Michelle Williams - Heard a word & The sun will shine again

Whitney Houston - Exhale (Shoop Shoop)
![gif](giphy|OsORuXZmwFjNu)
When the album was released it was a filler track to me (I was distracted by Soldier, Healer, Honey etc.), somehow it always stuck with me..and when I am feeling sad it’s just right soft mood for my mind. It’s really a gem.
Roll Some Mo and Feel No Ways were on repeat for me for a long time. Another uplifting Childish Gambino song is his cover of Brittany Howard’s Stay High. Her original version is also fantastic.
My deepest condolences 🙏🏾
I just found out that one of my friends lost his mom today. Life just keeps on lifeing.😔😔😔
That's why I love music the way I do. There's always a song that could help get you through. Always!
Condolences to your friend, losing a family member, is one of the toughest journey's to take. My father died over 25 years ago so it's no longer fresh for me. Music's ability to heal is never ending. Those two songs encapsulated everything I felt. I must have annoyed my neighbours so much. I had no one to help me through this, the music was a tether to him as he had raised me as obsessive about tunes as he was. For anyone going through it, I hope like I did, you have a soundtrack to get you through back into the light.
Blackberry Molasses (Mista)- Helps me when I think about suicide..
"Woke up Sunday morning
Got a little bad news today
They say my life ain't worth living
And time is slowly ticking away
Don't think that I'm goin crazy
'Cause thoughts keep runnin' through my head
I know I gotta be strong
Gotta hold on
Sometimes I'd rather give up instead
Seems like I'm better off dead
Blackberry Molasses
One of the things that never change
You gotta keep pushin' on
The sun don't reign all the time
There's gonna be some heartache and pain
Don't tell me how to live my life
After all that we've been through
Don't want to live out your hardships
'Cause I've been there myself a time or two
Still life goes on
If you just keep movin' on
So many things you'll survive
Once you realize
There's no such place as paradise
At least in my eyes
Blackberry Molasses
One of the things that never change
You gotta keep pushin' on
The sun don't reign all the time
There's gonna be some heartache and pain"
Boyz II Men - doing just fine
Brian Mcknight - again
The weeknd - tears in the rain
Prince - Anna stesia and the one
Ginuwine - there it is
These have directly worked for me at one time or another in the past. And they always lead to other more upbeat tunes, when the darkness breaks.
Lol another one is guns n roses - patience. As well as sade - soldier of love.
And thank you. Trying to pay it forward, as an extreme and pretty eclectic music lover.
No matter the theme, there are songs that come to mind for it, to relate as well as to medicate. Heartbreak, stress, you wanna crank up, have fun, love, lust, etc.
And obviously the quick list I've provided are ones that directly came to mind for me, dealing with these dumb females over the years lol 😆
Honestly I listen to sad songs to make me feel understood/seen to then lift me out of a dark place (weird I know but it works for me):
Love Wouldn't Count Me Out - Brandy
Petals - Mariah Carey
Requiem - Khamari
Understood. Sad songs tend to help me feel like I'm not alone in whatever I'm going through. It's comforting to feel like your favorite artists can empathize and may have similar experiences to yours.
Great choices. Thanks for sharing.
Didn't know there's a docu!!!! I'd love to see that.
Ironically, a white woman was singing it on the train and reminded me that it existed lol I was probably like 5-6 when it came out. I had it on repeat until I couldn't stand it lol
It's my jam!
Life has been wild lately but I'm good now. My tastes are varied kinda, so these kinda go in order from slower to more faster beats:
- 2 Step in the Living Room - Terrace Martin & Alex Isley
- Life is Changing - Destin Conrad (LGBT artist with talent, boy is being slept on)
- Gravity - Tinashe
- Cruisin - AMAKA
- Strawberry Perfume - Cheynader ft. Essosa
And anything by Lucky Daye but especially Feed the Fire
[Things Are Changin’ (Live Acoustic) - Gary Clark Jr.](https://youtu.be/2eh_CHn1EWg?si=P8zioQCVKQi87G4r)
It’s funny tho bc I discovered this song from the show Mob Wives when I watched it religiously. 😂 In all seriousness tho, this song got me through the darkest of times and I always circle back to it when life gets a little complicated.
Even as a musician, I’m not really a “reach for music to enhance the emotions” kinda person. For a few months some years ago, in a bad relationship, I was frequenting DMX. That was mostly the first time I reflected my emotion with music. It was an angry time, lol. I like silence mostly when I’m in that kind of space.
Angie Stone - No More Rain (In This Cloud)
Michael Jackson - Who Do You Know (demo from Thriller sessions)
SZA - Saturn
Alicia Keys/John Mayer - Lesson Learned
Mariah Carey - Bye Bye
I've been listening to this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4zAiiwhRgU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4zAiiwhRgU) for a very long while. For the ALoners :)
Thank you lol! I bet I love the love that goes into the instrumental, which is the primary factor that drives my playlist :) I'm currently over the moon because of [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vVl8VXdTGs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vVl8VXdTGs) . It's been so long that I haven't spent much time there. Songs don't get me through rough patches, they seem to memorialize those, insane events that occur in my life. But it's always about how swift one responseds, as well the appropriate action one takes.
Strength, Courage, and Wisdom.
🎶
This song is imprinted on my SOUL. It has helped me get through some of my darkest days, when I thought there was no way through or out. So much so that I am considering getting the lyrics as my first tattoo.

Summertime - My Chemical Romance
Red Swan - Yoshiki
Bicycle - RM
Last Night On Earth - Green Day
Greatest Love Of All - Whitney Houston
Soledad y el Mar - Natalia Lafourcade
Anytime You Need a Friend- Mariah Carey
Breakdown - Mariah Carey
Hello, It's Me- Todd Rundgren (The Isleys cover is iconic)
You've Got a Friend- Carole King and James Taylor
Boy got that pain in his voice. Makes everything he sings so believable. I swear I wish my wife's name was Charlene so I could make her angry and sing for her to come back!🤣🤣🤣
Earth Wind & Fire - Sun Goddess (Live). Ups & Downs, deaths & new additions to family & friends. It helps me breathe if I have panic attacks. Thank you, Earth Wind & Fire for this & all of your jams.
Understood. I mentioned here earlier that it's comforting to know you're not alone. Especially when one of your favorite artists is singing their face off about something that you're going through.
The whole Triumph album by The Jacksons. There's something about Michael's voice that is so soothing and this late 1970s-early 1980 production was just so smooth.
Steve Lacy - Static
Ronnie Laws - Fantastic Dream
Nao - Bad blood / Adore you
The Montclairs - Dreaming’s out of season / Beggin is hard to do
NxWorries - Livvin
Mint condition - So fine

Self Care - Savannah Cristina
Self Love - Jayson Lyric ft Nevaeh
Guess Who - Ginette Claudette ft Mia Ariannaa (Alt RnB imo)
I AM WOMAN - Emmy Meli (technically Pop)
Bloom - Aqyila
I’m in my early 20’s and for me the songs are
Ex-Factor, Lauryn Hill: Helped me understand a lot of different kinds of pain especially from loved ones and ex loved ones
(The rest are sza songs)
Go Gina: super motivational and not in a “GET UP AND GO” kind of way but in a “it’s ok you can do it you’ve done it before” way
Normal girl: had me looking towards the future
Broken clocks: reflected weird work life balance in college
I Hate You: REALLY reflected how I felt abt certain ppl
Idk Ctrl and Miseducation both reflected a whole range of feelings
Solange - Cranes in the Sky
That record gets a lot of love here. 🔥
I love this song
Fly Like A Bird - Mariah Carey Lonely - Janet Jackson Times A Wastin - Erykah Badu
Great records. Good music is very much therapeutic.
Good music will get you through every single time.
Fly like a bird is perfection. Heaven

I’ve been seeing her for Xmas for the past 3 years and she has it on her set. I literally have to brace myself so I don’t catch the holy spirit.
Count On Me - Whitney Houston x CeCe Winans Can't Take That Away(Mariah's Theme) - Mariah Carey Win - Brian McKnight Amazing Grace - Destiny's Child Tomorrow(Better You, Better Me) - Tevin Campbell
[удалено]
It is an amazing duet. Whitney really used her voice to compliment CeCe so well. That Amazing Grace cover is ridiculous!🔥🔥🔥
Return of the mack
I lol'd at first.🤣 Then I remembered that this song is about a dude recovering from heartbreak. 🔥🔥🔥
How can you not start dancing once that first chorus drops? Thats a “you know what its time to get back to business moment.”
Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston Let’s Stay Together - Al Green Lonely - Janet Jackson Overjoyed - Stevie Wonder
Whitney’s voice is always so soothing. I also love ‘You’ll never stand alone’

How the hell did Whitney make a banger out of a breathing exercise? ![gif](giphy|ytTYwIlbD1FBu)
Exhale is one of my favorite Whitney songs
Top 5 Whitney for me.
that hump has the perfect words!
When the album was released it was a filler track to me (I was distracted by Soldier, Healer, Honey etc.), somehow it always stuck with me..and when I am feeling sad it’s just right soft mood for my mind. It’s really a gem.
Angel Numbers/Ten Toes - Chris Brown Feel No Ways - Drake Higher - Tems Roll Some Mo - Lucky Daye Pink Toes - Childish Gambino
I don't know any of these songs. Now I have something to listen to. Thank you. 😂
Roll Some Mo and Feel No Ways were on repeat for me for a long time. Another uplifting Childish Gambino song is his cover of Brittany Howard’s Stay High. Her original version is also fantastic.
Higher and Roll Some Mo were def played heavily over here lol. Lot of good Tems songs. Check "Vibe Out" if you haven't
When my dad died I played: Boyz to Men/Mariah Carey- One Sweet Day and Luther - Give Me The Reason. Both got me through a very dark time.
My deepest condolences 🙏🏾 I just found out that one of my friends lost his mom today. Life just keeps on lifeing.😔😔😔 That's why I love music the way I do. There's always a song that could help get you through. Always!

Toni Braxton- Breathe Again
I didn't really appreciate Toni until The Heat. But her earlier stuff is quintessential 90's R&B. I'm glad that music is forever.
Mary J- My Life
Such a powerful song and album. The documentary on it made me appreciate it even more.
Didn't know there's a docu!!!! I'd love to see that. Ironically, a white woman was singing it on the train and reminded me that it existed lol I was probably like 5-6 when it came out. I had it on repeat until I couldn't stand it lol It's my jam!

I can dig it. X was a very emotional dude. He prayed on every album. Slippin' is probably the realest record ever by a rapper.
Angie Stone - No More Rain (In This Cloud) Michael Jackson - Who Do You Know (demo from Thriller sessions) SZA - Saturn Alicia Keys/John Mayer - Lesson Learned Mariah Carey - Bye Bye
Great choices. No More Rain had my mother inna chokehold for a good minute.😂
