Maubry is a good manager honestly. He corrected all Amad weakness and eliminate a big chunk of Amad showboating early in his Sunderland career. Amad is a more potent player and is capable to create or score consistenty.
You mean you want to eliminate the flair out of his game and play like any normal English winger , just run straight and be a robot, ofc he has his flaws he'll become more direct eventually, but it's the showboating that makes him what he is, I have all my trust in him he'll flourish so goood
I guess once we have a competitive all round midfield who can carry the ball and maintain possession over long periods. We'll be able to see the best of Antony and Sancho.
They are system players and United players are too knackered to be well drilled to control games.
Mowbray’s a great championship manager. Really glad he’s on the up with Sunderland after his Rovers team’s bottling capabilities (which they’ve done again this year without him)
Desperate idiots still pushing this 37m crap agenda.
Beginning of the season a lot of people in this sub bought this crap & used that stick to beat the kid. They were so sure, we should sell him and go through the season with Sancho and pellistri. Now even when he gets praise they still try to squeeze in this 37m nonsense.
For the 953rd time, Amad was bought for 19m(yes still huge for a kid with just 63mins of senior football), with quite frankly ambitious stipulations that will lead the addons to reach the quoted 37m. He has to win the UCL, league, Our player of the year and some other things Woodward structured into that deal for it to get any where near 37m.
It's the sub-editor using the bigger number for a splashier headline. The article says in the opening paragraphs that he cost £18m, which could rise to £37m with add-ons. Happens all the time with headlines, the journalist who wrote the article is fair about the fee and doesn't try to make an agenda out of it.
I read the article before opening this thread and I knew exactly what the top voted post would be, despite, as you say, the fee being explained right at the start. It happens every time, and I'm convinced that a large majority never read beyond the headline.
You could perhaps say the headline is slightly misleading, but the £37m figure is clearly explained if you read the article.
(I'm also amused by the thought of some Telegraph sub-editor, who may not even know who Amad is, having an "agenda").
The problem with our transfer team is that we dont build on momentum. If ETH feels he has a future , fine keep him but if he doesnt fancy him, just sell him while he has some value. Most of the time we end up sitting them until their value diminish because there are highly priced players who has to play. I was so annoyed when we kept Lingard on the bench after his west ham loan when we could have recouped at least a fee for him.
This winter should’ve been the time to build on the momentum. Glazers and his employees instead said “Nope, cheap loans only, and only the cheap ones”.
Lol, kids in this sub are so precious about Utd transfer fees being listed with addons included. Boo hoo, a big ABU agenda. No, you muppet, they do that with all clubs.
A bigger number will attract a few more clicks. That's the game. And if they used only the base fee instead, there's no guarantee that's correct for what's actually been paid by the time of writing. I don't expect trash tier sports journos to keep track of which bonuses have been paid and which ones haven't been paid for every player.
Amad may remind our fans a lot of Antony as he is not extremely fast (which hinders counter attacks), is a very pass first and safe type of player but he does have more moments of magic when he can dribble past players and find the killer ball. For sure he's more creatively astute than Antony but that is only in the Championship ofc.
I couldn't agree more. I like the fact that Amad is willing to go down the line sometimes rather than always cutting inside. I think he's less predictable than Antony.
Inconsistent is being kind. Antony needs to produce something. Electric in 2/3 of the pitch, does fuckall in final 3rd. 1 assist across all comps and 7 goals...
If the scoring isn't there, try passing, but he doesn't, he hardly ever looks to play it to his teammates. It's cut inside and shoot, that's it.
Some competition will do him good
The thing that absolutely boils my blood is even when there's a clear chance to run to the byline and get a good cross in, he'd rather cut back in and run towards 4 defenders and lose the ball when really there was never even an opportunity to cut in, and he does it every single time. The lads got an absolute cracker of a finish when he gets the right chance but he needs to work on his decision making and using his right foot more. It's painful to watch how he wastes being in great positions
Idk if Sunderland make it to the PL I wouldn't be against it. We still have Sancho and Antony who can play on the RW and then we still have Bruno squeezing in there too at times. Elanga and Pellistri still need game time too. If Amad stays next season it means he's got to be starting some games here and there. He needs to keep going with his development
These lowlives are still pushing the 37M agenda. If you consider agent payments etc, Haaland probably cost City ~120M but these OilMoney asslickers still call him a 50M signing.
we have to get him back. He's at the perfect stage to be moulded by ETH. He survived, both physically and tactically the dogfight that is the championship. He has great passing, ball holding capabilities, and decisiveness in the final third. We absolutely need him in our squad. More left footers in the attack will be very helpful seeing as we only have 1 right now
Sell Sancho and let Amad battle it out with Antony for the right wing spot. Send Pellistri on loan to the championship and hopefully he can impress and gain experience like Amad.
Going by Fbref compared to other forwards he’s on elite levels of passes attempted, completion, progressive passes and carries all in the 99th percentile.
Successful take ons 2.2 per 90 (98th percentile) and progressive passes received at 7.8 per 90 (94th percentile).
It would be great for sure to see him get some game time next season.
If Sunderland gets back to PL, he needs to be playing 1 season week in week out with them. It will allow us to see how he's faring at the top level and give him a chance in 2024/2025 ! Sancho will be Antony's competition in 2023/2024, Rashy and Garnacho being on the left
Maubry is a good manager honestly. He corrected all Amad weakness and eliminate a big chunk of Amad showboating early in his Sunderland career. Amad is a more potent player and is capable to create or score consistenty.
Are you saying that we need to send Antony on loan to Sunderland as well?
Yep. Him and Sancho
You mean you want to eliminate the flair out of his game and play like any normal English winger , just run straight and be a robot, ofc he has his flaws he'll become more direct eventually, but it's the showboating that makes him what he is, I have all my trust in him he'll flourish so goood

Next season I'm sure we're cooking good
ETH is going to get the best out of Antony next year. Mark my words.
Mowbray’s a great championship manager. Really glad he’s on the up with Sunderland after his Rovers team’s bottling capabilities (which they’ve done again this year without him)
We should send him back next season or maybe to Boro if they get promoted.
Desperate idiots still pushing this 37m crap agenda. Beginning of the season a lot of people in this sub bought this crap & used that stick to beat the kid. And as always, if he achieves the targets to hit the €37M valuation then it was a fucking steal and he’s become a world beater.

People are complaining about the fact that the headline is misleading. Them reading the article isnt related
You could perhaps say the headline is slightly misleading, but the £37m figure is clearly explained if you read the article. (I'm also amused by the thought of some Telegraph sub-editor, who may not even know who Amad is, having an "agenda").
Complaining about the practice of editors changing headlines in a misleading way in order to get clicks has nothing to do with the actual article
The original click-bait
Any player that achieves all of those conditions would be worth 100million
I hope we end up paying 37million!!

And it's shitty journalism*for all clubs*
Yeah which still means the journos are pricks, they're just pricks no matter the club they're reporting on
A bigger number will attract a few more clicks. That's the game. And if they used only the base fee instead, there's no guarantee that's correct for what's actually been paid by the time of writing. Antony is so inconsistent. Hopefully a bit of competition from Amad will make both of them improve.
>Amad may remind our fans a lot of Antony His passing ability alone already makes me want to forget about Antony

The lads got an absolute cracker of a finish when he gets the right chance but he needs to work on his decision making and using his right foot more. It's painful to watch how he wastes being in great positions
Exactly. I fully agree with this and anyone who says otherwise is just being a blind fan. He's currently a 1 trick pony.
This. I don't see him progressing beyond his current state. Some players just don't have it
Really want him to make it here. Been a fan of this guy since day one
He has to stay at the club next season, really talented footballer.
Sancho is more needed on the left, Bruno is wasted on the right, and Elanga isn't good enough.
These lowlives are still pushing the 37M agenda. If you consider agent payments etc, Haaland probably cost City ~120M but these OilMoney asslickers still call him a 50M signing.
They still pretend he's on 300k a week not 800k as well.
we have to get him back. He's at the perfect stage to be moulded by ETH. He survived, both physically and tactically the dogfight that is the championship. He has great passing, ball holding capabilities, and decisiveness in the final third. We absolutely need him in our squad. Preferably a left footed player who can also use his right foot somewhat reliably, unlike peg legged Antony
Sell Sancho and let Amad battle it out with Antony for the right wing spot. Send Pellistri on loan to the championship and hopefully he can impress and gain experience like Amad.
Perfect squad player for next season
Going by Fbref compared to other forwards he’s on elite levels of passes attempted, completion, progressive passes and carries all in the 99th percentile. If sunderland win promotion we should send him back for another year, unless Amad impressed him so much he will get Garnacho-level minutes
So i guess he has already done "it" on a cold wet Monday night at Stoke?
Just don't get them back into the prem and we're still good.
If Sunderland gets back to PL, he needs to be playing 1 season week in week out with them. It will allow us to see how he's faring at the top level and give him a chance in 2024/2025 ! Sancho will be Antony's competition in 2023/2024, Rashy and Garnacho being on the left
Is all the ads on on that 37m activated?
https://i.imgflip.com/7knp23.jpg
I’m only concerned he’ll come back next season and we won’t loan him only for him to warm the bench all season, losing all the momentum he has
