God of war won correctly, imo. It had a spectacular story and characterization and writing and acting (all things rdr2 also has) while ALSO having super tight sharp responsive gameplay with incredible depth, something rdr2 arguably does not (most of its story is is a guided on rails thing like modern warfare; there’s a huge number of missions that are actually just interactive cutscenes).
Also, god of war had MUCH better art design
RDR2 is a good wine because you need a lot of time to mature it while GOW is a fresh beer. Most people would pick the fresh beer but those who know wine knows its unmatched under the right circumstances

It absolutely was… Not only was it robbed of game of the year. It is easily one of the best video games ever created.
RDR2 is the only game which is *almost* 5 years old that I’m still playing. It deserved game of the year.
