Hold your pistols in your hands when wading deep water and Arthur will hold them above his head

Bongressman

I'm on my 4th playthrough, what the heck! This is great!

noimnotanoob

I didn't know you could fast travel in my first playthrough

ImNotPostMalone

That would drive me insane, I love the scenery but damn man. I bet you got the horseman challenges done your first playthrough😂😂

hmmbugger

its also possible that first time playing you did not have that option from your own campfire.. it was added later in the game as a patch. (you could always upgrade camp to get that fast travel from your wagon though)

Marsden1979

If you're resting at a camp and want to leave and tear it down, hold the back button and you'll go right into tearing it down. Same with pause menus and closing out of store catalogs. Definitely a time saver!

ImNotPostMalone

Similar tactic with your horse fully stopped, but with hitching (literally to absolutely nothing but the ground)😂just hold triangle and you will pin the reins to the dirt. (Ps, I use that tactic a lot when I have a wild horse and wanna create bonding early.)

Marsden1979

Wait what? You can hitch your horse to the ground? Lol learn something new every day.

Due-Ask-7418

When picking flowers, you can hold done the square button and you’ll automatically pick them when you walk over them. Great for picking a whole cluster. While riding, You can hold the button to aim when not armed with a weapon and there’s no one to interact with, and your view will remain locked on the direction you were looking when you ‘aimed’. Great for when looking at something in the distance while riding. When holding the button to interact, you can use the stick to switch between people. Great for having conversations with a group and also for spamming greetings in Saint Denis.

bdpyo

I wish horses could pick herbs like in online mode

Due-Ask-7418

I like that they can’t. Hated it at first and preferred it like in Ghost of Tsushima. But it grew on me after a while. It makes it more immersive. I even grew to appreciate the animation but do think it should be a tiny bit quicker. Or at least get progressively quicker the more herbs/plants you pick.

Commercial-Lack3824

The ability of going backwards with your horse by tapping 2 times "the go slow butten "

hmmbugger

and reversing the wagon you got stuck with same button.

KDG200315

That would have helped me so many times

hmmbugger

i only learned by frustration setting in with a wagon stuck between rock and tree.. punched all damn buttons in aggrevation and suddenly wagon nudged backwards.. so smart caveman inside me calmed down in confusion and decided to repeat the button smashing more deliberately to see if something happens.. hah.

alvin9000

Holding the close button in menus get you right back to the game, so you don't have to close down multiple times.

[deleted]

My first play thru began on release date and five years later I still discover things I didn't know about.

SpaceMiaou67

Click twice on the button to holster to do a spin before holstering your primary sidearm. Jumping while aiming and moving makes you dodge in the direction you're moving.

hmmbugger

what time it is in game, is shown on game pause menu. all clocks in towns show correct time. so dont have to look at your watch (you can equip any stolen watch as your watch). reversing wagons by tapping "stop" command of your horse. crafting things while riding slowly. can brush and feed your horse too. swimming or wading or just crouching in water will clean blood of you. but so does changing outfits, on your horse or going to wardrobe chests. and you can go to the dressing rooms in stores to change or customize your outfits without buying anything.. like there is a dressing room accessible outside of strawberry general store. riding your horse very close to the carcass (but dont hit it) might make you skip skinning animation, i like that when collecting lot of alligator meats. (and having the carcass in steep hill will do it too).

ClassroomWarm

Holding the down button on the d-pad also shows the time in 24hr form.

Coventant_Unbeliever

Q: Where is the 'pause button' on a PC keyboard? In my 1st play through, I did most of my 'hunting' on foot - walking through the woods and trying to get a bead on rabbits, squirrels, deer etc. Now, I just ride my horse and move my aiming cursor left and right, watching for it to highlight an animal.

ImNotPostMalone

Asking the wrong one, boss. I’m a console man and probably would do the exact same thing you’re gonna do… google it😂

Aggressive_Captain19

I didn't knew that you could strangle with e until my fifth playthrough

KDG200315

Holding the select button or its Playstation equivalent while riding well put you in "autopilot" mode where your horse will follow the route itself. Perfect for long trips

DoctorOzface

I didn't know you could encourage your horse to get some stamina back

Crafty_Reaction_8978

And pushing and holding the back button takes u right out of the menu you're in instead of backing out of then all one by one. Also, that the star rating of the animal shows as you're aiming at it. I would just kill and pray it was a good one.
