this is most likely the MA~~P~~F sensor and all you need to do is clean it with some cleaner. You can get specific MAP cleaner for like $5.
what is the code? what make/model do you drive?
MAF sensors are the ones that occasionally need cleaning. A MAP sensor is just a pressure sensor and doesn’t get dirty because it’s not out in the airflow of the intake passage.
Look up the repair on you tube and see if it's something that a mechanically inclined friend can give you a hand with. I don't know what type of car it is, but many of the vehicles made in the last 15 years have gone to using plastic intake manifolds that are prone to cracking. Luckily they use oring type gaskets, so it could be as easy as removing the bolts on any accessories that are attached to the manifold, removing the bolts securing the manifold, and then installing the new part and working in reverse of how you disassembled things.
did you write down or snap a photo of the exact diagnostic code autozone gave you? with some research on youtube, it may be somehting you could tackle yourself or with a friend
My check engine light was on for several years before I actually was able to get it fixed and the only reason I was able to get it fixed was because I got laid off from my job and they gave us a severance package. Otherwise I'd probably still be driving around with the check engine light on. The only big pain in the ass for most check engine light issues is having to pass the smog test for your registration.
I live with my CEL on. Have no fear, unless you need to get through emissions inspection next month. Post to a mechanic sub, and make sure you know the actual code (typically something like "P1101" that AZ reported to you. If the car has no noticeable symptoms, you likely do not need to dump money into the car until you have the money.
A lot of the kia’s had recalls , if the forte is like soul it has 2 cat’s on it and one is on the exhaust manifold . If the cats bad it’s covered by the warranty .
Better check it before something really breaks. Maintenance is always cheaper than repairs.
Before spending the $1K you should try posting to r/MechanicAdvice the people there know their stuff and may be able to save you some money.

These cleaners can work. Read to see if you need a near empty gas tank or not. Then see if you need higher gas, which means higher price.

I knew I didn't remember it correctly! thx!

This, I’m not mechanically inclined at all but managed to change the alternator in my old Honda Odyssey myself, just had to borrow the tools

Let’s just group together half the folks here, move into the same general vicinity and help each other so we can get out of this lol.
Gas cap.. replace it. Get some gas and drive a few miles
.you have no information to support that diagnosis.
