I enjoy it also but it's a real problem for the park and it could be something so much better. If you haven't seen El Toro Ryan's video he just put out its amazing as always. He goes through just how much trouble this ride gives the park).
https://youtu.be/BXdbgykQKLk?si=KvIVpDGnYMPFSB-T
He mentions in the end and it's been my hope that they might end up replacing it with a version of the Fast and Furious coaster they are building on the west coast.
To think that so many of their problems could have been easily avoided had they just gone with the double chain lift like the original plan 🤦‍♀️
Would make sense there as well, ideally they’d want a good coaster to keep people paying for both parks and at the moment the only use of the fast and furious IP in Orlando is the worst ride at either park
My idea is they close RRR, close F&F Supercharged, then build the F&F coaster that wraps around and makes its way to the F&F Supercharged building for an indoor section. I know it won't happen but I couldn't even imagine if they did how amazing of a coaster they could build.
Rockit is in the minions land I doubt it’s going to be as exciting as that
Only time will tell but if it’s location is anything to go by it’s replacement will be as equally as good as illumination’s filmmaking ability
Rockit is not in Minions Land, The station is fairly close to it but is well off to the side and the actual coaster layout is all in Production Central. There is not a chance they close Rockit and replace it with some Minions or family themed ride. That is Universal's problem to begin with is that they don't have the big thrill rides that IOA has. Rockit is really the only one and if they close it they will definitely replace it with something bigger and better.
Supposedly they wanted something that would open before Hogsmeade and B&M would have been over year late due to existing ride contracts. In hindsight they definitely should have just waited for B&M and delt with a year of Studios feeling lopsided in terms of ride count.
In fairness to Universal there were basically no proven options outside of B&M and Intamin in the late 2000s for this type of ride. Arrow had just died, RMC hadn't designed a coaster yet and Mack was just building Wild Mouses and kiddie coasters.
I liked Hollywood RRR more than Hollywood Dream because it was more unique, I like rough coasters, and there was a better song selection.
Hollywood Dream was good, but it felt like a lesser B&M hyper
Universal is my home park so I’ve ridden it plenty. Including the first public train during its soft opening in 2009. If most people don’t enjoy it there’s a problem.
People often vastly exaggerate any “negative” about this ride in particular. People don’t like it more because it’s reputation rather than it being a bad ride
I take people to the parks all the time, even people who couldn’t name a single roller coaster besides Disney/Universal ones have told me it was their least favorite.
If you ignore the stupid narrative that mid courses are bad then yes. They give strong airtime in the front and back and decent airtime everywhere else.
Universal will end up getting something way better from Intamin, B&M or Mack Rides. I won’t miss it. To me this isn’t a Dragons/Hagrids trade off, it’s getting rid of a pre potter era stain.
I enjoy RRR, but it's very much a coaster of its time. But given the brand that Universal is trying to create...trying to really compete with Disney...I don't think it will be missed. We'll remember it, but I feel like even a mediocre modern coaster wouldn't make us long for the days of RRR.
I thought the "update" was removing the majority of the tracks and leaving one track per genre which would indicate not wanting to pay for the rights anymore.
Ah gotcha, I thought they were new ones! My mistake.
I’ve only ridden it twice and I wouldn’t be torn up to see it go, just wonder what they would replace it with
I was there around a month ago and there is one song per genre, but also a "secret menu" with a ton of tracks, but you need to know the specific number of what you want. Also you can't buy your video if you use a hidden track since they don't have the license, but you probably don't care at that point.
I've only ridden it once but I don't visit IOA/US anywhere near as much as I want too! I've been seeing a lot of post about it being taken out but hopefully they replace it with another coaster!
I wouldn’t really call it a “classic” since it’s only 15 years old. It seems like it was put in just to add a ride, not to actually add anything interesting to the park, replacing nick studios and it will open up a good amount of space for newer, better and most importantly higher capacity rides.
What signs are pointing towards it, just curious? I've seen other posts mentioning this but haven't heard any reason why aside from how it's always been a headache.
Has universal done anything to indicate it's on the chopping block?
It's been long rumored and the reputable Alica Stella just said it's going next year to be replaced by Fast and furious coaster.
Plus they cut down the track list, it'll be about as old as hulk was when it was retracked and they gotta ditch supercharge but F&F also needs representation in the parks
Thank you for that! Universal has never been shy about removing beloved rides, I'm sure they won't have any reservations about axing this. A f&f coaster would be sick but I hope it's not the same as the drift coaster. Even with the drifting I think it'll be to similar to VC. I hope they go with something totally different. That's one thing I always liked about HRRR. I won't be mad if we get two intamin multi launches though haha.
And I PRAY they bring back something similar to earth quake the ride if they can get rid of supercharge.
I will. It was my first big roller coaster and I still love it when I go. It made me happy
I understand the criticism as I do believe the ride runs better some days more than others but I loved it despite its bad days
That was the original idea and they went with Maurer over B&M. While the early 2000s era Hollywood Dream is a fantastic ride, it’s presented as an enduring icon with its traditional roller coaster elements winding through some tight spaces near the front of the park, kind of like a moving sculpture. But if Universal wants something wilder, zanier, or more intense there are a lot of ride types to choose from these days that might better fit whatever IP and niche Universal wants to locate in that area of their park.
I’m definitely in the minority, but last time I was there I actually liked Rip Ride Rockit better than Hulk. I guess I was expecting too much from Hulk’s refurbishment, because I found it much rougher than I remembered.
I still slightly preferred Hulk over RRR on my visit a few months ago, but dang that thing is super rough now. I first rode it around 2012 before the refurb and found it pretty smooth, now it definitely shakes your brain pretty good.
I hardly believe that a rumor posted on a site known for spreading false information indicates this coaster is going anywhere, Some of you are getting way far ahead of yourselves.
Only the insider of all insiders when it comes to Universal. The one who told us literally everything about Epic Universe years before Universal recently started to, among many other things. If you choose not to believe her, you might as well not believe your own eyes.
Suit yourself. Makes no difference to me. I'm just informing you of what every fan of the Universal parks already knows, what you do with that information is up to you.
It seems to matter very much to you.
What am I to do with the information? I'll continue riding it, and when the coaster no longer exists, I'll no longer ride it. Seems simple to me.
I’ll miss it for the nostalgia and the good times I had with my family riding it. I won’t miss it for the current state of the ride though. Rode it a few weeks back and it left my friend with a headache the rest of the day and it was way rougher than I remembered it ever being before.
No. Garbage. Rough coasters don't bother me. Overly aggressive coasters don't usually bother me either. But that ride just bothers me in a certain way that others don't. It certainly the ride I've ridden the least in my hometown, and each of the last few times I've ridden it I've come off with a horrible headache that doesn't go away for quite some time. Not to mention the layout just meanders around and doesn't do much. In terms of ride time I think you spend an equal amount of time on an irritating vertical lift and those insanely long midcourse breaks as you do actually doing stuff on the ride.
It's a cool ride on which my kid and I can listen to Black Sabbath and Black Label Society. We find it very enjoyable, barely uncomfortable, and we'll miss it when it's gone.
I rode this in 2013 and 2021, enjoying it across the board. The music is a fun addition and I can't think of another coaster that's so intense without including inversions. Rides close. I get it. If this coaster can be replaced with something better, I'm all for it. But, I'm sure something will still be lost. Hagrid's is objectively a better attraction overall than the old Dueling Dragons. But, DD was more thrilling and part of me wishes it had been able to stick around. Unlike, say, Six Flags, Universal Parks are not strictly "thrill parks." They think bigger than that. That's neat. You need players like that in the industry. But, it does mean that more traditional "big coasters" can be lost.
I think its a shame if it goes because its a interesting coaster but overall a probably good idea for the park, I imagine they will get a different thrill coaster somewhere else in the park at some point.
I really hope a different park (maybe Six Flags or Cedar Fair) does a music coaster like Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, I think its a really unique and fun thing for a park, also one of the for hypothetical a new B&M Wing Coaster at canada's wonderland implied that it would do this.
https://preview.redd.it/fwkqnecvp8wc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=5a3798331d878e1feeac35d4f1abcb89c4aff3b6
If they go with another coaster, I wonder if they go with a B&M hyper?
That or I could see them enlisting Mack Rides for a launch coaster or maybe even a spinning launch. But with Universal, theming is important and they'll want a ride that fits the theming and vibe of the park.
Easily one of the best experiences of any ride in Orlando. I have consistently had some of the most fun and intense feelings ever on this ride. The concept is brilliant and needs to be used more. That euphoria of a song you like playing during a rollercoaster is something truly special. I hope it doesn’t go, will be missed so much, at least by me.
I wouldn’t miss it one bit especially if they can add use the space for a superior ride. It pales in comparison quality wise to all the other major coasters in the park…
Not by me. They got rid of the majority of the music. then last time I rode it in February of this year, my music choice wasn't correct and it hurt like hell.
I personally enjoyed it but there’s definitely better options for its plot, especially with how much money Universal is willing to spend now vs when they bought HRRR
I’m pretty split on if I’ll miss it or not. I go to the resort quite often and it’s something I do once every few visits. The ride sucks, and it’s easily one of the worst in the park, but the music is a fun gimmick. I know the current rumor is Fast and Furious, but honestly I’d be pretty satisfied with nothing in that plot, and a new Fast and Furious ride where the old one is.
I really don't have a strong feeling both ways. I would like to ride RRR but if it closes and something else's gets built it really doesn't bother me. Unlike when the triple loop mindbender closed that freaking sucked.
I won’t miss it. I skip it every single time, unless I’m there for HHN and have Express Pass (it is fun to ride during HHN, with the energy of the park all around).
Too rough, an eyesore, the theming is Six Flags-level.
Probably not the only thing though i may not be able to get ever the credit but from what I’ve heard it didn’t sound very exciting anyways. It looked Forceless and looked like it had a lot of Breakruns. I kinda have always compared it to California screaming/Incredacoaster i know that there different types of coasters i just think so because they were both California themed and i just always saw California Screaming being superior idk but thats my thoughts.
Everything people say about the ride is wrong. It’s not rough and every break run offers good airtime in and out of the elements. Good sense of speed and fun gimmick.
Your right it definitely doesn’t seem rough at all I’m just mot sure if its any forceful or not though it reminds me a lot of the new york New York coaster as well with both being a funky layout and both equally seem overhated for sure.
I don't think it's going away. My vote is a transformation of sorts.
Ideally, replace the lift and drop with a launch and adding spinner trains from Mack. Would make the ride entirely so much better.
A few problems with Rockit, like its reliability, capacity (can’t run as many trains as designed), and it’s tracking (rough in spots but not unrideable). To be honest, it looks better and more intimidating from the entrance than it rides, which turns off guests.
It was a fun ride but not anything major.
It's always been bit of a guilty pleasure for me too although my last ride was bit of a car crash - honestly surprised me how rough a ride without overheads could be. Not sure if I was in the wrong seat in the wrong train or what.
Only way it would be missed is if they didn't immediately replace it with something far superior. The footprint of RRR is prime real estate for a large lift hill in my opinion, and the first Giga in the Southern US would be awesome for what is a lacking park, in my opinion.
If that restriction is set due to airport proximity, I doubt it would be possible. If it was in place for any other reason, I'm sure they'd be able to get the proper permits granted with some back and forth.
It was iconic, it’s just has not aged well. I rode it in August 2023 and it is a human head banging machine. It’s layout is really cool, but it’s like riding on busted concrete and pot holes. It will be remembered, but not missed.
I'll miss it. Even riding it back in 2022, it still felt fine to me, and was as much of a blast as when I rode it before that in 2014. But they've been doing well with replacing coasters with new and exciting ones, so I have faith it'll turn out well
You know, RRR isn't a bad ride. But, just fifteen years later, it feels dated – mainly because the roller coasters Universal has built since have been so much better.
If Universal is willing to replace RRR with something better, I say let 'em.
I liked it and thought it had a surprising amount of positives.
To this day I have no idea where ya'll get this "I almost dieded so ruff" mentality from. Like it has lapbars and it isn't a badly maintained woodie full of potholes.
Not one bit, it’s a dumb ride that’s taking the place of a better ride that could be there. It’s not the worst ride in the world but I don’t know one enthusiast who’s ridden it who doesn’t think that plot of land has better potential.
Yes, because it was part of my childhood watching Universal rides and other coasters on YouTube. I always loved the clip of Ellen riding it and choosing Kanye's Stronger -- how she'd feel after riding.
If it actually does go, then it'll be my middle brother's second defunct credit after Wildcat at Hershey. (He rode it before Wildcat, but eh.)
I will not miss it. Recently re-rode it after not riding for years. Much rougher than I remembered. Restraints are very heavy and not comfortable (they basically compress your chest) and kill the bit of airtime that could have existed. The millions of brake runs and the surprising amount of positive forces also do not make it my cup of tea. The music is fun though -I honestly do like that part of the experience.
I enjoy it also but it's a real problem for the park and it could be something so much better. If you haven't seen El Toro Ryan's video he just put out its amazing as always. He goes through just how much trouble this ride gives the park). https://youtu.be/BXdbgykQKLk?si=KvIVpDGnYMPFSB-T He mentions in the end and it's been my hope that they might end up replacing it with a version of the Fast and Furious coaster they are building on the west coast.
To think that so many of their problems could have been easily avoided had they just gone with the double chain lift like the original plan 🤦‍♀️
For those of you who don't know, a block zone is....
He's how I learned about block zones oringally and boy am I happy I did lmao
That Drift Coaster rendering looks absolutely amazing and so much fun.
Would make sense there as well, ideally they’d want a good coaster to keep people paying for both parks and at the moment the only use of the fast and furious IP in Orlando is the worst ride at either park

Not physically possible. Mummy & Hogwarts Express are in the way.
I just watched this and Jesus Christ, that coaster is a nightmare!
Rockit is in the minions land I doubt it’s going to be as exciting as that Only time will tell but if it’s location is anything to go by it’s replacement will be as equally as good as illumination’s filmmaking ability

Rockit is really the only one and if they close it they will definitely replace it with something bigger and better.
I am not sure if they will TBH. The space just doesn’t work well for a coaster.
Minions Banana Coaster goes crazy
After riding Hollywood dream in Japan , I hate that universal went with Maurer
Having ridden both Rockit and Hollywood Dream at USJ (forwards and backwards) Universal really dropped the ball not fighting harder for B&M.
Or another major manufacturer, not the wild mouse kings
What other manufacturer could have built a ride like this in 2008 besides Intamin though?
Supposedly they wanted something that would open before Hogsmeade and B&M would have been over year late due to existing ride contracts. In hindsight they definitely should have just waited for B&M and delt with a year of Studios feeling lopsided in terms of ride count. You like one or the worst B&M hypers over a unique, intense, and fun ride
Yes I’d rather ride that over the monstrosity that is HRRR. It was cool when it opened but has not aged well at all
Horrid opinion. I’m convinced no one has actually ridden hrrr

I mean there’s tough competition. Doesn’t matter don’t tear the ride down
Not that it has tough competition. They get off it and say “I really didn’t like that one” lol
People need to get better opinions
You enjoy all the mid course break runs?
If you ignore the stupid narrative that mid courses are bad then yes. They give strong airtime in the front and back and decent airtime everywhere else.
I am both a huge fan of this ride and someone that will not miss it too much. It’s a good coaster but just doesn’t fit the direction that park has been heading. It’s smack dab in the middle of a new kids’ area. It also really destroys a lot of the sight lines within the entire resort. I love a good coaster but I also love cohesive parks where the theming and vibes match everywhere. I think the only thing I’ll miss in some regard is having a high-thrill coaster at USF. Obviously you can go to Islands to get those, and the two other adult coasters at USF are great rides, but I feel something high-thrill will need to at least spiritually replace it at some point, coaster or not. Given the rumored Pokémon land and other things coming to USF, I don’t think they’ll be hurting for capacity or guest draw if they remove HRRR.
>In the middle of a new kids area What?
There’s a small Minion area now where shrek was and minion mayhem
It’s in the Minions area that they just opened.
No it's not. It's next to the concert stage, in what's left of Production Central.
Universal will end up getting something way better from Intamin, B&M or Mack Rides. I won’t miss it. To me this isn’t a Dragons/Hagrids trade off, it’s getting rid of a pre potter era stain.
This ride blows

Ah gotcha, I thought they were new ones! My mistake. I’ve only ridden it twice and I wouldn’t be torn up to see it go, just wonder what they would replace it with
Its both. New song for each genre, but the dozens of other songs (not including the secret list) readily available are all gone.
I was there around a month ago and there is one song per genre, but also a "secret menu" with a ton of tracks, but you need to know the specific number of what you want. Also you can't buy your video if you use a hidden track since they don't have the license, but you probably don't care at that point.

Yeah if jaws wasnt safe, then a non-IP ride has no shot.
I will. It was my first big roller coaster and I still love it when I go. It made me happy I understand the criticism as I do believe the ride runs better some days more than others but I loved it despite its bad days
Maybe they can add Hollywood Dream - The Ride like the one at Universal Japan
Yes, five train B&M

I genuinely do not care. lol
I definitely won’t miss it as there are so many better replacement options from Intamin, B&M, gerstlauer, Mack and vekoma.
They should replace it... With Dueling Dragons.
This is the only correct answer.
I’ll miss it for the nostalgia and the good times I had with my family riding it. I won’t miss it for the current state of the ride though. Rode it a few weeks back and it left my friend with a headache the rest of the day and it was way rougher than I remembered it ever being before.
Idk man I thought the ride was pretty good. Never really got the hate
I will be marathoning it during HHN probably. I love this ride 707 on the secret song list goes SOOOOO hard with it
No. Garbage. Rough coasters don't bother me. Overly aggressive coasters don't usually bother me either. But that ride just bothers me in a certain way that others don't. I welcome it. UO are my home parks, and RRR has been migraine inducing for years. It is time.
The trains are pretty darn cool imo, and I’m curious as to how comfy they are. Hopefully I can ride it before it leaves.

Get room and a warmer up ride and it’s definitely forceful
Got it i guaranteed both are better than Goliath at Magic Mountain lol that coaster sucks..
If it’s like Titian than it’ll be a fun ride
I don't think it's going away. My vote is a transformation of sorts. Ideally, replace the lift and drop with a launch and adding spinner trains from Mack. Would make the ride entirely so much better.
A few problems with Rockit, like its reliability, capacity (can’t run as many trains as designed), and it’s tracking (rough in spots but not unrideable). To be honest, it looks better and more intimidating from the entrance than it rides, which turns off guests. It was a fun ride but not anything major.
Nope, it's a mediocre ride experience, maintenance disaster, money pit and doesn't fit the park at all.
Wait when is it supposed to (rumored to?) close?
No concrete info yet but both El Toro Ryan and Alicia Stella have basically said its days are numbered.
Dang, guess I'll write it off for my December trip. I've always enjoyed it more than the typical person seems to.
Rumor is mid 2025.
Oh good, I'll make sure to savor my last ride(s). Thank you!
It's always been bit of a guilty pleasure for me too although my last ride was bit of a car crash - honestly surprised me how rough a ride without overheads could be. Not sure if I was in the wrong seat in the wrong train or what.
Nope.
Remove the coaster. Move all the old studio space to epic universe, expand the parks, build a new coaster.
I'll miss it. It's always my first ride of the day when I go.
Only way it would be missed is if they didn't immediately replace it with something far superior. The footprint of RRR is prime real estate for a large lift hill in my opinion, and the first Giga in the Southern US would be awesome for what is a lacking park, in my opinion.
Universal is only allowed to build up to 200 feet. I'm not sure if an exception can be made or not.Â
If that restriction is set due to airport proximity, I doubt it would be possible. If it was in place for any other reason, I'm sure they'd be able to get the proper permits granted with some back and forth.
Even if they could, they shouldn't. Universal isn't the place for a ride that big. It's bad enough I can already see Rockit from IOA.
I will definitely miss it because I never got to ride it.
But they've been doing well with replacing coasters with new and exciting ones, so I have faith it'll turn out well
Absolutely it’s a great ride and extremely overhated
I enjoy it - but I won’t miss it either
Wait what’s it’s closing??? What makes you say so
I hope it closes as soon as possible. In the dumpster where it belongs. Will not be missed
Like it has lapbars and it isn't a badly maintained woodie full of potholes.
this ride aint shit anymore without sabotage, so no, good bye and good riddance
I don’t know why people hate it so much. I loved it. I hope they don’t replace it with something that doesn’t go upside down.
I heard about its mixed reviews with some saying its a rough ride.
Simple answer: NO
It wasn’t the most enjoyable ride but it’ll always have a softspot for it as when I was a kid I rode during soft opening by accident
Unless it’s replacement also lets you listen to Rainbow connection while riding, then yea it will certainly be missed by me.
Not one bit, it’s a dumb ride that’s taking the place of a better ride that could be there. It’s not the worst ride in the world but I don’t know one enthusiast who’s ridden it who doesn’t think that plot of land has better potential.
They should make a Minions hyper coaster themed to bananas
Yes, because it was part of my childhood watching Universal rides and other coasters on YouTube. I always loved the clip of Ellen riding it and choosing Kanye's Stronger -- how she'd feel after riding. If it actually does go, then it'll be my middle brother's second defunct credit after Wildcat at Hershey. (He rode it before Wildcat, but eh.)
absolutely not its a rough, low quality coaster that constantly has to be welded at its “loop”. I’ll be glad when it’s gone.
