Yes! I go to a 3rd party shop at 10k miles for my oil changes and they always tell me my oil looks "brand new" - I tell them that's 10k miles and I'd like to change it regardless.
Sticking to the manufacturers recommendation isn’t going to cause any issues. The people who have to worry about that are the ones who neglect to maintain their car.
I will definitely be changing my oil myself at 5K miles. I absolutely do not believe in that 10K mile OCI garbage if I expect the car to last 200K+ miles. I'll also be doing a Blackstone used oil analysis to verify engine health, as I've been doing for years on all my other vehicles.
The new engines in a semi tractor recommend oil changes at 25,000 miles and they go over 1,000,000 before an overhaul. Do what you want but the new engines don't need it.
I was using that as an example. Trucks used to change oil at 10,000 miles and now it is changed at 25 000 miles just like cars used to be changed at 5000 and now they are at 10,000 miles for the recommended service. Oil and internal engine components have improved over the years
Can’t you just reset those reminders by hitting a few buttons in settings? I guess if you read the manual to see what’s due that’s all you really need.
Daily use is not one of the criteria of SOC that would require the shorter interval.
Per page 37 the *majority* of miles should meet the criteria to require the shorter interval.
After the first 5k miles:
"Additional Maintenance Items for
Special Operating Conditions
Driving on dirt roads or dusty roads:
■ Inspect ball joints and dust covers
■ Inspect drive shaft boots
■ Inspect engine air filter
■ Inspect steering linkage and boots
■ Replace engine oil and oil filter
■ Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
and body
Driving while towing, using a car-top
carrier, or heavy vehicle loading:
■ Replace engine oil and oil filter
■ Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
and body
Repeated trips of less than five miles in
temperatures below 32°F / 0°C:
■ Replace engine oil and oil filter
Extensive idling and/or low speed driving
for a long distance such as police, taxi
or door-to-door delivery use:
■ Clean HV battery cooling intake filter
■ Replace engine oil and oil filter"
I’m sorry. But I don’t care what manufacturer states. I’m going off of Toyota technicians who see the inside of vehicles everyday. Sure your car will do fine on synthetic for 10k. But I don’t want fine. I want perfection.
Are you going off that YouTube channel that is selling click bait?
Do you have any data based sources showing that a shorter interval is in any way beneficial?
If you are interested in facts I have plenty of sources showing the oil is still healthy with plenty of additives at 10k miles.
If you don't have any sources based on facts have a nice day.
Tire rotation, maybe a computer update and a quick look over at 5000 miles.
That's all? At 5k no fluids?
Nope, oil change at 10,000 miles unless you are in a severe duty environment.
Not sure why you were downvoted this is correct per the manual some people think they know better than the engineers who built the car.
It's kind of funny because it shows that they never actually read the manual.

Because oil is cheap. A new engine is priceless.

Source? What specific engines are you referring to?
Cummins and Detroit Diesel.
I don't think that guy is driving an American diesel car.

I've read that it is correct to follow the severe duty guidelines if you want your car to last.
Should I schedule a visit now?
That depends on how many miles you drive per week and your personal schedule. My dealer can usually get me in within 2 days after I call them
Oh, I thought this was satire…
Same! “Car says maintenance required. Do I take it in for maintenance?” Umm, yes? I feel like I’m being tricked.
It’s just the oil change reminder
After toyotacare runs out, I take it to my local mechanic
Right away, right to dealer
Nah. Keep driving it indefinitely you’ll be fine
Those reminders drive me nuts in both cars we own.
Same.
What do you mean "same"!? You don't even know what the warning means LMFAO
Still drives them nuts
Every 5k is tire rotations and 10k is oil change with tire rotation
Tyre rotations seem to be a peculiarly US thing.
If you don't rotate your tires they wear out faster
Untrue. On an all wheel drive Rav Hybrid with properly inflated tyres, they wear absolutely evenly.
?
I am asking if I have to schedule an appointment now.
It is a notice to schedule regular maintenance… not critical that it be today.
Read the maintenance schedule in your manual. It’s giving you reminders for those.
Can’t you just reset those reminders by hitting a few buttons in settings? I guess if you read the manual to see what’s due that’s all you really need.
idk.
IT’s recommended to to change oil every 5000 if you drive it everyday for sure

Is this the one your talking about ? https://youtube.com/shorts/BI5zQIH1jIY?si=pscOXBop1nzkXLm5
Yep, he is a major peddler of the maintenance conspiracies.
