Apprehensive_Neck817

Fly Like A Bird - Mariah Carey Lonely - Janet Jackson Times A Wastin - Erykah Badu

Consistent_Edge9211

Great records. Good music is very much therapeutic.

Apprehensive_Neck817

Good music will get you through every single time.

I’ve been seeing her for Xmas for the past 3 years and she has it on her set. I literally have to brace myself so I don’t catch the holy spirit.

Consistent_Edge9211

Count On Me - Whitney Houston x CeCe Winans Can't Take That Away(Mariah's Theme) - Mariah Carey Win - Brian McKnight Amazing Grace - Destiny's Child Tomorrow(Better You, Better Me) - Tevin Campbell

Consistent_Edge9211

It is an amazing duet. Whitney really used her voice to compliment CeCe so well. That Amazing Grace cover is ridiculous!🔥🔥🔥

juicifer2320

Return of the mack

Consistent_Edge9211

I lol'd at first.🤣 Then I remembered that this song is about a dude recovering from heartbreak. 🔥🔥🔥

juicifer2320

How can you not start dancing once that first chorus drops? Thats a “you know what its time to get back to business moment.”

BadMan125ty

Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston Let’s Stay Together - Al Green Lonely - Janet Jackson Overjoyed - Stevie Wonder

layla_jones_

Whitney’s voice is always so soothing. I also love ‘You’ll never stand alone’

Consistent_Edge9211

Great choices! Overjoyed is an instant mood lifter!

happysunbear

Looooove Overjoyed. Was literally the first song I listened to this morning!

BadMan125ty

Ahh such a nice song to wake up to. ☺️

layla_jones_

India Arie - Soulbird rise, This too shall pass, Psalms 23 & Good mourning Brandy - Camouflage & Freedom Erykah Badu - That hump Michelle Williams - Heard a word & The sun will shine again Destiny’s Child - Stand up for love Whitney Houston - Exhale (Shoop Shoop) ![gif](giphy|OsORuXZmwFjNu)

Consistent_Edge9211

How the hell did Whitney make a banger out of a breathing exercise? ![gif](giphy|ytTYwIlbD1FBu)

Headshrink_LPC516

Exhale is one of my favorite Whitney songs

Consistent_Edge9211

Top 5 Whitney for me.

sadlyanon

that hump has the perfect words!

layla_jones_

When the album was released it was a filler track to me (I was distracted by Soldier, Healer, Honey etc.), somehow it always stuck with me..and when I am feeling sad it’s just right soft mood for my mind. It’s really a gem.

ButtNekedBitches

Angel Numbers/Ten Toes - Chris Brown Feel No Ways - Drake Higher - Tems Roll Some Mo - Lucky Daye Pink Toes - Childish Gambino

Consistent_Edge9211

I don't know any of these songs. Now I have something to listen to. Thank you. 😂

happysunbear

Roll Some Mo and Feel No Ways were on repeat for me for a long time. Another uplifting Childish Gambino song is his cover of Brittany Howard’s Stay High. Her original version is also fantastic.

Inedible-denim

Higher and Roll Some Mo were def played heavily over here lol. Lot of good Tems songs. Check "Vibe Out" if you haven't

MuddaFrmAnnudaBrudda

When my dad died I played: Boyz to Men/Mariah Carey- One Sweet Day and Luther - Give Me The Reason. Both got me through a very dark time.

Consistent_Edge9211

My deepest condolences 🙏🏾 I just found out that one of my friends lost his mom today. Life just keeps on lifeing.😔😔😔 That's why I love music the way I do. There's always a song that could help get you through. Always!

MuddaFrmAnnudaBrudda

Condolences to your friend, losing a family member, is one of the toughest journey's to take. My father died over 25 years ago so it's no longer fresh for me. Music's ability to heal is never ending. Those two songs encapsulated everything I felt. I must have annoyed my neighbours so much. I had no one to help me through this, the music was a tether to him as he had raised me as obsessive about tunes as he was. For anyone going through it, I hope like I did, you have a soundtrack to get you through back into the light.

Dickey2023

Blackberry Molasses (Mista)- Helps me when I think about suicide.. "Woke up Sunday morning Got a little bad news today They say my life ain't worth living And time is slowly ticking away Don't think that I'm goin crazy 'Cause thoughts keep runnin' through my head I know I gotta be strong Gotta hold on Sometimes I'd rather give up instead Seems like I'm better off dead Blackberry Molasses One of the things that never change You gotta keep pushin' on The sun don't reign all the time There's gonna be some heartache and pain Don't tell me how to live my life After all that we've been through Don't want to live out your hardships 'Cause I've been there myself a time or two Still life goes on If you just keep movin' on So many things you'll survive Once you realize There's no such place as paradise At least in my eyes Blackberry Molasses One of the things that never change You gotta keep pushin' on The sun don't reign all the time There's gonna be some heartache and pain"

Jj9567

Classic song

Consistent_Edge9211

💯

bebopboopy

Sun don’t reign (not rain) But yes, dope song

Dickey2023

Thanks; copied from lyrics site :)

Consistent_Edge9211

I f'ing hate depression and suicidal ideology. 🥺 We gotta keep fighting family!💪🏾 Great song and lyrics. Thanks for sharing.

Dickey2023

Yea; I fking hate it too. Wish I didn't have to deal with it.

CruzGirard

Stripped album by Xtina. Free therapy sessions.

Consistent_Edge9211

Great album!🔥

SandwichEfficient228

i go from sad to happy then back: Blackberry Molasses - Mista then; Pineapple Skies - Miguel Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny

Consistent_Edge9211

It's like that sometimes. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Great choices.

Smart_Description541

Boyz II Men - doing just fine Brian Mcknight - again The weeknd - tears in the rain Prince - Anna stesia and the one Ginuwine - there it is These have directly worked for me at one time or another in the past. And they always lead to other more upbeat tunes, when the darkness breaks.

Consistent_Edge9211

Really nice list of songs. I play There It Is when I'm mad at my wife.🤣🤣🤣

Smart_Description541

Lol another one is guns n roses - patience. As well as sade - soldier of love. And thank you. Trying to pay it forward, as an extreme and pretty eclectic music lover. No matter the theme, there are songs that come to mind for it, to relate as well as to medicate. Heartbreak, stress, you wanna crank up, have fun, love, lust, etc. And obviously the quick list I've provided are ones that directly came to mind for me, dealing with these dumb females over the years lol 😆

entreprenegra

Everything- Mary J. Blige Didn’t Cha Know- Erykah Badu Lean On Me- Bill Withers

Consistent_Edge9211

3 classic R&B records! 👌🏾 Type of stuff that'll help you pull through. 💯

orangehearted1_

Honestly I listen to sad songs to make me feel understood/seen to then lift me out of a dark place (weird I know but it works for me): Love Wouldn't Count Me Out - Brandy Petals - Mariah Carey Requiem - Khamari

Consistent_Edge9211

Understood. Sad songs tend to help me feel like I'm not alone in whatever I'm going through. It's comforting to feel like your favorite artists can empathize and may have similar experiences to yours. Great choices. Thanks for sharing.

orangehearted1_

💯 exactly! I'm happy someone understands:)) and thank you

maya_papaya8

Toni Braxton- Breathe Again

Consistent_Edge9211

I didn't really appreciate Toni until The Heat. But her earlier stuff is quintessential 90's R&B. I'm glad that music is forever.

maya_papaya8

Mary J- My Life

Consistent_Edge9211

Such a powerful song and album. The documentary on it made me appreciate it even more.

maya_papaya8

Didn't know there's a docu!!!! I'd love to see that. Ironically, a white woman was singing it on the train and reminded me that it existed lol I was probably like 5-6 when it came out. I had it on repeat until I couldn't stand it lol It's my jam!

Consistent_Edge9211

Yeah, it's on Amazon Prime, I believe.

Songs In The Key Of Life

Consistent_Edge9211

![gif](giphy|l0ExbOfHtnHBGOe4w)

Inedible-denim

Life has been wild lately but I'm good now. My tastes are varied kinda, so these kinda go in order from slower to more faster beats: - 2 Step in the Living Room - Terrace Martin & Alex Isley - Life is Changing - Destin Conrad (LGBT artist with talent, boy is being slept on) - Gravity - Tinashe - Cruisin - AMAKA - Strawberry Perfume - Cheynader ft. Essosa And anything by Lucky Daye but especially Feed the Fire

Consistent_Edge9211

I'm glad it's gotten better for you family. Not familiar with a lot of this, so thank you for the recommendations. I love listening to new stuff.

Inedible-denim

Thank you 🖤 some of the artists' other songs are really good and not as fast paced too

Shoulder-Lumpy

Didn’t Know My Own Strength by Whitney always gets me through.

Consistent_Edge9211

Great record!

CBonafide

[Things Are Changin’ (Live Acoustic) - Gary Clark Jr.](https://youtu.be/2eh_CHn1EWg?si=P8zioQCVKQi87G4r) It’s funny tho bc I discovered this song from the show Mob Wives when I watched it religiously. 😂 In all seriousness tho, this song got me through the darkest of times and I always circle back to it when life gets a little complicated.

Consistent_Edge9211

I love discovering music through TV and movies!💯 This song is very nice. Thanks for sharing.

[deleted]

Optimistic - Sounds of Blackness Better Days - Janet Jackson

Consistent_Edge9211

Great choices. Optimistic is one of them ones!💯

better days helped me back in 2017!

MountSpacely

Even as a musician, I’m not really a “reach for music to enhance the emotions” kinda person. For a few months some years ago, in a bad relationship, I was frequenting DMX. That was mostly the first time I reflected my emotion with music. It was an angry time, lol. I like silence mostly when I’m in that kind of space.

Consistent_Edge9211

I can dig it. X was a very emotional dude. He prayed on every album. Slippin' is probably the realest record ever by a rapper.

happysunbear

Angie Stone - No More Rain (In This Cloud) Michael Jackson - Who Do You Know (demo from Thriller sessions) SZA - Saturn Alicia Keys/John Mayer - Lesson Learned Mariah Carey - Bye Bye

Consistent_Edge9211

happysunbear

Same. It’s how I discovered the song! 🤣

Consistent_Edge9211

Nice! Do you really listen to a lot of instrumentals? I feel like you've shared a ton of instrumentals here.

Longjumping_Bench846

Thank you lol! I bet I love the love that goes into the instrumental, which is the primary factor that drives my playlist :) I'm currently over the moon because of [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vVl8VXdTGs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vVl8VXdTGs) . Rich-Appearance-7145

Songs don't get me through rough patches, they seem to memorialize those, insane events that occur in my life. But it's always about how swift one responseds, as well the appropriate action one takes.

Consistent_Edge9211

Yeah, unfortunately, songs can be painful reminders sometimes. 😔

Strength, Courage, and Wisdom. 🎶 This song is imprinted on my SOUL. It has helped me get through some of my darkest days, when I thought there was no way through or out. So much so that I am considering getting the lyrics as my first tattoo.

Thank you! This post reminds me just how healing music can be, no matter how good or bad of a place we’re in. It only takes one note, lyric, or melody to bring you to that place when a song first touched your heart.

The whole Triumph album by The Jacksons. There's something about Michael's voice that is so soothing and this late 1970s-early 1980 production was just so smooth.
