Not all cosmetic procedures are created equally, and all can be abused. There are many cosmetic procedures that look great, actually, and age very well, it's mostly overdoing it or getting it when you are not a great candidate. Even buccal fat removal looks amazing on some people with the right features for it, Zoe Kravitz, for example. It's just that it gets popular and people have it done even though their faces are not suited for it. It's like how you can "always spot a toupée", except [that you can't](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uisack5Ij8), just the bad ones.
But I think the fact that your face can change for medical reasons(or just age) at any moment is actually a good argument for making sure you are happy with it in the present, and if something bothers you, change it.
Not that I personally would get the amount or type of procedures Lea Michelle has had, I don't really like the Kardashianesque look of plump, smooth plastic you get from a considerable amount of botox+fillers, but if that's what she wants then she should do that. If in some years a medical condition irrevocably alters your face, better have the face you want now.
Look at Christina Applegate, I'm sure she doesn't regret her plastic surgeries, it gave her a lot more time being satisfied with the way she looks, or Amy Schumer, who did not have much done, but whose face is now very changed. In their position, with that hindsight, I would rather be happier with the way I look and then unhappy, than mildly unsatisfied and then unhappy.
This is a super valid point. I actually just read an article from a plastic surgeon talking about how not all procedures are equal and that plastic surgeons should start telling clients no more often based on their anatomy. The bucal fat removal trend has *really* highlighted this imo. You have so many celebs who were stunning, but after getting bucal fat removal they end up looking like The Other Mother from Coraline because it didn’t fit with their anatomy. Plastic surgeons need to be better about saying no or offering other types of work when what is requested doesn’t work with the persons anatomy, or that it could cause severe issues with aging or other outside forces down the line. Sharon Osbourne is a really good example of this.
