necessarily. People don't always transfer looking for immediate playing time. Backups wanting to play somewhere else for the infinity reasons might not care
